Feral Interactive, the developers responsible for porting Alien: Isolation to Nintendo Switch in 2019, has now announced an Android and iOS port of Alien: Isolation set for release December 16th!

As with the Switch edition, this new mobile incarnation of Alien: Isolation will also come with all the previously released DLC content. You can see some screenshots of both iPad and iPhone incarnations below.

Currently the game will be supported on iPhone SE(2020)/7 Plus/8 Plus/ X and later, and iPad mini 5 (2019) and later, Air 3 (2019) and later, 7 (2019) and later, Pro 1st gen (2016), 12.9″ model only and Pro 2nd gen (2017) and later. No details regarding Android platforms appear to be available just yet. Alien: Isolation is currently available for pre-order from the Apple Store for $14.99.

Feral’s Nintendo Port switch of Alien: Isolation was well received. It currently sits at 83 on Metacritic, with a user rating of 8.5. Alien vs. Predator Galaxy was also very impressed with the port! Mine can't launch it either Kradan.

This does not feel like something people have thought through. Mobile phone gaming is fine, but usually works best when you have short bursts of gameplay, not long stretches with manual saving. Not to mention touch controls for an FPV game :s

I only see this worth while playing on a small tablet if you're under the age of 10. So big guess would be they are aiming this at children wildly looking for some alien action.

I hope these children crap their pants

Isolation is turning into the Skyrim of the Alien franchise.

Ten years from now there will be no new games, just more ports.

Being able to play this on the fly is huge news for two reasons, it shows how far the power of mobile gaming has come in just a few years, and second that quality AAA titles are indeed possible now. I hope it massively succeeds and spurs other developers to think about mobile ports.

As for the whole "mobile gaming only works in short bursts" i think pubg mobile and call of duty mobile players would like a word. Mobile gaming is projected to become the biggest gaming platform in the world. Almost everyone in the world has a smartphone now, it's good business to bring these titles to mobile. Peace.

in 5 years humans will shrink 4feet and the screens of mobile devices....mainly phones will be so large they would be like 4k tvs to us. not sour. just observant and realistic. no need to be defensive about this news. Obviously people don't understand the use case of porting AAA games to a mobile device no matter what size it is. They didn't really say nor has anyone made a good point about it.

I'm neautral. no where nearly excited like the guy wearing glasses and a vintage x-men tvshirt is. He's just bursting with fruit flavour.

Look i accept mobile might not be everyone's preference when it comes to gaming. But millions of people around the world do enjoy it. There's a lot of people around the world who can't afford high end P.Cs and consoles. Mobile is their only source of gaming. And that's totally fine. Im just surprised there are people putting down a fully fledged alien title down. Especially on AvPgalaxy!

For one feral interactive are absolutely amazing at porting games to mobile and have a great track record. They make absolutely no compromise in doing so. Plus you don't even need to play with a touch screen as it will have controller support.

Now consider this.. Developers are not yet going to risk making original high quality single player games for mobile, if it flops its a big hit on them. It makes much more sense business wise to port existing titles to mobile, so they can test the waters first. The more ports that are successful, the more confidence developers will have in the future, in making original AAA games for mobile. 

Again it might not be for everyone, but it's not aimed at you. It's aimed at people who do enjoy gaming on the go. And I'm all for it.

Anyway, speaking personally, I'm bitter first of all 'cause my phone won't be able to run the game. I would actually love a chance to play Isolation on a portable device, laying in my bed,for example. But I do agree with these skeptical about the news. It's not freaking Angry Birds - Alien Isolation isn't a game for quick sessiins. It's a game you have to dedicate some time playing. And I would imagine smaller screen would cause lost of a lot of details developers put into the world and break the immersion

Yeah, Alien Isolation should make you feel... isolated. It's not a game you play in the breakroom or on the bus.

Thats totally cool it's your opinion, but it's clearly an outdated one. Games have come a long way since angry birds and i find a lot of these negative comments nothing more than hyperbole. What's the difference between mobile and Nintendo switch? Nothing.

Pubg mobile rakes in billions around the world every year, clearly people like playing quality games on the fly. The numbers speak for themselves.

I don't see how this will work....but hey if it helps get a sequel I'm all for it. Odd to see a 5.9 rated game from ign get so many ports...... ign's review irritates me even to this day.

I'll probably get it and give it a go, but this is just one of those "but why" moments. I'm curious to see how it plays. I was very impressed with Feral's Switch port so I'm willing to go in with some benefit of the doubt. But honestly, I'd have rather a Blackout sequel or a new mobile game. I can't see folk sitting down to get involved in a 8 hour immersive story on their phone but maybe I'm wrong.

One of my favorite gaming memories is from when I was pretty young, early teens I think. I was on a long flight and had along with me a PSone, the slimmed down version of the original PlayStation which released in the year 2000. Attached to the console was a portable 5″ LCD screen and battery pack. I played through the original Resident Evil, and although the screen was smaller, with headphones on, that eerie experience had me occupied for most of that flight. 

Portable gaming devices have seen a bit of a resurgence as of late with the Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Steam Deck, but there’s been one form of portable gaming that’s remained the most popular, and that’s mobile. Mobile games may have the biggest share of the gaming market, but among the gaming community, they’ve earned a negative reputation for being trivial money sinks. There are of course exceptions to this stereotype, but it’s easy to feel that too many go for the lowest common denominator of shallow time wasters. With our favorite franchises, we’ve faired a bit better on this front. Predators & AVP: Evolution by Angry Mob games, and the lite-sequel to Isolation, Alien: Blackout by D3 Go! were all solid games for mobile that didn’t push absurd micro-transactions as is so common among the platform today.

Mobile games didn’t always have this reputation though. When smartphones were first hitting the market and with tablets becoming popular shortly after, there were a number of games for them that were genuinely solid experiences. Dead Space and Infinity Blade come to mind, but the first time I remember being truly impressed with the potential of the platform was with an iOS tech demo called Epic Citadel. This short walking simulator showcased Unreal Engine 3 running on mobile hardware, and seeing it on the first generation of iPad back in 2010 showed that console quality experiences could be possible on a mobile device.  

I haven’t been impressed to that extent with anything else I’ve played on mobile devices since… until now.

Don't you think it defeats the purpose of playing it on mobile if you have to use a controller? I'm currently playing a lot of old emulated games on my tablet, connecting my dualshock to it and trying to prop it up. It is a bit of a chore. I'm not saying touchscreen controls are great either. But if I was wanting to play this portable, the Switch version would be the one to get.

I haven't played the Switch port myself but from what I've seen it's really well done.

I think it depends on the situation really. With iOS, as long as a controller is synced, reconnecting it is a simple as turning it back on. Just like people like to dock their Switch or take it on the go, part of a tablet's appeal is the versatility. More people are using iPads like laptops and having those higher quality gaming experiences available is great I think. You also see more smart phones having pretty large screens and bridging that gap between phone and tablet. I would definitely recommend a portable tablet stand or kickstand case if propping it up is a pain. The touch controls here do work really well though, so it's not like the experience is lacking without a controller, I just found it more ideal with one for longer play sessions.

I also wish more companies would support emulation of older games on mobile devices officially. There's a gold mine of older catalog titles that would do well.

I have a switch, but technically it's not really mine... it's my two sons' system really.

I leave for work trips a lot, and they'd kill me if I took their switch with me lol plus, I already bring my phone on work trips, so at most, I'd just be bringing along a controller. That saves some space; not much, but every little bit counts with overpacked suitcases.

Good analysis here. I wasn't crazy then, the game can run graphics mode at around 40fps on more recent devices.
