What are your favourite soundtracks?

It was based on a true story as well which makes it even more frightening. The Tsavo Lions supposedly killed over 100 railroad workers in one year, although I remember reading that that total was exaggerated and it was probably 30-40 people that the lions killed and ate. From the first attack to when the second lion was killed it was about 10 months so thats still almost one person a week was going missing. It must have been terrifying living in the camp. I think the two lions are now in a musuem somewhere in the US.

Finally someone edited together a version of this like the one that is in the movie that has the signature five beat drum.
Granted it fades out for a little bit during the transfer from the beginning to end credits but it is so worth it. Plus, 2:28-3:07 is the best this theme has ever sounded. Even better than T2.

About the Independence Day thing. I think sometimes a really good soundtrack helps to make the film feel more epic (obviously thats the intent) and appear that there is more going on (Back To The Future soundtrack is a good example where the director himself wanted the soundtrack to make what was happening onscreen seem more kinetic and exciting than it actually is). Granted ID4 didnt really need that because it had so much action anyway but Emmerichs previous film Stargate did and I loved the music for that. I loved it as a kid and when i watched it for the first time in many years a few years ago I was disapointed to find that there actually isnt that much happens in the film and its all cleverly disguised as a big action movie when there isnt even much action. The music helps alot with that. I still love the film, though Kurt Russel probably has something to do with that. I think that scene where they get picked off one by one in the pyramid and they dont know who or what is doing it is absolutely fantastic and the music accompanying it is great.

It has a somewhat Jurassic Park/John Williams feel to it. But a great track in my opinion. I know the film gets quite a bit of abuse, but it's of those films I am willing to defend.

Yep. A lot of films are like that. I've always said that when a film lacks a soundtrack, it lacks half of what it could have been.
