https://www.instagram.com/release_the_emissary_cut/?hl=en I created this Instagram account dedicated to the release of the Emissary Predator cut. Give it a follow right now!
What's weird is that the scenes are filmed (probably rough though) and yet it wasn't included on the home release despite BTS footage including them. It's really kind of odd that the footage is out there especially seeing as while the script was questionable, the actual production work (though BTS content) actually looked fairly promising.
Though if ever released I'm going to be real mad if the test-audience screwed us out of a better movie.

I wonder if that same test-audience had seen the final movie... would they have thought the new third act was better? I can imagine some stuff with the Emissaries was stupid but as much as the suit at the end? Hard to believe.

I'm no fly on the wall, but I'm pretty sure it went like this...
Fox Exec 1: HMMMM. The test group didn't like preds in military uniforms. How do we appeal to more people?
Fox Exec 2: Wait. Aren't superhero movies trending?
Fox Exec 1: Yeah! Also, didn't Shane Black direct one of those I think?!
Fox Exec 3:
PERFECT!Iron Pred 4 ending.
I honestly can't see the studio investing anymore time or money into the film, nor would Shane.
I think all parties want to leave it behind as quickly and quietly as possible.

The reason I even bought a Blu-Ray was in the hope to see some alternative scenes that were cut, but I was more disappointed with that than the actual film. I feel this is the most awkward thing because they used footage in all these trailers from a version that was never actually shown. I'm sure movies have those moments like Hulk running in the Wakanda battle for Infinity War, it seems movie studios are doing this more often with scenes in trailers not being in the final film. In this situation every piece of promotional material used those clips, so you would've thought to have at least included them in the blu-ray but no that didn't happen.
For Marvel Studios it's careful calculation and omission,
it's just carelessness and a last ditch reshoot for The Predator.
Half a year and it has 100 followers already.
Sarcasm? 100 is nothing, it's dead for all practical intents and purposes.

Yes that was sarcasm. Not expecting this any time soon.
Indeed.
Might see this happening in something like 10 years after Black makes a comeback with some solid hits and the Predator franchise is revitalized with a new (good) movie. They tried 4 times with the shitty Terminator sequels, maybe they will try 4 times here.
I expect perhaps an interview and nothing more.

I don't expect anything at all. I imagine Shane has totally been soured by it, and will want to leave it behind for good.
Shane might feel about The Predator the same way Fincher feels about Alien 3.
Hoping with all the streaming platforms now and the #ReleaseTheSndyerCut -- it can set a precedent for directors to have the ability to release their version of a film if a studio had more control than they should have had in the first place.
Not every film needs/deserves a director's cut but there are plenty of films where media reported that reshoots were done after the studio wasn't happy with the vision the director filmed. Even though this was the director the studio hired based on their pitch.
Well, now that those couple of dozen "Release the Synder Cut" protesters are finally out of work, maybe they could take on an even bigger challenge instead?!
An Emissary cut would be fine. I don't think they'd finish the FX but it would be kind of cool to see what they'd been going for.
Honestly I'm kind surprised they didn't just dump the scenes somewhere online or even just use the Emissary in something. They had the suits so outside of the cut I'm actually kind of surprised they had them commissioned and got nothing out of them. If they used them at all it'd be a cool way to shoot some sort of tie-in for Hunting Grounds.
Fox seemed to just want to remove all reference to them. There's nothing about them in any of the behind-the-scenes stuff they put out. Nothing.
Although the story behind the disaster would be fascinating to unravel, I can't blame Fox for wanting to sweep it all under the rug and just pretend it never happened.
Never forget....
They shot the Pred-dog in the head...
...and it became a Predator Puppy Pet.

They should use them in something. A short for a tie-in to Hunting Grounds or maybe redressing them for something new. Outside the cut it's just a waste they got all those people to create and portray these guys and nothing ended up coming of it aside from the two toys. I really hate to see these guys work just sit there.
I don't think it'd make the movie that much better, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the footage of them in costume. I remember the instagram post of them moving around out of make up but in character and loving the way the moved as Preds.
It's amazing they didn't topple over with that giant head weight!

Going by the script, the Emissary cut wouldn't be any better.
The Predator is best left buried and forgotten. No more.

I'm not sure. Ask Voodoo

Of course! I coined the term!
But yes... no "x" mandibles, straightened brows, broken jaws, they meet and exceed the requirement to be deemed a Crustacean Predator!
Also I can't take these big heads! I lined up both eye pupils on the Stan Winston design and ADI design, then halved it.

I miss the days when we had Predator makers that understood proportion!

I think your shots are too close Voodoo because while the Emissary head certainly is bigger, it's not that much bigger according to similarly distanced shots. Both shots are at two different distances so naturally it isn't going to line up as well. Though the heads appear slightly bigger than both 1 and 2 designs. Interestingly it seems like they should be able to close the jaws. The Emissary in the back has his mouth shut meaning that for whatever reason we only ever saw the mouth open on BTS shots but they can do it.

These far away shots are not a wise choice to use for this scrutiny, but to zoom in on the Emissary I actually referenced in this thread and you'll see the Emissary is clearly larger.

But if you look Fugitive ginormous head with mouth folds, you can't even see his neck.

But good old Stan.... a neck and proportion!

Now the other Emissary, I'm not certain that Crabator was designed to vastly open it's mouth.

This is not trick photography making these no-neck heads look big. They're just big.

You seem to know a lot about crabators.
My childhood visits to Red Lobster has paid dividends.
Imagine how ugly Dutch would've thought a crabator was. The jungle hunter was downright handsome by comparison.
"You're one ugly mother of all ugly mother f*ckers."

:D
lol, never.
Uh, crabators. Love 'em
Seriously though, yes, when you place them right next to Stan Winston ones then, yeah, their heads look way bigger. But in the movie itself the size of Fugitive's head never really seemed bigger than it should be to me. You know, this movie has a lot of other problems to worry about.
Idk, maybe my taste just got spoiled right from the start by first AvP movie because it was the one that introduced me to both franchises and I have rather fond childhood memories about it. I used to watch the movie with my dad and it was so cool! Scar was the first Predator I ever seen and he looked so badass and heroic and all, especially when I was 4 years old!
I just can't #SayNoToCrabators
Mmmm I dunno. The only time I liked a Bighead Predator was ...

You know...kind of related but not really related...I'd imagine we'd stand a bigger chance of seeing the emissaries as a special reinforcement in Hunting Grounds than their cut of the film
Indeed
Okay now that would be interesting

The game does make a big deal about wanting to capture one alive. I think the script they're in also had them on base with their own little Hunting Ground to keep them occupied. That'd actually be a cool twist for a Stargazer base map if all of sudden another Predator shows up. The Fireteam would still have to gun it down and the Predator could possibly claim it if their deemed as traitors or something like that.
I think the game also uses (or is at least a variation of) the Emissary rifle.
-No cloaking
-Only has the rifle
-Maybe (due to wearing Human made gear) is about as strong as the Scout
Maybe that would work for Hunting Grounds.
Is there an emissary cut of the script floating around somewhere? Or any other details on the alternate endings?
Given the movie we got the Emissary cut would just match the leaked script that was circulated.
The Emissarys are introduced in one scene...
... and then immediately killed.
Only thing we wouldn't get would be the predator spiders because they seemed to have never even made it into the shooting draft.
Like the extra two Predators they dropped from AvP. For years people wanted to know about them but turns out they just died in a heartbeat a scene after Scar gets facehugged. Better left out.
It's always fascinating how movies, especially those within the Predator franchise, can have hidden stories and characters that pique the interest of fans. The mystery surrounding the two Predators dropped from AvP surely left fans curious for years.
Unless people read the novel, in which case they knew the two extra Predators did nothing but die a few minutes after the previous two.
it would be nice to judge Black's movie as Black's movie and not as what the studio put out. so long as the request is kept positive, I don't see any reason not to support the idea.
I have no hopes for this cut, nor if ever released, it would be any better.
However, I'm really intrigued by this cut's connections to The Predator: Hunters And Hunted book, which was really good.
It would be great to see Edward James Olmos as General Woodhurst.
