Halloween Kills. I enjoyed it! Even more than Halloween 2018!

Glad you liked it  :)

Dune (2021)

Just got back from the cinema with my brother and we both enjoyed it.  I know this might sound stupid but how they pronounce Harkonnen in this movie, and the sci-fi channel mini-series annoys me for some reason  :D  I prefer how they pronounce it in the David Lynch movie.  Sad I know.

I actually sort of agree, but I still think it's easily Craig's second best film. Substantially down to Javier Bardem, who made for the best Bond villain since Sean Bean in GoldenEye.

I rate Janus way above Silva, but still No Time To Die even with Safin's ambiguity, far and away outclasses the rest of Skyfall.

Even if it's technically not nearly as tightly put together.

No Time to Die

Another trip to the cinema today and I managed to score the last ticket as it was fully booked all week.

Finally got to see this. I enjoyed it. Nothing like as good as Casino or Skyfall but comfortably Craig's third best outing. The action was a big step up from SPECTRE (in that it was actually exciting) with the caveat that some of the fight scenes were a little confusingly edited. I enjoyed the slightly darker portrayal of M in this one. Still didn't like Waltz as Blofeld.

My biggest gripe was that the villain was so underwhelming; Malek is a fantastic actor but he really wasn't given much to work with in the part and felt wasted. Also his leap from "revenge against those who wronged me" to "murder everyone" kinda came out of nowhere and wasn't explained or justified at all. And given the fuss that was made over them hiring people like Phoebe Waller-Bridge to rewrite the female characters, I thought the female characters were almost uniformly undercooked. Lashana Lynch as the new 007 was the worst offender - her character was entirely cardboard and forgettable. To make matters worse, Ana de Armas, far and away the most memorable of the three leading ladies, was only in the film for like 10 minutes.

Still, overall I thought it was a solid if middling Bond entry. It was undeniably very "Craig" in style and tone.

Oh yeah, and Billie Eilish's theme song sucked.

Agreed and same for me.  I also agree about the Billie Eilish theme song.  The gentleman who sat next to me made the same comment.

A fully booked cinema? Wow. In my neck of the woods for both Shang-Chi and Halloween Kills it's been maxed out at a dozen people tops!

Yes, even I was surprised.  On the two trips, I did to watch both Dune & No time to die the place was packed.  I was especially shocked when I was told NTTD was fully booked for the week.  I had to watch people be told there were no more tickets after I got the last one.  Some unhappy faces I tell you.

Empire Strikes Back (original untouched version)

From a laserdisc rip.

One of the most boring robot battles in film.

Invasion of the body snatchers 1978

Decided to give this a watch after reading an 80s magazine interview with Veronica Cartwright.  She talks about her roles in The birds, Invasion and Alien.

IT! The terror from beyond space 1958

Interview with Dan O Bannon made me want to watch this again.  Enjoyed both films  :)

Halloween (1978). I have seen this film countless times growing up in the early 80s and 90s too.
First time I've seen it in a long time mind but still enjoyable - a classic - even more enjoyable after watching the Netflix special (the Movies that made us).
Michael Myers still creeps the hell outta me.

Widows

This was on TV last night. I knew the basic plot from seeing the original British TV series a long, long time ago, so the big twist was already spoiled, but it was a great movie. Elizabeth Debicki in particular was fantastic, it says quite a bit that she still managed to stand out in such a powerhouse cast.

Watched both films for Halloween.  Not a fan of the prequel but it was good to watch for Halloween.

I thought it was clever in the prequel the way a duplicate/alien was detected. I also liked the Swedes er Norwegian characters were actors from there.

Carpenter's 1982 film is superb. In my top 5.
