Yeah you need to connect your player with the latest firmware often. Similar to how you have to update a PS3 or Xbox360 to keep all the latest releases smooth.

With the Hell Hound, I thought you said you just clicked the banner to get the points.  Either way, I dunno about that.  I beat both the Berzerker and the Falconer without dying once and I still got 3600 and 900 points respectively.  I played them again and somehow I got 4000 and 1900 points for them.  It's really weird.

EDIT: There's a Berzerker Predator at syfy.com's homepage for those who are interested.  Max point score off him is 4000.

It's most likely a cheap way for Fox to switch all its customers to Blu-Ray.
