On June 11, 2011 Gearbox Software had a Community Day for fans. The studio confirmed at the event that actor Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Alien 3, AvP, AvP 2010) is one of the guest stars set to lend his voice for the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines videogame. He will be playing Rook, a Weyland-Yutani synthetic.
“The synthetics manufactured by Weyland-Yutani all look the same, and so Lance [Henriksen] is involved. There’s a synthetic named Rook that has the same likeness as Lance, and the same voice. He’s Bishop from the movie.” – Randy Pitchford
Other guest appearances include William Hope (Aliens), who will be portraying Commander T. Shannon in the game. You can listen to a full recording of the panel and presentation here.

Listening to the audio from the conference - sounds like the whole 'crusher' thing is the result of an Alien being irradiated by the blast, not host traits.

I was thinking about the name Rook for a synthetic yesterday, like in chess with Bishop and all, and is clearly what they were going for.
I would rather have him play salvaged Bishop, or pissed off Michael Bishop from Alien 3 (complete with torn off ear), but I suppose a new character would be okay.

Originally, we were told that the setting for the game would consist of entirely new locales that would expand what we know and understand about the mythology of the
Aliens universe. Concept art for this was released for this a few years ago and it looked great. But the last time I checked, it was stated that the entire game would be broken into three acts set in completely familiar environments; The Sulaco, Hadley's Hope, and The Derelict.
I just hope that a few
new things can be introduced here besides "the crusher" alien that's already been reported on. A "true sequel" to
Aliens, as this game was described, entails a continuation of a story to me...not a repeat of an old one.

Hey, you know what would be fun? If we could just whip out some of those old AvP2010 threads and put them side-by-side with these. The posts are exactly the same.
I'm sorry...I don't mean to be rude or sound like a broken record. You guys have every right to be excited about this if you want, but I've learned my lesson from SEGA and the AvP franchise. The more they talk about this game, the more red flags keep popping up.
The "crusher" Alien..? "Irradiated by nuclear fallout"..? (lol!) Are you serious? Give me a break. So they're going to have the Kenner toys running around in Hadley's Hope now. (lol!) Sorry, but I just can't stop laughing at the thought of it. It all sounds pretty cheesy to me. Will he fly around and carry a SADAR, too?
I can't wait to see what else they've thrown in there. ::)
With all due respect, guys...I really would urge you to keep your expectations in check. It's more and more apparent to me that this is just another cheap movie tie-in game that they allowed to collect dust on the shelf for years until they could rush it out the door in time to capitalize on Ridley's prequel. End of story. We already know that SEGA won't support it, so...I guess I just don't understand what everyone is so excited about.
So with regard to all of this (seemingly unfounded) enthusiasm, I think Ripley said it best: "I hope you're right...I really do."

The lack of split screen sucked so effing much.
The splitscreen is awesome news; it seems to be ignored way too much in games nowadays. I hope it's stacked screens though, I f**king hate when they're in seperate corners. Stacked is a much better way because it keeps the proper aspect ratio and it's not disorienting. Also, larger seperate screens. I hope they do up to 4 players as well...
Lnace is having a pretty good run with voice acting.
It's the stuff where he is on film where he is having trouble.
Same with Keith David. Not suprised they got him back. He is always welcome.
I'll take the wait and see approach. Just like using the same settings over and over, the same voice actors are getting a little meh as well.

Wasn't an issue for his role in AVP3, so I don't see why it should be here...
"Weyland Yutani building more androids" should be there motto. Lance Henriksen is a good actor I couldn't see anyone else playing Bishop, Karl Bishop Weyland and Bishop 2 (The Alien 3 character I'm still not sure if he is an android or not.)

It's still recognizable, shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah... the Aliens being mutated by radiation is very eye roll worthy and just seems like a lazy explanation for new classes. I'd almost prefer it being a new class of Alien.

Naturally, id say that Henriksen is being way too overused in the AvP universe. I mean, sure, he did a good job in AvP2010, a Superbly amazing job in Aliens but a downgrade in Alien 3, but he should be given a break from it all.

Yeah... I love Lance, but it does feel like he's becoming the "star" of the Aliens series in the same way Michael Gross's character Burt became the common face of the Tremors franchise.
I guess if you don't count the AvP franchise he has only been in two of the films, so its no biggie. I am really glad he is in A:CM, but it would have been interesting if Ian Holm was in the game. Maybe as a WY android.
