I've always felt like ADI inherited their Alien movie gigs more than they earned them.  "These guys did the last one, guess we'll use them."

I agree completely. Please, please give someone else a go.

Unfortunately they don't really have any power, they got to do what the directors or studio wants, ADI are talented, they just need to work for someone who doesn't make them do designs that are disliked, Resurrection designs are good when looked at on its own and with the context that they are hybrids, not true Xenomorphs, but these designs are wrong for "pure" Xenomorphs hence the dislike of them in AVP.

I have no issue with them working on Alien V, hopefully they will deliver the bio-mechanical giger design.

ADI rocks, has the tools & the talent.  Plus, the years of experience working w/ Stan Winston

3-4 years. They do have talent as far as sculpting, sketching and puppeteering, but not in designs. Thats all a matter of personal taste, but I never liked any of their designs (sans the Runner), even when they had a complete freedom

Paul Anderson, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, The Brothers Strause however - had horrible creature visions and truly limited them in their potential.  Given source material from someone like H.R. Giger like in Alien3, you can see how great that creature suit came out.  They just need the proper amount of freedom.

The only work I like from them is The Runner and...eh, no, just the Runner. Never liked ANY of their other designs at all and ADI guys are too pompous for my tastes so I would go with them, but Im open minded

You know what'd be refreshing? Seeing different designs of adult Aliens (not Queen or Predalien) together in frame.

I want a transparent forehead, in order to see the skull beneath.

They only make the monster effects. They need a director who knows how to shoot them.

That being said ... I hope they get away from the Pumpkinhead-esque signature evolution of the alien since AlienĀ³. They end up looking more and more like bio-mechanical dinosaurs with every film.

With Blomkamp at the helm and everything he's been saying, I'm definitely expecting a return to Alien and/or Aliens style designs.

Meh, they don't have much of a bio-mechanical look to them. Just dinosaur.

I hope ADI doesn't use those designs. Space raptor fail.

I want Winston Studios to handle the practical effects. I've not been impressed at all with ADI's handing of the Alien effects work(and yeah, I know they were originally from Winston Studios..)

Not sure if this comment is intended as a serious response or if it is a sort of joke due to their association with the films that he is planning on retconning, but either way I thought it was worth posting since it's coming aright from Blomkamp's Twitter account that we've been getting a lot of other news from in regards to this project.

If it is true, I have no complaints. ADI can do and have done some truly excellent work. I'm sure they could do an excellent job creating a Giger-esque Alien under Blomkamp's direction. That being said, I still wouldn't be surprised to see Weta Workshop on board for the practical effects.

Ditto, ADI have done good work and they shouldn't be targeted by angry fans just because they had to do what they were told. I have no issue with them working on  Alien V, I just hope the director wants the Aliens to go back to their original bio-mechanical design.

I do think ADI take far more stick than they deserve to. Their work in AvP/R was just recycled from AR to save costs. I think with a director like Blomkamp who likes to get his hands on, they will probably create a really nice Alien-esque approach for this. Just a hunch, of course, but just from the way Blomkamp is talking about Alien and Isolation, I certainly see a return to that appearance.
