QuotePray. #AlienCovenant starring Katherine Waterston. In cinemas & @IMAX May 12.
is this legit or fanmade.
It's legitimately awful.
It's legit. It's off the official U.K. Instagram.
First disappointing poster so far.
Utterly horrible poster. Jesus!
Yeah safe to say we won't be seeing too many of those ones haha.

Oh, come on! It is pretty crapulous, especially after the run of amazing posters.
Just to say that here in the UK it would read better as '12 May'.
Yuck. I appreciate the artist's intent I just don't care for the follow through. Looks like something you'd find on Deviant Art. After the latest US poster this is extremely disappointing.
Doesn't it remind anyone of the Isolation posters?

Better.
I actually like the poster, reminds me of Alien Isolation and the penishead looks better than he did for the past two decades.
Happy for another "true to the form" Alien movie again, this is gonna be so much fun.
Obviously two or three separate elements - Daniels / Corridor / Alien - separated by shadow and mist...Photoshop 101
Kinda looks like something photoshopped by a fan...
Still, like the Isolation vibe.

I hate with a passion the Americanisation of UK film release dates, it's day then month (and to be on topic I'm also not a fan of this poster).
Prefer the Isolation poster more, partly due to fact the alien isn't grinning like a idiot.
;D
I agree, this definitely has a Photoshopped vibe. I suspect they cut around the Alien's head from a different publicity still, combined them and put some filters over the resulting combination.

DAT predator poster
@Xenomorphine
Something I've noticed for a while now
If Cole Sear (6th Sense) sees dead people well I see 'smiling aliens'.
;D
With regards to the poster,I'm alittle bemused why they've even released one.I think we've had our fair-share of poster related promos now for this film surely?
3 if I'm right in thinking.
And this one in particular,no disrespect to the designers, just seem really half-arsed.
If they're going to release a new poster make it something special. The last poster for the FOX/MARVEL produced LOGAN film was brilliantly crafted.

Isn't quite up there with the other Covenant posterangers, but I do still like it. Seems like a homage to Isolation. Would really love a Seegson reference in the film, or something....

I love artwork-style posters, but they haven't been a thing in the industry since the late 80s.
Look at the awesome artwork posters they used to do for each and every James Bond movie. Now it's just a photo of Daniel Craig walking towards camera pasted onto assorted backgrounds.
Fans are the only people who make proper artwork posters any more.
As much excellent artistic merit as that baby-inside-Engineer's-head poster has, I'm not at all sure what kind of a thematic message an ordinary person would be meant to take away from that. Human beings = brain cancer? A lot of people would just be WTFing about it.

Maybe it's the way Dutch looks a little feminised, but that makes it look like an advert for a 1980s music video. :)

Ouch. If this was sitting in a gamestop window with alien isolation 2 printed on it...it might work. I don't mean to be critical. I'm sure someone worked hard on it. But this feels more like fan art than a studio poster; Daniels looks slightly like Claude Rains.

Artistically, yes. I've already said it's very visually impressive. But it still has no logical message which is being conveyed. Most people who stopped to look at it in a cinema foyer would be compelled to look at it, but they'd have no idea what it's trying to say about the film's story.

I've seen tons of studio made posters that look this bad or worse, bad photoshop is very common these days. I agree it does look bad but i'm honestly surprised by how surprised the reaction to the quality of it has been. Especially when almost every film coming out of hollywood has at least one terrible poster.

I would get intrigued by it. It's just different from what we can see in cinemas today. Some people who wouldn't have an idea what it's trying to say about the film itself might try to google it and decide to see it. Cinema-goers like new stuff. When people, who are not Alien maniacs, look at this cheap cliche designed poster with Daniels and Xenomorph might think:
eh ... another boring monster slasher. Let's skip it.
...except the Alien is one of the most recognized creatures in film. Virtually no one who might be remotely interested is going to see Alien and think "oh, just another monster film."
And Xenomorphine is right. While that Prometheus poster may be artistically inspired and/or interesting to look at, it doesn't actually resonate with the film itself or have a thematic connection. Even the font used for the lettering is off (that is a different matter though.)

It has huge thematic connection. We can see an Engineer's face and human foetus inside his head/mind. It's a simple symbolism and a statement that we, homo sapiens come from them. That we, humans are their (Engineers') idea.

You're right about the font. It could have been different but it's not a big deal. Font can be easily changed.
Its fits for me as well, it connects that the Engineers are our creators and there is some nice Xeno stuff going on inside him as well.
Besides posters don't have to tell the viewer everything about a movie, it just has get your attention and get you interested, which this one does.
Also this franchise has a history with vague artistic posters.

...except the Alien is one of the most recognized creatures in film.

They didn't really create humans using their minds or imagination though. They simply copied themselves/spread their DNA. I know what you mean though and thought the same when I saw it.

Any idea has its begging inside our head. Mind if you prefer. By using their minds they created (?) that liquid (we can see it n the prologue) to dissolve their DNA and create new life (
sometimes to create, one must first destroy). Therefore they created us by
using their minds.
That's assuming it was the engineer's idea(s) to begin with, which Prometheus didn't address.

Yeah you're right. This is what we could assume by watching it. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. It was
Prometheus' major concept and it's displayed on that poster.

But the idea or theme of the poster isn't present in Prometheus. We don't know why the engineers created humans or if it was even their idea to begin with. It's one of the issues with the film. If it were true that it wasn't the engineers idea to create humans, that poster would be even more incongruous. The film pretends to be smart while that poster actually is smart.

Poster cannot answer question:
why they created us? For that reason it's vague and intriguing. We have to wait and see
Covenant and its sequels.
Really cool poster!!!! ive got it as my desktop screen i know some have said it looks to fan art but i really like it reguardless

Sure it could, not that it wants or needs to. Prometheus didn't need to answer "why" either, but if it did we would have more insight into the matter than we do now. Some of the film's aspects are so vague or ambiguous they become practically meaningless, and needing a sequel to inject sense into it doesn't make Prometheus any less of a failure on those fronts.

Very much so.

Thats what I was thinking. An attempt to appeal to gamers. No doubt aimed at sites and retail that tie in with gaming.

The tagline of this poster reads
"What will be the end of mankind?"
His creation! Dun dun dun!
It's A.I. The answer is A.I.
