I didn't know anything about ME at first and pretty much used Jacob as a perma squad member in my first play through.  :\

They should just go ahead and make him a villain in ME4.

He's basically the Fifield of Mass Effect.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but ME Andromeda is actually hilarious.

In addition to Mass Effect 4, a couple of potential spiritual successors to Mass Effect in the works:

"By combining excellence in the arts with innovative technologies, videogames have the extraordinary power to transport you to new worlds of adventure. That's what first inspired me to make games, and it's at the heart of what we do at Humanoid Studios."
Casey Hudson, (Creative Director for the original Mass Effect Trilogy and KOTOR) Founder & CEO

They allow us to give the player powerful choices that have real consequences on how the story unfolds." -James Ohlen, (Design Director of Dragon Age Origins and KOTOR) Head of Studio

Worth keeping an eye on, I'd say.

How are the Mass Effect books?

I read one maybe a decade ago about Anderson during his attempted Spectre years and found it to be pretty flat and boring.

It essentially reads like almost every other media tie in novel with an author who is just putting in minimal work to cash in a paycheck, or intentionally limited by what he could write by the studio in the universe.

Aliens novelizations have more than a few of this instance, especially novels between Bantam and the new novels.

Yeah, and it's sometimes the same group of authors who do these. The same names popping up in Star Wars, Aliens, Terminator, Starcraft, etc.
