The Nu-Newborn was more interesting for mine.

That's where all the love and care went.

Design wise is the Alien really that different to the first one?  It lacks ridges and arm blades like Aliens, it has back tubes unlike Alien 3, it doesn't have the flat back of the head like Resurrection.

Obviously it's not exactly the same, but the prominent features from the OG seem to be present.

The Romulus design is a more monstrous version of Big Chap.

Yes. Significantly smaller tubes, digitigrade legs, the worst mouth tendons (well, in the movies...), an articulated front of head, significantly thinner and longer, etc

Didn't they end up not using the articulation in the front of the head.

Jeunet said in a french interview that he loved the idea, it cracked him up and he pushed for it

Just wanna say, despite this not being the threat for it, how beautiful the WWD Liopleurodon design it is. Yes, oversized, but very beautiful design

Like what Rambaldi did with the original that they never used? That never looked right.

For me the tendons and smaller tubes are not good, but I love the rest.

Really the only alien design I was not a huge fan of is the Alien Resurrection/AVP 04 xenomorphs.

Never been a fan of the aliens in Aliens. I even prefer Scorched over them.

I rank them above the Resurrection aliens but after everything else.
