19 minutes of footage is good for the amount of time you spend on the post production.

I mean this was finished very quickly wasn't it?

Alienseseses

No, I filmed by night and edited by day.

I just watched it and i really enjoyed this, i thought it was well done.

And a good use of Andrew Kramers Action movie Essentials gunfire and blood.

But the explosion effects sucked and the composited grenade didnt do its job either.

Anyway it was one of the best fanfilms i have seen a long time and a welcome change to all the utterly shit action figure films out there.

4/5

Its just a little offer, if you do something else that needs effects or so then feel free to contact me.

Hey, i would do it, the people i do effects for never complained but they actually pay quite a bit of money  ;)

One last thing, give the movie some color, make a better color grading so that it looks more professional

Alienseseses

Thanks for the comment. What would you suggest I do to spice up the explosions? I can't reshoot them but I can do something in post.
The grenade can be fixed... I can add color correction and blurs and maybe speed it up a bit.
If you're an effects guy, tell me what I can do to fix the grenade. A friend of mine made the model and animated it and all I can do is tinker.

The whole thing has color correction. Every last shot. Except for the flying grenade... I can fix that.

Anyway, it isn't really a fan film... It's an original idea.

I have some deleted scenes... are they worth posting?

Oh, and I'm fixing the grenade as we speak. That shot was the only one without color correction, so with it and a motion blur it might work.

Here's a grenade test. Before and after.

Tell me if it improves.

Make it new from scratch and use a fractal noise or explosion/greenscreen footage.

QuoteIf you're an effects guy, tell me what I can do to fix the grenade.
Its hard to describe what exactly to do, there is so much you can do right and wrong when it comes to effects, i have to do it myself.

QuoteI have some deleted scenes... are they worth posting?
I would post them later or keep them and make a special edition in a few weeks.

I saw it and it looks better but there is still something missing, its maybe the pace of the animation, it just doesn't look right.

Would you send me a PM with the link to the source footage and the grenade so i can show you how i would do it?

Alienseseses

Sorry, can't. I can send you the grenade alpha footage alone, though.

I don't understand what's wrong with the explosions. It's designed to blind them, so it's supposed to be a bright light.

That would be good.

I watched them again and they aren't so bad after all, maybe it was just that i expected a bit more explosion wise you know.
I´m used to using real exlosions, green screen footage which has to be keyed out or so, i think that Redemptions explosions look goofy too.

Alienseseses

I'll send the grenade to you in a PM. The original file doesn't move like it does in the movie. I keyframed it in Final Cut later. And the color is off because this isn't tinted.

Johnny Handsome

There isn't much i can do without the footage, but i can say this, the grenade itself is badly animated.

Your friend done this? Tell him he should render only the rotation of the grenade not the hole movement of the grenade falling down to the camera.
Keyframe the coming closer to the camera by hand then, will look much better.

Alienseseses

Her, actually.
But she isn't, like, my constant friend. I met her at this place where I edit the film. She works there too and volunteered to make a CG grenade.

I'm sure there's some way to make it better. Look at my before and after. Imagine my after, except it should go up for a second before going down when she throws.

Alienseseses

I have deleted scenes. Are they wanted?

Shadow

do a bonus clip with deleted scenes, it's always nice
