Hey AVP Galaxy,
this is Alex Popov (director of AVP:RedemptioN), im thinking of doing a prequel to my AVPRN film and will be lunching a indyGoGo campaign in a few month. We have an awesome little story planned that leads to the events of AVPRN. hopefully the fans will back us up and in return we will delivery a cinematic story that caters the fans of the franchise and not the studio execs.
Just want to hear your thoughts.
You are better at making AVP movies than Fox. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Loved the fights and the classic alien design on your movie, if you had been in Paul Anderson or the Strauses place fans could have gotten the AVP movie they waited for years.
Redemption was great. I'm about to rewatch it thanks to this post.
I've watched Redemption multiple times and I still give it a watch every now and then. Such a fun fan film. Well done, sir.
Thanks guys! its good to see that AVPRN is alive and well among fan community! If I end up pulling the trigger on a prequel, I guarantee its gonna be another fan favorite! :)
Spread the word and post your thoughts, I would love to hear them!
Meanwhile check out some teasers for the current project im wrapping up:

Welcome back, Alex! Was meaning to reply to your email but since you're on here!
I'm eager to see more and we'd happily support your campaign. I'd be wary of crowdfunding at the minute though. I've no idea how Fox would react considering the ongoing stuff with the Star Trek fanfilm, Axanar.
Thanks c. Hicks! from what know its not illigal, but im totally at the mercy of Fox on that. If the campaign flies under radar than it is what it is, if not and i get shut down, the funds will be redirected to an original film that has the similar vibe to satisfy a sci-fi fans cravings. That would be my plan "B" which already has an awesome outline of the story!
I still consider Redemption to be the best ever fan film this community has ever seen so I'd obviously be interested in a sequel. I thought you were slowly working on it unofficially since you showed off some renders a while ago.
Thanks Darkness! Since those renders there was no further work done on it, its a brand new start at this point.

It's not illegal, there's just some heat on it at the minute. I know Predator: Dark Ages managed to fund a campaign through crowd sourcing but they struggled quite a lot.
I'd be very happy to back your AvP campaign myself and I'd definitely support you with Galaxy but I don't imagine folk would be too happy if they're paying money to see an Alien vs. Predator film and it turns into something else. :-\
Yeah, like Alien Identity. I can't remember if they changed the project before or after the kickstarfer. Felt like that was the plan from the start.
They didn't get to the funding part for Alien: Identity. Fox C&Ded them before they got that far.
Is AVP Redemption on youtube or must you pay for it?
Its on youtube.
I guess I wont know until I try, Dark Ages flew under radar, so will see. I will however be shooting a live action teaser to get people excited about the project! very soon!
Can't wait to see what you have in store, sir!

Yeah, definitely a good idea to have an updated proof of concept! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
I do really suggest looking into these campaigns though - running them and getting them out there sounds like a complete chore.

Perhaps Patreon would be the way to gain financial support rather than a KICKSTARTER page that comes up more easily in general searches. I'm the last person to suggest something sneaky but when a company hates on a fan-made piece of work that isn't making them any money, they've gone too far. Half the fun of creating a universe is the ability of people to tell their own stories in that universe.
Also, here's another fan of Redemption looking forward to a future installment. May I suggest a break in the trend and not go the route of trilogy, just a sequel/prequel and move on to something else?
I'll look in to Patreon for sure, as for the trilogy, Im planning to bring something new and special to AVP universe :) At least some of the elements are going to be new!
Here is a little tease/test of what im working on
Looking good. Following the same setup as Redemption with the green screen and CG Aliens?
for the teaser yes, if the kickstarter goes well, i'd like to shoot on locations with as many practical effects as possible

Oh man, that'd be amazing. I'd love to see you take on full practical AvP.
What kind of locations were you thinking?
an old refinery station outside Los Angeles
Oh I bet that'd be really suitable! Do you have any scouting snaps?
Here are a few pics of the location
Those look great. Seem very suitable!

This looks amazing!
That looks fantastic, Alex. Really can't wait to see what you can do now with another 7 years experience! AvP Redemption is still one of the best A/v/P fan films out there!
Very much looking forward to this, I'll probably contribute to the KickStarter as well. Really enjoyed Redemption.
This continues to prove, removing poorly devolved human characters you'll be given what the fans want. Aliens and Predators fighting. Maybe they'll be another attempt to make Alien vs Predator as a movie hopefully one with Colonial Marines like in the dark horse comics. Where movies studios try to give us what htey think we want, we'll always have our fan films.
So are the Aliens actually going to be a threat this time or are they just going to be worthless bugs for the Predator to easily stomp?
Wow! Looking forward to seeing this! Makes me wish someone would make AVP4. Don't know why AVP3 got such a bad rap. I thought Rebellion did a pretty solid job.
Hey Alex, Loved your first film. Wrote an article about your trailer. Would you ever be interested in a community Q&A?

Just an FYI regarding your article, Apollo. It was Redemption that was made in 2 years and on a budget of $500, not Retribution. Alex hasn't completed Retribution yet.
Brilliant teaser, I really hope this happens. Will this be the only teaser you'll release for the kickstarter or do you have something longer?

I'll jump in and fix that right now. I'll reference you too. Thank you for letting me know! :)
Hey guys, thanks for the comments, I feel a lot of love here already towards AVP RB (retribution)! I am planning to do another teaser, a "full" short scene for the fundraising campaign. will be shooting it in a few weeks or so, and will need a few weeks or so to do the post on it. so i'll have some behind the scenes photos coming soon, there might be more exciting news ahead but its too early to say at this point, so stay tuned! :)
Are you planning on using some funds for an updated suit? Dark Ages really raised the bar on that front. Could be worth looking into what they did and getting a cosplayer involved.
Hello Mr. Popov, I have received your PM and sent you an email to the one provided on your youtube account. The email I sent from is support@globalavp.info
Thank you for addressing back to me as well. :)
Absolutely! The plans are not only use a high quality suite but create something original ! i will also be looking at practical alien suite!
That's fantastic! I'm glad to hear that. You would what I'd love to eventually see? A 1 on 1 film. Just one Alien and one Predator and each encounter and each scrap leaves one of the two with significant wounds. That'd be really fun to see.
Looking good.
Which Alien models did you use for that trailer? Still Swidhelm's, Fo Render's or from somewhere else?
Finally! A fan film to rival Vengeance for Wolf! !
I look forward to it
its a reworked Swidhelm's, mostly new textures and a little bit 3D tweaking
Nice to know! Swidhelm was working on an updated version which looked really good, but haven't released it.
I'll be interested in reading their Kickstarter pitch!
Hopefully not be long before it starts. Redemption really was amazing for its time and Retribution looks good from the teasers. I'll definitely be contributing towards the campaign.
