Nice detail here. So we see something, what we havenĀ“t seen since ALIEN3, something special, which only happened in the third movie :D  Who guesses what that is? ;)

I give up

It's probably not destroying the camera, it's probably just capturing it killing a crew member, although the angle would I guess be wrong. We will see.

More importantly, the later sequence showing ridley etc with the practical alien head/torso? With the blood on the mouth, green screen etc, looks like those of us who said the alien in the trailer cut together with Daniels in zero was practical were right  ;)

Thats what i thought, but if you look in the right corner you can see "section-d" so most likely a security camera.
The question i have, is it David or Walter that pulls his head back out of jumpscare, if its Walter, it means he made it back to the Covenant,
and did he won the fight with David, and will Walter now turn evil?
Or is it David on the Covenant, so David is scared of the xeno, or at least impressed.

This makes me wish that I had HBO.

No, it's definitely a security camera, I didn't realise the angle - the alien is standing up, it's tail over it's right shoulder (!) killing the camera specifically.

Impressive.

Clever girl ....

So whats next, an HBO Alien series :)

The alien must be headbiting somebody who has one of those "mother" monitors right behind him, because no covenant crew member carries a camera like colonial marines, me guess. Walter just witnesses this while tracking the alien I suppose.

If this not, then it might be:

a) The alien is very smart and begins breaking cameras so they can't track it
b) David gets headbiten

I wouldn't say no to that. lol. It's good to see them doing this though. I have vague memories of the old HBO special they did for AvP back in the day.

I really hope this is the case. I think it'd be a great addition to the showcase of their intelligence.

Yep, and with a limited series you could show a lot of the franchise, not too much though, or else it could easily become a Stargate series and loose the magic.

But yeah, I think if they ever did attempt Alien on the small screen, they'd need to do it in a more limited format with a smaller number of episodes.

I used to record HBO's BTS Alien specials. There was one for A3 and A:R. Now Im using a DVR to record this one. My biggest gripe with these BTS specials is they dont get in depth ENOUGH!

A Game of Thrones style ALIEN series, would be incredible.

I think we've heard rumors that the Alien can communicate with the ship, in a more direct way. Im not sure how I feel about that. Depends on how its handled I think. I like the idea of a Biomechanical alien that intuits the workings of technology but if the idea here is the mechanical aspects have been removed from the alien and will be added later, than I think they should wait for that. Unless the idea is the Alien is part AI, in THIS film, it should just be that the alien is a smart animal.

LoL dont worry, i have seen them all when growing up, still have a few episodes of Stargate Universe on my harddrive, lot of potential in that show, but somehow it didnt connect with the people.

What i meant was, that if they do it, they shouldnt go into the engineers like in a Stargate way, when they show a village and an engineers is cooking is stew on fire and is frustrated and yells at his kid and then a dropship comes into the athmosphere and lands, and bla bla and in the end the engineer shakes hands with the colonial army boys because he was wrong about them. ;)

Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis just got better over time. That's not a common occurrence in media.

On the subject of serialisation though, I wonder how a Mass Effect style Aliens game could work? Have the 'hub' and supporting characters be a Weyland-Yutani commando unit (or Colonial Marine detachment tied at the hip to WY) specialising in our favourite dribbly critter. Conversational, gameplay and narrative choices based on whether or not you want to toe the company line, and the mission-based planet-hopping format providing scope for exploring diverse aspects of the Alien universe.
