Resurrection was supposed to have dark humour.
So was Alien3.

They all did one way or another, really.

Resurrection was just... uh... a bit off the wall.

A3 wasn't dumb though.

Resurrection was supposed to have dark humour. It just turned out to be stupid.

Nooo, why would you even say so?

So do I. What's funny is that some scientists actually sometimes do things like that with primates they're trying to train.

Don't forget what, 6 guys with big guns facing down one Alien and decide to run in the opposite direction and start arguing about going back or banging on a door that won't open.

It always makes me sad to see Michael Wincott's character fall into the cliché trap of venturing away from the group, for no apparent reason really other than add one more slime infested gun to his otherwise overloaded arsenal. Even Brett's death was more dignified.

But at least theyre characters that you see in daily life, like in previous 3 movies! I see characters looking like this in video games and new Mortal Kombat and Tekken all the time!

Is Resurrection the ideal ALIEN sequel? No. But I maintain that if it were released without the baggage of being one, it would be a fairly successful cult film. It's not accessible to a wide audience because of its grotesque, perverse weirdness and quirky humor, but for those who like that sort of thing, it's a very interesting and enjoyable film--warts and all.

Exactly. But the fact remains, it IS an Alien film, and a very poor one. It should have just been an independent film, untied to any previous classics.

Which is why I choose to just view it as a sort of EU spinoff. When I read the comics, I don't get angry with them for being comic book-ish and not in line with the films. The original trilogy is its own thing, Resurrection is an enjoyable spinoff.

I can't enjoy it because of the connection it has to the originals. I just can't.
