I really like that track from Super 8; it made me think of E.T.

I think Giacchino's pretty much Williams' successor.

Have to finally cave and put in the score for The Burning as a favorite.
It was so good, that Pokemon stole from it.

Hum .... some of my favourite scores include:

Inception
Gone Baby Gone
The Town
Gladiator
Little Women
Cinderella Man
Pride and Prejudice (the Keira Knightley version)
Black Hawk Down
Defiance
Road to Perdition
We Own the Night
The Kingdom

And for more popular soundtracks, growing up I was a fan of Empire Records, Grosse Point Blank, Tank Girl, Romeo and Juliet, and I'm always happy to hear some kind of ballad from the big summer movies - the Armageddon soundtrack was pretty good, if memory serves, and I've enjoyed the music from each of the Transformers movies!

I've been listening a lot to this over the last couple of days and I'm amazed. I was pretty much only familiar with that famous whistle tune before, but there's so much more to it. It's like there's a song for every kind of movie in here. Some could work great in a horror movie (Il Deserto), others could be right from a Disney movie (La Storia De Un Soldato) and others (Il Buono, Il Cattivo, Il Brutto and L'Estasi Dell'oro) are just so big or tense it sends a chill down your spine.

An amazing score.

I am not a Trekkie, but I know a good movie and I know good music. This is great music from a fantastic film, composed by James Horner, one of the finest musical artists to ever touch the screen. Right up there with the greatest works of Herman, Williams, Bernstein and Goldsmith.
