Following on from yesterday’s big trailer reveal and info dump, Predator: Hunting Grounds is now available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store and Epic Store. Along with the option to pre-order the standard games, we’re now seeing that there’s also a Digital Deluxe edition available for the PlayStation!

The Deluxe edition comes with some additional extras, including:

• PlayStation®-themed Fireteam Camo and Weapons Skin, Predator and Armour Skin.
• PlayStation®-themed Predator Mask War Paint, 48-hour double XP boost and five Field Lockers.
• Early Access to the Battle Hardened Assault Character and Predator Eclipse Mask.
• Predator: Hunters digital comic, dynamic PS4™ theme and digital mini art book.

There doesn’t appear to be a Deluxe Edition available on the Epic Store. It’s also unknown if the game will be receiving a physical release. The dynamic theme is accessible straight away and also comes with a number of avatars that you can find below.

The pre-order pages also confirmed that Predator: Hunting Grounds will also feature optional in-game purchases, and released some cool new screenshots from the game.

Why you do not like the idea of pre-order? Is it general or this particular one?
IMO it is a good tool if used right like for example offering free incentives or dlc content which can be purchased on launch day by those who have not pre-ordered. Also some retailers guarantee to charge the cheapest price they offered between a placed pre-order and a launch day or they charge only on the shipping day. The worst thing about it is if exclusive content cannot be obtained any other way.

General but you can use ACM as an example. People preordered a game based on footage that wasn't in the final game. Its false advertisement, gaming companies making fool of consumers. Many games look better on E3 than in the final product, and considering how expensive games have become its bullshit. I don't like being deceived. I don't trust them.

Also the exclusive content aka pay to get content, not a fan, leads to microtransactions and the pay to win multiplayers. I'm old school, I like a full game with stuff that can be obtained by playing it, by earning it, instead of getting half of one and having to pay for the rest over the course of a season pass, in some games people can just pay to get an advantage in a match. Takes out a big part of the enjoyment I have in playing.

I was briefly considering going with the deluxe edition, but looking at that image of the stuff it features now I think I'm back to regular.

Two of the things are just early unlocks, the camo you can barely make out anyway, I don't care about themes, dynamic or otherwise, I've already got Hunters in trade and XP boosters and extra "field lockers" are just speeding up the inevitable anyway.

The digital art book might be cool, but yeah, not really worth it.

The deluxe edition is only digital as it says? So I can't get a physical deluxe edition copy at GameStop or amazon? Also if I buy the physical copy at GameStop or amazon and I preorder it, the 87 jungle Predator and ole painless are the only things I will get? I won't get anything that is advertised for the digital deluxe edition?

We don't know whether or not we might be getting a physical edition yet. Hopefully we do. And no, you won't get anything that's exclusive to the digital deluxe version if you buy the regular one, though some of those items are just early unlocks anyway, so you'll still get them, just not immediately.

Painless is also listed as an early unlock if you pre-order, so everyone will be able to get that regardless of whether they do or not. It looks like the Jungle Hunter skin is the only thing you have to pre-order to get.

Epic Games Store gives away a coupon valued at $10, £10, €10 and so on which will expire on May 1, 2020 at 2:59AM Eastern Time. It can only be applied to purchases of qualifying games that have already been released on the Epic Games Store. So there is a chance it will apply to Predator: HG after its release too.

Pre-order bonus are typically offered later, they just don't talk about that up front because they want you to pre-order.

Recently the pre-order bonuses for 'Jedi: Fallen Order' were given to all players.

Yeah now that we've had confirmation on the classes and customisation, the possibility of other movie (and/or comic, figure etc.) skins being included either as unlockables or as future DLC is the question I'd most like to know the answer to.

Hopefully since we know we'll be getting Jungle Hunter that might open the door for other skins to be included, since if they were to sell DLC those would surely be the most popular/best-selling.

I'm a bit surprised to hear such unambiguous language regarding the '87 skin not being sold later. Like RidgeTop said, usually pre-order stuff is sold later but they just can't say it, or else potentially risk those precious pre-orders. We usually get ambiguous terms like "so, right now we're just focusing on this as pre-order content" rather than ever actually say "no, we'll never be selling this later." This was a bit more blunt, but I guess there's technically still some wiggle room there. Maybe in the days since they came up with a plan to sell it post-launch, so it's still technically and chronologically accurate (the best kind of accurate)! :P

But yeah either way I'll be pre-ordering, so no real worries there. I'm just waiting for any UK retailers to actually put listings up for a physical version. I'm beginning to think this could end up being a digital-only release over here.

Some games don't release Pre-order content (I think AVP 2010 didn't) but more often than not if they aren't releasing the item they do release something similar.

Back when Marvel Heroes was still around the Founders got Symbiote Spider-man which came with new dialogue and visual FX to represent the alien suit. Later on they released black suited Spider-man which had new lines (or at least an altered set) and it lacked the goo FX on the model and tendrils so it looked like cloth. The reasoning being that those who opted in could retain the unique item but it didn't bar others from getting similar versions.  .

In this case I'd imagine that if for some reason they don't release the 87 Predator we'd get something like the Classic Predator (the one that got crucified in Predators) or I could also see them releasing Greyback later. A bunch of Predators use that armor set so it's entirely possible they could release a new skin later with some alterations for those who missed out.

Yeah there's never any point pre-ordering too soon when it's usually not until a while later that the obligatory special editions, deluxe editions, collector's editions etc. (if the game ends up having them) are even announced. Always better to wait and see which version is the one you're actually going to want to buy.

I don't know if I'm gonna pre-order or not but what I've seen looks pretty good. Honestly if enough of people here get the game on Playstation I might hop in to play with you rascals.

I can confirm there's gonna be no fancy pants physical release for this one. We get a physical release but it's just standard. I'll be making my pre-purchase on the PlayStation Store soon.

Confirmation of a UK physical release is certainly good. I'll continue to keep my eyes peeled for it on the usual sites.

Ultimately as much as I'm looking forward to it I wasn't planning on getting the deluxe version, so standard being the only one that's getting a physical release is ok with me.

Standard physical works for me also. I know some of you guys are UK so hopefully the servers will still let us play together.

I pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe earlier this week but the theme and avatars still haven't shown up yet. Do I need to do something extra to get them? Baring in mind I don't really play the PlayStation, not sure how it's supposed to work.

I've seen some people saying on Twitter that they're not showing up for people in certain regions, so despite it saying that those are instant unlocks it might just be busted.

On the other hand you could try going to your downloads section and seeing if there's anything there. Failing that check your library and see it there might be downloads there, or if it gives you a pic of the game on your dashboard with a countdown timer to release look below it to see all the associated downloads and you might find them there.

Just asked Playstation support. UKians won't get the content until the game's release for some reason.

That's dumb. They really should update the store description to reflect that. Pretty sure I checked just a few days ago and it was still saying the theme and avatars were instant unlocks.

There should not be any unless they censored it for this particular country and limited it to German language only. Also those could impact additional DLC expansions. However it is very unlikely in this case IMO.

I swore I would never pre order a game again, but my son spent his allowance money on it after a lengthy discussion about predatory consumer tactics lol. He totally zoned out haha. He isn't waiting until release day and reviews.

That's just the countdown timer you get when you pre-order digitally that tells you when it'll be playable. Like Hicks said, if they do a pre-load it won't be for at least another month yet.

The countdown timer still stays there even if you pre-load a pre-ordered game. So yeah. That is why I asked you guys about confirmation of the game's pre-load availability.

I finally set up the PS4 and as suspected I couldn't personally download the game. I just see the timer and I have the game pre-ordered. So who knows what that's about.

May I say was pre-ordering Predator: Hunting Grounds was worth it for the dynamic theme alone?  I've been playing Doom Eternal lately on PS4 and logging in and just being greeted with the iconic Predator theme music and imagery every time has just been a joy!  :)

After the weekend trial I did preorder the PC version. Had fun!

I wonder if you get the 1987 skin if you pre-order physical copy? Not all sites mention it.

Weird that a physical copy would show up so late in the UK and only on a few completely random sites.

Oh well, though my preference was physical I already went ahead and pre-ordered the digital one, so I'm just going to go ahead and get that.

Some might find this redundant and wasteful, but having already pre-ordered the digital version, I plan on buying a physical copy as well to put on my shelf. It will be down the road though... a nice used copy or new one once it has reduced in price.

Seemingly a primarily digital release that physical wasn't prioritized and with the current pandemic probably especially wasn't a priority in order to get this tittle out. Not only for virus carrying concerns but that not enough people would be able to access brick and mortal retail locations that it's not worth it. Probably whatever they had got picked up by those who thought they could take it while the bigger sites focused on other things.

I'm saying it's likely not prioritized for a retail release in the first place and with the current pandemic they have little reason to put out too many physical copies anyways. Outside of online retail at least here in the United States few locations are even open to sell it outside of larger chains that are deemed essential. I am not under any assumption Sony knew but it wouldn't be surprising if the physical copy cropped up in small quantities or on smaller sites given the current state of the world and focus on digital anyways.

Not that I'm getting it on PC, but I do like that they've got their own Epic version of the Sony-exclusive warpaint, this time looking like the classic Unreal "U". Seems like they took quite a while to put that up though. People were saying just the other day that there didn't seem to be a deluxe edition for the PC version.

Only recently it seems, yes. So did something fall through the cracks, or did we miss something, because it's not a terribly smart business decision to make it available to the die-hard fans until now (especially if they cannot upgrade their pre-order).

Agreed - I would think that Epic/Sony would know that die-hard fans would snatch that deluxe version up more quickly than a standard gamer (imo). When I tried to get a refund, it fell past the 14 days limit to do so, which I think means my corner-case probably fell between the cracks. I have a request into Epic support to see if I can get the standard version upgraded.

Turns out pre-orders can be refunded at any time prior to release. But Epic support is anything but quick to respond to requests. :(

An extra 20 bucks for a comic book...some time saving XP....(you already have the ol painless weapon mind you which unlocks at lvl25)...no art book and some skins which I think is rather smug but whatever there is no war between sony and epic so what gives?  I think I'll go out and buy a bucket of KFC with the extra cash.

Some folks might find the time saved with the extra XP period beneficial and/or even worth it if they value their time. I personally am not a fan of skins since they don't add any real value in the game (e.g., increased strength/endurance/etc.).

The Ilfonic Predator uses the 87 style rather than it's own shoulder cannon in this screenshot. So the way I see it is that it's possible the cannons are different visuals. One could potentially swap out the model for the preferred one and that'd make some sense since later DLC can use the alternate guns. We might already have some precedent with that as the spear used in some trailers and even the PSN theme is using an alternate combistick (P2 style) and so this might indeed be the case.

The only other explanation I have is JH being a full model change as the class while it's a cosmetic item otherwise which results in the alternate plasmacaster. I guess I'll know in a few hours.

It is still weird to promote it this way.

That's a very old image though. I'd love it if you could customise the look of those too, but chances are it was changed a long time ago to what we've got now and that's just going to be the default look for it no matter which class or skin you're using.

Looks to be pretty much exactly the same size as the trial was, so my hopes for any more maps than we got there are down to almost nil at this point. But still excited to play it!

Yeah I'm watching an Australian stream now with the Jungle Hunter whose bio mask has been shot off, and his face looks great! They really did a good job of making him look accurate to the movie.

Not sure about the elder sword weapon though, it seems slow and has a lot of animation priority. But we'll see for ourselves soon!

EDIT: It seems the combistick is now a level 42 unlock too, so we won't be seeing or using that in any matches again for a while.

That's kind of weird that this is the second time this sort of thing happened. I remember seeing screenshots of Concrete Jungle (early build) years and years ago having the 87 gun and they ended up using the AVP version instead. What's weird is that this was the gun they had in the early screens for Hunting Grounds and the JH model they showed at GDC also had the 87 cannon. I'm very much interested in why that was changed. It's not game breaking to me but it seems really odd they actually modeled it and didn't implement ti.

Maybe it's somewhere in the game but still odd it's not on JH.

I remember I had to complete 85% of Concrete Jungle just to unlock the City Hunter skin, only to be SEVERELY disappointed with it.  >:(

Wow, that is really fast. I still haven't gotten a response for my refund.

I played this for a little bit and its fun. The 87 skin looks great so I'm glad I pre-ordered. I feel like I'm not very good playing as Predator. I need to play more. Also once there were many NPCs around me when a match started and they were shooting me. It felt like a glitch.
