Quoteyou compare that to any western animation where every mannerism and inflection is designed to be as real and relatable as possible and you'll get why I don't like most Anime
... What? Disney and Pixar are full of exaggerated movement and emotion. Have you ever watched a Saturday morning cartoon? Have you heard of The Simpsons? South Park?

You seem to be missing the point. Whatever exaggerated movement and emotion are in Disney and Pixar, it's always down to a 2 while most, I REPEAT MOST, NOT ALL, Anime are cranked up to 11.

Watch Horton Hears a Who go from a 2 to an 11 for a minute.

Even family guy made fun of Anime's over-the-top animation.

And I don't know why you're so anxious to defend Anime, when it's clear that everybody including Anime fans agree with everything I'm saying. Here's a guy making fun of the voice acting.

Can you show me anywhere in this clip from Frozen where anybody randomly grunts or gasps followed by a long awkward pause? No they don't because this is what real people talking to each other sounds like. can you point out an example of exaggerated over-the-top emotion coming from Elsa or Anna? And I mean ANIME levels of exaggeration.

QuoteThis is why you're coming across as ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is pretending like these things are not unique to Anime, if they weren't why would Family Guy, Horton Hears a Who and various Youtubers constantly make fun of it?

QuoteLet's put it into context. "I've seen dozens of anime" isn't impressive. You can watch dozens of live action movies and not have gone past a Godzilla film.

Between 2001: a space odyssey, a Clockwork Orange, Forrest Gump, Seven, Beauty and the Beast, Battle Field Earth, Avengers, Saw, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What do these films have in common? Nothing. I can pull any anime from any Genre and I will find at least a handful of anime tropes that they have in common. I love When They Cry and Hellsing and even they do the emoji face crap that I hate and they're both horror/thriller anime.

QuoteHorny nosebleeds and faceplants are tropes that exist, but acting like they're intrinsic to the genre is just really silly.

Maybe so, but they are in a lot of them  and featured in the most popular anime of all time, so yeah, I have plenty of reasons to be cautious of anime touching Lord of the rings, even though it's most likely going to be like Blade Runner Blackout. which would be fine.

That's not actually an anime thing, that's more of a Japanese thing. You can find those sorts of reactions in plenty of live-action Japanese films -- even ones made long before anime ever existed.

QuoteI can pull any anime from any Genre and I will find at least a handful of anime tropes that they have in common.
Name any ridiculous live action trope and you can find films across every genre that includes them. That's why TV Tropes is even a thing.

And this is why the whole hand wringing is ridiculous. You know very well that, like any other medium, what's appropriate to the tone of the story is just as much a consideration for anime as anything else. You know that anime exists where those tropes aren't used because they have no place, but you're acting like it's reasonable to be concerned about a horny elf gushing blood over an embarrassed, face-planting dwarf or something.

Crazy Rich

Imagine being this bent out of shape over tropes that very well might not even be in the movie in the first place.

I kinda want something like a masochist elf and nose bleeding dwarf now just to see the reactions.
