I want to talk about World of Darkness

The The World of Darkness is a dark tabletop roleplaying game that encompasses Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mages: The Ascension, Hunter: The Reckoning, Changelings: The Dreaming, Wraith: The Oblivion, Mummy: The Resurrection, Kuei-Jin: Kindred of the East, Demons: The Fallen, and Orpheus

The World of Darkness is one of my favorite settings, I'm not sure if we have a place for Non-ALIEN RPG Tabletop RPGs but I really want to discuss this setting.

For those who are unfamiliar with the World of Dark or Vampire: the Masquerade. There are thirteen distinct vampire Clans each with its own unique set of powers and curse. Now before I cover the clan weaknesses, I want to list general vampire weaknesses.

Sunlight
Fire
Requiring Blood for substance.
Weakness to True Faith
Frenzy is extremely dangerous for a Vampire since it can jeopardize their humanity and edge them closer to the Beast and once a vampire allows the beast to take completely over a vampire can become a Wight (Feral Vampire).

Okay let's start with Clan Brujah, their whole thing is being a rebel or at least this is how they are perceived by the other clans. Technically the Brujah are split between being rebellious thugs and passionate warrior-poets. Nonetheless their clan weakness is Violence. They can be trigger very easily and when they do it always in a frenzy.

Clan Gangrel are kind of like werewolf-wannabies vampires. They have control over animals and they can shapeshift into an animal or become werebeast-like. Their clan curse is after they frenzy a part of their animal aspect manifests on their bodies.

Clan Malkavian are the crazy vampires that can see the future!  They all suffer from some kind of mental illness, most of them were  mentally ill or autistic people in life but if a non-autistic person gets turned by one of these vampires, they'll gain a mental illness.

Clan Nosferatu, their curse is being hideously ugly but they are some of the chilliest vampires in the setting.

Clan Toreador, their curse is being obsessive with Art and pretty things. They have a reputation of being the hottest vampires in the setting but thats because they typically embrace Hot people, not that if you get turned you'll be hot.

Clan Tremere, they are blood mages, their clan weakness was originally being almost blood bonded with their sires but V5 changed this to having weak blood due to Tremere vampires were originally a cabal of mages that stole vampirism from a (near) extinct clan

Clan Ventrue, they are basically vampire politicians, their curse is having a refine taste in rare blood. They are also stoic, the refined taste in blood for an example: like needing to only drink from blonde people or smart people, and have served the vampire government, the Camarilla, as its leaders for centuries.

Clan Tzimisce, they are essentially a plastic surgeon's wet dream mixed with their worst nightmare. Their clan curse is that they need to be buried with their homeland's dirt. They can make monsters out of their ghouls and can shapeshift into down right monstruous forms.

Clan Giovanni (as of V5 they are now part of Clan Hecata), they are essentially Italian Mafia Vampires they only embrace people that want to join their family. Their clan curse is having painful bites.

Clan Ravnos, they are vampire thieves. Originally their clan curse was they had to have a compulsive crime, then it was changed to having a compulsion to they are just doom magnetics.

Clan Followers of Set (V5 now known as Ministry), they are religious vampires dedicate to the church of set. Their weakness was having double weakness to sunlight. Now its weak to any kind of light.

Clan Lasombra are ruthless aristocratic vampires, their clan curse is they have no reflection.

Clan Assamites (V5 now known as the Banu Haqim) are basically assassin Vampires. Their clan curse used to be that they grew darker with age before V5 replaced it to where they have to feed on someone who deserves punishment.

I really dig the mythology of the setting and even made me like the Christian mythology side of things.
I wish they would revisit the World of Darkness in a live-action movie or TV series or even an animated TV series

I think I know what Vampire clan I would fall under... I think I would fall under clan Gangrel or clan Malkavian. I don't think I'm quite artistically qualified to be a mainstream Toreador unless i'm an antitribu.

I'm not too familiar with Bloodrayne, I have it in my GOG library but I haven't played it yet.
Also I saw the live-action movie to Bloodrayne but I'm not sure how faithful it is to the video game

I'll mention the origin story to Caine the first vampire here so i won't clog up the Let's Chat

Long story short: he murders his brother out of a jealous & love,

God banished him to the lands of nod,
there Caine meets Lilith the first woman and mage,

Caine begs Lilith if he could learn mage so she teaches Caine on how to awaken his magical power but Caine has a vision of four angels,

the first three angels give him the following curses: weakness to fire, sunlight, and the need to drink blood and eat ash.

The fourth angel gave Caine a way out called Golconda.

Caine refuses Golconda. Caine awakens as the first vampire.

Ghouls!

Ghouls in the World of Darkness are not zombies or even undead. They are simply humans who drink vampire blood without under going the Embrace or Kiss (the processes of being turned into a vampire).

Most ghouls can function like a normal human being unless deprived of precious vitae (vampire blood). Should that happen the ghoul would behave like an addict until they are given more vitae or go cold turkey.

Vitae can heal a ghouls wounds, cure them of any drug addictions they had previously, allowed to use vampire disciplines (if taught by their vampire master), and potentially give them eternal life but with a price (they would need to drink vitae for the rest of their life if allowed by their vampire master).

The ghoul condition is hereditary meaning their children would be ghouls, these ghouls are called Revenants. Vampires who keep revenants around would selectively breed these ghouls like dogs.

I still haven't read enough to know. It seems like most of them would be fun to play as but miserable to exist as, which is probably the point of things.
