Alien and Predator universe generally connected?

Started by Neila, Oct 29, 2024, 09:45:39 AM

Would you like it if the A and P universes were generally combined?

No, absolutely not, they should stay separated. (no more AvP films either)
No, they should stay separated. (But I would like to see more AvP films)
Yes, why not, that would be cool.
I do not care

I think it's been working fine till now for the movies.

Separate threads. It's not like modern audiences aren't primed for multiverses.

SM

That was a Dire Straits reference rather than a value judgement.

I want my AvP also.

There was a time in the early 2000s when James Cameron & Sir Ridley Scott were collaborating on a 5th Alien movie. Eventually Scott dropped off the project, but Cameron continued to develop it until he was told AvP was in active development and he also stopped.

CANNON

Yeah that's depressing.. we were robbed there.

Huh, this is the first I'm hearing about Ridley stepping down before the project collapsed.

I think AvP works best clearly based around the first predator movie and the first two alien movies as a source.

So generally I think AvP should be its own things, with its storytelling centered around those movies.

That way we don't have to see the Preds don f**king NBC suits so they don't get infected by the black goo as it wouldn't exist in AvP.

Kind of like if Alien earth focuses on the first two alien movies and nothing else.

The funny thing is that because of AvP he rejected his other alien ideas.
In retrospect he thinks that AvP by Anderson is the third best Alien film. At least that's what I read in an interview.

SM

He said that in a red carpet interview not long after AvP came out I think.

Cameron says weird things. He said Genysis was great or something like that, just to support his old pal Arnie.

CANNON

Yeah, and after seeing those movies I would take Cameron's comments with a grain of salt. He probably has a vested interest somewhere, obviously he did for genisys as producer.

Neila

You can't trust anyone in Hollywood anymore. it's their job to market the films.

I still wonder today whether Weaver really liked Blomkamp's idea behind A5 or whether she just sensed big money?

ultimately it's a job.
