The Alien ripoffs and requels thread made me curious if there have been any Predator or AvP ones?
I know there was this one but the title escapes me. It had a hunter alien that came to hunt on Earth, it was a modern-ish film. The alien had a first person vision mode that looked like it had polygons all over. The alien also wore some kind of full body suit and could cloak.
There's also a film before Predator that was to do with an alien hunter, also starring Kevin Peter Hall as the alien.

There is total Philippine rip-off. It's called Bangis. I think there is trailer on youtube.

You're thinking of Alien Vs. Hunter. It's hilariously bad.
There's Alien vs Hunter, which is terrible.
A film produced in Australia a while back called Code Red: The Rubicon Conspiracy is basically Predator in terms of plot but actually had an AvP creature conflict. Complete with cloaking Predator and team up at the end.
Xtro 3 is a Predator ripoff, set in the jungle, cloaks, etc.

I don't remember what it's called, but I saw this one movie on Syfy where people where stuck on an island and cloaking aliens were hunting them.
I vaguely recall an episode of the old Hulk Hugan TV show "Thunder in Paradise" where they come across an invisible alien hunter that basically looks exactly like a cloaked Predator (and I also seem to remember them defeating it with the epic power of.........strumming a tiny banjo  ).
There's also the Mark Dacascos movie "DNA", in which he goes up against a xenomorph-esque alien that can cloak itself and has a lot of shots in first-person "heat vision" deep in a South American jungle.

I've seen DNA before.
Wow, I had no idea there were this many!
The only video I can find on Youtube of the "Thunder in Paradise" Predator episode (I looked it up and it's called "Nature of the Beast") is the whole episode with a Russian dub, so I'm not sure that would be postable here. But here's a trailer for DNA:
I have another two, more in style of Predator 2

This one with Dolph Lundgren is about alien drug dealer :D Alien uses wrist computer and smart disc to fight.
I have fond rose tinted childhood memories of "I come in piece" thats another one I need to watch again.
Another film I came across recently that is a blatant copy of the Predator films, is this gem called "Man Vs".

You know that actually looks pretty fun I wish the trailer hadn't given away what the Alien looked like...I mean it was doing pretty good but
no.

YES I REMEMBER THIS. I SAW IT ON PAY TV YEARS AGO. I remember one movie where the government were experimenting on dogs and dropped one into a jungle to hunt this squad. Had this chick and she got ripped apart in this tree. funny

It's ok, something to watch on a rainy day and you don't feel like going anywhere. But it's pretty much Predator and stranded tourists. Again, it's not bad, it's a good free streaming.

Like, it's obviously something they enjoy making and using, but when Pumkinhead, the Alien and now the Predator all have the same upper lip it feels more like repeating yourself than a signature. Fingers crossed for more variety of lips in future after the amicable split.

1) cringe
2) what did the Predator movies take from Forbidden Planet? An invisible monster? That was hardly unique to that film.

Predator came out before Robocop and they were made largely at the same time.
Predator 2 rips off the opening of RoboCop quite blatantly.

Yeah, Predator 2 definitely rips off Robocop. But it's not as good or as funny.

The Predator is an ID monster in the ID forest, much like the sheer majority of popular 80s creatures. The first iteration (in films) of an ID monster is... the ID monster from Forbidden Planet

the satirical tone is also tons RoboCop - Harrigan punches a Detroit journalist in the face, basically
The beast in the forest is King Kong.

Yeah actually, there are readings of King Kong that establish the ape as a symbol of primal masculinity. I specifically refer to the ID monster because it's what people refer to usually (Winston makes direct references to the ID monster when talking about Pumpkinhead, for one)
McTiernan flat out says Kong. The a Thomas brothers likened it to the Minotaur and other beasts.

Where was this said? Starlog, Starburst? This is SUPER important
Spoiler
in PREY, Naru stabs Feral with one of his own fangs - just like Theseus kills the Minotaur using one of the beast's horns. I mention this in the podcast, but had NO IDEA that the Thomas bros likened the original Predator to a Minotaur. This is WICKED!
Commentary on the second film. McTiernan obviously mentions Kong on the commentary of the first.

Lmao
The 2002 British werewolf flick, DOG SOLDIERS, with a platoon of Brit soldiers on a training mission in the Scottish Highlands. Then fighting for their lives against a pack of ravenous werewolves. Along with influences from ALIENS and THE EVIL DEAD, has a strong PREDATOR vibe throughout.
Speaking of the furry folk. In the Disney animated series GARGOYLES' Season Two episode "Eye of the Beholder". One of show's femme fatales, Fox, receives a wedding gift in the form of near priceless item called the Eye of Odin. Little did she or her fiancee know. It possessed magical properties which during the night, turn her into werewolf like beast. On top of the episode using the City Hunter's roars from PREDATOR 2. There's a chase, fight scene in a meat packing plant, like the flick's third act.
Don't think that counts as a rip-off though, it might have some inspiration but it is its own movie.
