Prodos/Archon did the Nemesis miniatures too IIRC.

Really? I didn't know that, thought they did it all themselves, did they do all the other AR games too?

A lot of board games manufacturers subcontract the production of models out to specialist companies. Hell, even some wargames companies. Iirc the ill-fated Battletech revival subcontracted its miniatures to SodaPop.

Hell, Games Workshop themselves didn't make their own miniatures til around 79.

Not 100% sure, but Archon does the miniatures for a lot of games, so it's entirely possible.

Looks like GF9 are getting ready to roll out resin APC kits. They're taking pre-orders, only through their website:

I really dislike their website. I've completed orders for a set of plastic assets and warriors twice and never received an invoice or been charged.

Can't say I had any problems. Weird. What country you trying to order to?

Good God that Alien Queen's awful.

I have mixed feelings about it, having done a test-fit of the model to get an idea of how it comes together. I've decided to sculpt an entirely new face onto the head because the stock one is disproportionate and fugly. I'll also trim the spines along the tail so they're more in line with the movie and not weirdly mismatched. Aside from that, the halves of her torso assembly don't sit together very well which might require some extra work, but hey.

She's very cheap for a model of her size and she looks like what she's supposed to be. I never got a Prodos queen and I'm sure as hell not paying £100+ for one on ebay that's got a 50% chance of being a recast.

I will say tho, GF9 have been very cunning with their photos of the queen kit. She looks a lot worse from other angles. Initially I thought the head looking oversized was due to foreshortening haha.

New Zealand.

Thing is, Flames of War is based here so it shouldn't be a problem.

Based on what I saw on their website, GF9 ships from the UK. Not sure what the relationship is between them and flames of war or if they have regional offices, but if GF9's stuff is only coming out of the UK it may be due to COVID/Brexit complications.

It wouldn't be having any greater impact on international shipping than it would on internal shipping for stuff like this and they certainly didn't have any notice about it anywhere. I think they ship to asia-pacific from their other (US) base though. I'm hesitant to try a third time in case they turn around and charge me for all 3 attempts, and my emails about it have gone without reply.

That's a shame. Gotta wonder what's going on there.

Out of curiosity, how much would you pay for one that definitely isn't a recast?

Eighty-Five

Idk, maybe ~£50. I don't care that much about getting a slightly nicer sculpt of a creature I already have represented, and Prodos models have their own drawbacks. I'd be more excited about getting a Praetorian.

I think anyone who's doing stuff like paying £400 for Prodos dropship kits and such is a mug honestly. The only reason the prices get so high on the aftermarket is because people lack the self-control to force sellers to lower their expectations. I suspect those closing-down sales have made a few scalpers lots of money.
