So let me get this right...the "space jockey" helmet, which the crew brought into the Prometheus for study, turns out to basically have a human head inside ? !!!!!!

Although, upon further reflection, I shouldn't be surprised given the ridiculous "ancient astronaut" story-line.

Here is a good look at the snake head both when it is folded up and also when it is opened but momentarily in someone's flashlight beam:

Good grabs. Plenty of biological room for it to 'open up more' and have some functioning nasty parts.

Facehugger sans legs. Maybe it preforms a similar function.

Take a closer look at the second pic - there appears to be tiny finger structures in those parts opening up... you can sort of see the outline of them under the skin...

Clearly something is meant to come out of the vertical slit in the "head". I don't know if that is biting mouth or an ovipositor but there is an opening for something

It's not a human head, it's the Engineer's.  Who is humanoid sans the suit.  Scott's only been hinting at this for decades.

I see what you mean. It has more surprises in store for us, that's for sure. It's going to be an interglatic version of Dennis Nedry and the Spitter.

I figured I'd wear my thoughts on my sleeve. The mask/helmet is something more.

In space ... nobody can hear you scream ... with a mouth full of lifeforms.

I can easily imagine the trunk being the calcified remains of the snake after it has attached to the helmet and provides air to the host much like the facehugger does, then maybe it takes control of you. I dont know
