I've made a few checks on this source and the story and it all seems pretty trustworthy to me, so please take this news as you wish.
First of all, this source managed to come across a call sheet which was for filming between April 6th - 8th. The call sheet was for the S Stage at Pinewood, where apparently the bridge of the Prometheus was being filmed. On this call sheet were the following names:
Charlize Theron - Vickers
Idris Elba - Janek
Emun Elliot - Chance
Benedict Wong - Ravel
Emun Elliot is previously known from TV series Lip Service, and Benedict Wong is probably better known having played in movies such as Sunshine, Moon, Dirty Pretty Things and Spy Game.
To back this story up, Wong's twitter feed on March 22nd (the day after Prometheus began shooting) secretly confirms his involvement in Prometheus.

And here's the most interesting news, I've left for last:
"Though security on the set is very tight with the good weather, dock doors have been open and cast and crew have been enjoying lunch outdoors.
I can confirm seeing 3 aliens having lunch. Not the whole costume but blueish costumes and the unmistakable heads hanging around their shoulders"
I asked the source to elaborate some more on the look of the aliens, and their resemblance to the aliens from the original Alien movies:
"The alien heads were the same shape but no markings, only a plane bronze colour. As for the suits black boots and shoulder pads the rest was a Chelsea blue body suit could be for SFX, all the sets around the back of the bond stage have huge green chromokey maybe that's a clue.
I have witnessed foam cut outs of unmistakable aliens all cut in half lengh ways so they could be in the floor walls etc and very much from the original film."
My informant also managed to take a look at the Bond stage, where according to previous rumors the Space Jockey's space craft has been built. And his impression pretty much backs this rumor up:
"I managed to enter the bond stage one weekend when no filming was sheduled all I can say is there is a very very long tunnel that leads to an enormous structure at the back of the stage which is the same height as the stage and probably extends out another 200 ft.
All of these sets are surrounded by wood foam and scaffold so sid not see inside, I think this is were the Space Jockey set is."

Nice! I spoke to somebody on twitter the other day who said they spotted several aliens subathing in the garden at Pinewood, but unfortunately she said I'd have to wait until the film to find out what they look like! Also there was an "alien" vehicle that drove by.

I'm going to catch flak for this, but I'm not that ecstatic about the prospect of seeing the old alien shape as it was described above. After hearing the reports about the redesigned "perverse" aliens, lol, I was curious to see Ridley's team venture into somewhat new territory while still remaining in the Alien universe.
Wong was Sam Bell's WY-esque boss in Moon. Nice touch.
He was also more known for playing Trey in Sunshine :)

I wouldn't lose hope just yet, all we really know is that the basic head shape is there. The rest is anybody's guess at this point.
I think maybe the ones described here will be the "birth" of the alien as we know it, but I bet they'll also be other types included too.

at least some proper "news" after the last few childish threads by dandan - and even though no one knows for sure if this is real, at least there is a good chance it is.
was really looking forward to seeing something new, so i hope the "regular" alien designs will only appear in the end of the movie to make the connection - before they should concentrate on the jockeys / the non-human form of the aliens.

The way I see it, its just what Ridley said it was. It started off as a prequel, but morphed into something new. Its a standalone piece in the same universe that, despite taking place before the first film, isn't really a prequel.

So it's a film, set in the ALIEN world, not about the events leading up to the happenings on the Nostromo, but a new tale entirely. It's like they're making a new alien series completely divorced from the original series. I'd say this is definitely a reboot of sorts.

They can't be trying to fool the Alien fans, because realistically, there are not enough of us to give a shit about. Which can only mean they are trying to keep it under wraps to the general audience - who ironically probably don't give a shit if it's an Alien movie or another Sci-Fi piece?

I Can't see it myself. I Can't remember a movie that's ever been advertised as something it's not. Intrigue only works if it's fresh - Super 8 or Cloverfield.
Don't get me wrong I like the whole idea, I just think putting the original Alien in this is not a smart move.
I think they are using men in suits for the Xenos but they will be HEAVILY edited using CGI and such. Thats the best way to do it if you ask me. As long as they are closer to the original Xenos (ALIEN, ALIENS) then the retarded ones (A:R,AvP,AvP:R) yet still different to make sense I will be happy.

I get what your saying. I agree though it is stupid. If it has a connection to the franchise they should be proud, not try and hide the fact that it is a Alien prequel.
If we get the Alien in anything that's not retarded, I'm going to explode with joy. Ridley, save the poor Alien. It went from being the horrifying vent-rapist we love to the rape victim. Fox put it up on the pinball machine like Indy in that South Park episode. That's literally how I feel.

My mom is really into the Alien films, she's the reason I saw ALIEN and ALIENS at age 8, and a big part of why I love the series as much as I do. So when I told her, "Hey guess what? Ridley Scott is directing a new alien movie!" she was very excited. Whenever I visit her, she asks me if I heard any new news on the film.
I've gone from telling her, "It's an Alien prequel, with redesigned Aliens!" to, "It's just a film set in the Alien universe, with probably no actual Aliens in it, maybe the space Jockeys". Then I say, "Well, apparently not only does it have aliens in it, but they seem to be very close to the original alien... and there is alot of them". Now when she asks, I just say "I have no idea what they are doing with the movie, the info I get seems to do a 180 every month."
I'm trying to get hyped and excited, I just need to know what it is I'm getting hyped and excited for...

I agree with you. I think EVEN that this film may leave things open for them to REMAKE a version of ALIEN with the new expanded mythology. While also, setting up the original films. That way if it is unsuccessful it serves as an ALIEN, or the studio can have the option of making a second reboot of ALIEN, or even just say to a screenwriter, "Make us a soup! Write the next ALIEN film."
This would explain the whole "pushing the boundaries of what TENT POLE Sci-Fi can be..."

Looks like the outside of a small corridor set. Or a section of a small corridor set.
Brings to mind scenes reminiscent of Dallas in the Air duct or Hicks and Ripley leading the escape to the dropship.
Then again, it could just be a regular sized hallway segment. Hard to tell the scale. Especially if the built it to accommodate camera and crew.
