I want this on my wall, NOW.
That is beautiful. Perfect...poster. Loving the blend between the Giger walls and the Nostromo corridors.
Is it okay if I use this as a desktop background?
This is very good! I didn't know you had such painting skills. How long did it take you?
Thanks very much. I've not posted in the fan section before but my legless Space Jockey, alien hanging in chains and various other things have turned up on the forum before thanks to other posters.
MrSpaceJockey- yes feel free.
Ikarop - I did it over the Christmas period, a week or so.
Legless Space Jockey? Are you Daryl Joyce by any chance? No way!
I had favorited this on DeviantArt earlier today! Nice to see you on the boards, your stuff is amazing.
That is some really great artwork there, man. Love it.
The name of this thread is also pure gold.
This pleases my eyes greatly! Mighty fine work, Gash!
Thats just amazing, wow, reminds me of Dave Dorman... You have superior painting ability!
and yeah the topic name threw me off for a bit
That is some fantastic work!
Absolutely.
Jaw.

Not sure, but he did do the morphing Brett that he has on his avatar. Really spectacular artwork. It's a shame the sequels don't get this same artistic love!

beautiful. how long have you been painting?
El Acheronsis originale! That is soooooo wicked dude, excellent excellent work. Traditional or digital?
My once critique is that I think the hand looks like it's behind the burster, not in front. Maybe a bit less transparency or more blurring? Thats all I got.
God it takes me back to the good old days.
Been painting for years, about 11 years professionally.
The chestburster was a pencil drawing, coloured on computer - half digital I guess.
Something else...

I definitely will. But I might wait till I've seen the film so I can do something that's thematic. At the moment, although there are some great images I wouldn't know where to put the emphasis or quite what to focus on.

Love your work! I cant tell what medium you're using. Is that computer graphix, oils, or mixed? And, is that all free hand or what? However you get there, your results are perfect!
Thanks. It's mostly painted in gouache, but some of the images are edited/recomposited using Photoshop and Paint Shop. The ones below were very simple pencil drawings with all the colours and shading done on computer - gradient fills and the like. Recently bought a Wacom so I'll try and get used to working with that.

Gonna make myself look amateurish, but what is gouache? I am mostly familiar with the old fashioned acrylic on canvas. :-\
Gouache is basically opaque watercolour.

@ Alone in the Dark, wow. That's just freaking... you're going to start a cult any minute now, aren't you?
You know one of my favorite things to do with the Alien films is to put myself in these creepy little moments that you never really get to see. How lonely would that be? Or horrible? Knowing that your friends were still out there running from this thing that's killing them, while you die a nightmarish, painful, and slow death.
Very nice. I hope you do more pieces like this in the future. If you don't hate Alien3, it also provides many eerie "I'm dying alone and the alien has raped me" moments. Come to think of it so does Aliens.
Exquisite work.

Well, it's not that. It's just that I don't know anything about it, so it's difficult to know what's significant and what would make an interesting take on it. It's a safe bet that the trailer doesn't scratch the surface.
yeah i suppose, although you could actually draw a massive turd with the prometheus logo on it at that point and people would 'eat' it up. ;D
It's dripping with atmosphere. I can hear the flame thrower burping and the wet sounds echoing.
Is this all done digitally or was this begun as a piece of traditional tangible art? Breathtaking.

Then it's an amazing dance of traditional and digital flavorings. I'm quite looking forward to what you produce in the future. Gouache is a species of water color if I recall? Amazing control over such a fluid medium. You must be one of those beings from Cameron's Abyss. ;)

Been awhile since I last checked out this thread. Love the new stuff, especially the Engineers and Deacon one.
Dude, a bunch of your stuff is on the Stan Winston School of Character Arts (https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.434154319953574.89743.130940650274944&type=1) Facebook page! Same guys who showed of a great piece by Requiem28 a week or so ago :)
Cool - didn't realize they made a page just for Alien art (Though I remember seeing Requiem28's hall of movie characters on my newsfeed!). And Gash's really does deserve to be there - that Alien poster is still one of my favorites.
Cool that Locusta's there too.
Thanks for letting me know. That's so cool. :)
Thought I'd have a go at an alt Fifield

You are a man after my own heart.
Love how this version really gives off the "becoming alien" vibe with the dome head membrane and little inner mouth.
And damn you, you beat me to the fanart fifield.
Super cool stuff dude!! What programs do u use?
Thanks. Some stuff on this thread is purely traditional - gouache on board, others are sketches worked up in Photoshop CS4 and an ancient version of Paint shop, 7 I think (gotta be ten years old).
Oh god yes.

Love this film, early body horror from Britain starring Peter Cushing - 1966.

Omfg, freaking insanely awesome.

Your go at Fifield is a home run in my book. Beautifully realized. I especially enjoy how you made his skin look embryonic. Nice translucence and lighting. A treat to the eyes.

Looks really nice; I'd be curious to see what it looked like without the filter (and possibly with some further blending).
Thanks. Here's a couple of earlier WIP stages. It's rough around the edges and needs to be painted properly. But I'm undecided if it needs an extra element or two in there before I do that. The Engineer was made from a statue of Hercules.

Wow, that's going to look awesome.
Absolutely brilliant work on the statue of David edit. Really love that second version as well.

Odeon Entertainment contacted me last week wanting to use this on their upcoming Bluray release of Island of Terror. I'll also be doing the film Zeta One for them. (Valerie Leon wearing not much more than nipple guards - should be fun).
That's incredibly awesome! :) Congrats!
Awesome! :D
Just watched Zeta One a week or so ago and while it was quite a bore after the first 20 minutes, the eye candy was in constant supply. ;) Can't wait to see what you cook up for it.
Never actually seen Zeta One, well... seen about 15 minutes of (fleshy) highlights. Probably one of the few Brit flicks of the era that I haven't seen. I'm sure the talents of James Robertson justice and Charles Hawtrey are squandered and by all accounts it is the epitome of an exploitation film for all concerned but it looks like it has that kitsch cheesy, late 60s vibe that gives it a certain appeal.
Really loving Fifield and your posters. Deacon is fantastic as well. You truly are an amazing painter, Gash.
Thanks very much. Very nice of you.
Here's the Zeta One cover..

This is just amazing. Honestly, there are no words for such insanely well done work.
Oh shit. :D
Fantastic, as usual. The sunset lighting and the realism of the sky and ground in first painting is amazing, and while the Stingray in the second pic is great too, those green scales really get me going, artistically.
10/10, Gash.
Thanks CANCERBLACK.
Omg, I can't believe my post on this was deleted during the server transfer, was honestly hoping it would be one of the lucky ones to not get lost on the way. Anyway, I remember writing that I really freaking enjoyed these pieces. Almost like something in between a movie poster and concept art for an actual movie. Just love the fact that they look more like paintings than anything else, the colors are nicely done, lots of action and vision in these. Totally love them.
Thanks ShadowPred, sorry I missed your response, haven't been here for a while.

Here's the werewolf, not figured out how to do hair yet :-)

The Jockey might be a hard one to finish, Sculptris is very good at doing the organic, but mechanical geometry is extremely difficult. It would probably have to be blended with a a jockey chair/telescope made in a different program.
Anyway, in the meantime, here's something more fleshy...
