Quote from: Local Trouble on Nov 18, 2024, 03:03:41 AMI'm still confused about the relationship between the US and the UA.  The US still clearly has sovereignty and retains control over its military (it's not the UACM or UAS Sulaco, after all), so why would the FBI be UA?

Why not something more like Interpol?

FBI would be like USCM - just for US citizens, or crimes committed on US soil.  I dunno how they defined it in the RPG (I dread to think) but I always saw the UA as an American version of the EU.  Each member retains various local institutions (like law enforcement or a military), but they have things like free trade and movement, common currency, and other benefits etc.

Does that mean we're no longer whinging about immigrants in the 2100s?

Oh no that's still happening, but more universal ire would be more directed at robots.

I'll refer you to Hudson's "illegal alien" line in Aliens.

Even though it makes no sense since all of the Americas are one under the UA banner.

Just read it! It's OK so far; I'm getting a Blade Runner/Fifth Element feel from Hume City.
