Now this is the extra I'd like to see on blu-ray - making of documentary on Secret cinema's immersive, interactive installation type screenings of Prometheus...

Looks like the BBFC have removed all the DVD/Blu-ray extras listings... so probably no more updates until the official announcement :(

The older version looked better. Honestly the new version with the zombie make up and horrible editing thrown in just made the scene look hilarious with him going all rage-zombie and punching the shit out of people.

I'd have to see the alternate version before I make up my mind. I love the scrapped design, but the new one served its purpose as well.

So far, I prefer the new one, it looks a lot more scarier. However, I still want to see the scrapped design in action.

I will say this; if the alternate Fifield design is used for the deleted scene on the Blu-Ray, then I know which version of the attack sequence will be making its way into my fan-edit!

I can see why he changed it from the point of view of someone who is pandering to over all pretty dense audiences. The CGI creature might be confusing to some as to it's origins. It's obvious to us, who have poured over these things like forensic scientists, but to the causal viewer?

I can also see why he might be inclined to use an actor because of the performance. Then again, we haven't seen this CGI monster in action. We don't know how well it emotes and if it comes off as a living, breathing creature on screen.

That and the fact that he came out and said that he changed the design. It originally looked like this:

But Ridley was unhappy with it and changed it to this:

Thanks for posting those images. I've never before seen the first two images. I can see why Ridley decided to change the final design.

You can? Really?!
It's just a guess. I think that the eariler design just looked too radically different from the human Fifield to the point that it becomes almost impossible to tell that they are one and the same. I also think that the second, more human Fifield, looks more scarier.

On the plus side, the eariler design of Fifields gives more of an idea of what the black goo was meant for.

Okay, I can't find any comparison photos, sorry. So here's my own attempt:
ORIGINAL TRAILER FOR TRAILER FIFIELD:

(Time: 0:12)
Spoiler

LATER TRAILERS:

(Time: 2:32)

It's hard to see but I swear, the proportions of the body are different. Original: long limbed and alien-like. Later on, it's much more human-like proportions, since it's actual Sean Harris rather than a digital beast.
Both versions still look the same to me. I think I'll just wait until the blu-ray comes out.

Look closer man. It's not even close to the same
I finally noticed the difference after seeing the first trailer seven times. Yeah, the right arm is definitely a lot more elongated than it appears in the final movie. But is that the only shot/pic that shows that Ridley may have changed Fifields' final design?
