The Production List.
There's some money notations around the productions and the one next to Predator states "Over $20M". I believe that's budget?
Can't wait til we get the first pictures from the set.
Alien 5 and predator 4
Until I get more serious and concrete news about potential plot beats I'm gonna remain on my see-saw of opti-pessimism here lol
So happy theres a new predator on the way though....please be good please be good.
Where AVP-R was filmed? WTF?
I guess the whole movie will be filmed there or just parts of it? but the date says different.
So this time he's hunting for some Canadian Bacon.
Maybe they can have the predator have it's head caved in with a hockey stick
So where is this story supposed to be taking place that they are shooting there?
Are they going to be shooting in build sets? Cause Canada doesnt sound like it will have many hot places.
Taking advantage of the weaker canadian dollar! Wish I had family in BC, I would go live there and try to be an extra.
Hey! I currently am living there!
If you get any specific location I could try and see if I could find you guys (AvPGalaxy) a worthy scoop for the frontpage.
so a modern day setting with special forces in Afghanistan looks unlikely right now, the desert the war, heat and conflict etc.
Didn't they say there's going to be a lot of different locations? Vancouver is probably jut one of the locations they're filming at.

I have visions of AVP-R and cheap Canadian TV actors dancing in my head. :(

3 months. And that still doesn't rule out other locations.

Canada has forests at least,
So they wrap before Christmas, what is the center of th Shane Black movies. 8)
He said the film takes place in a different locations so i really hope to see a South American jungle, A desert and an LA setting as Black's movies always there. But Vancouver is not fitting. No heat, no conflicts around there..maybe the trapped Predo will be taken there, or they just film the lab scenes there.10 years after AvpR maybe Adam Baldwin will be there and he was right to say no to the Strause bros.
I still hope they move the relase date to 2017 but how could The Predator be a " summer event movie" what Black wants if they planning to relase in feb,2018?
Since playing around with a Predator mod for Arma 2 I always wanted to see a Predator film set in the desert.
It could be set in Afghanistan. Mountain, desert, heat and conflict. A desert hunter, it just seems like a nice new setting we have not seen. We have seen the jungle and seen the city now let us try a desert environment.
Lets say 8 man spec ops force sent in probably under misleading orders from some dark agency that possibly knows about the predator.
The locals could be talking about the Predator and refering to the 'Jinn' which are islamic mythological creatures like devils demons.
Instead of ripping off P1 too much like Predators, you don't have another dude wielding a mini gun you have a mini gun scene with maybe a blackhawk heli or humvee vehicle mounted weapon for a mini gun scene. You could have a Predator plasma casting Apache gunships out the sky. Predator drones getting taken down by the desert hunter Predator. The squad takes on rebels before encountering the Predator. Maybe even joining together with locals to fight the Predator.
Ofcourse half way through you got some guy from the dark agency realises the reports were true and they refer back to P1 arnie and P2 Danny Glover stories. Maybe he joins the main team on the ground.
Have not fleshed my story out just I thought the setting could work. Afghan conflict is horrible and should never have happened, would have made a good Predator movie setting. Just had to get that off my chest.

I forgot to add, yes my thoughts were get Vin Diesel and Dwayne Jonson the rock onboard. What is the most dangerous threat to a Predator? A bunch of disorganised misfits that dont know each other with ridiculous random weapons or an elite special forces team trained and geared for battle?

I didn't say Vancouver is good.It is crappy and cheap.
Movie makers seem to use Vancouver a lot. XD
Imagine being a Extra in a Predator film?? :o :o
While we don't know if Schwarzenegger will be part of The Predator or not, we do know the former governor of California and new host of The Apprentice will be in Vancouver next month to film Why We're Killing Gunther, a feature comedy written and directed by Saturday Night Live cast member Taran Killam.

Vancouver has appeared in hundreds of movies and TV shows and half the time you'd never notice. They're filming there because it's cheap and can pass for just about anywhere.
Vancouver has always been a hot spot for many shows and films to be filmed there. One of its many nicknames is the Canadian Hollywood. The best seasons of X Files were filmed in Vancouver.
Canada must have to do with the Script and story alot because Fox wouldn't go there to film because its cheap. They already confirmed a big budget Predator film. This might be our first Predator film in the 100$ million dollar range. Also might be our first Predator film to cross the 2 hr mark. The standard for all of them have been 1 hr and 47 min. Both new things to our new Predator film are so cool.
Fox absolutely would go there because it's cheap, even if the budget is huge. Money saved is money saved.
Sinse we know the location, I wonder if it will be the city of Canada or the forrests or maybe a combination of both
Vancouver has been used in no end of productions to represent no end of cities. It could literally be set anywhere in a city.

You can always tell when a movie was filmed in Vancouver. They all have the same Vancouverish trees and forests.
I seen every film featuring the Preds starting in 2004. Avp Avpr Predators and The Predator will come next but ofcourse I can wait for it lol. Had I been born in the 80's I most deffinatley would have seen Predator and Predator 2 in the theater. But I have started this streak in 2004 and it won't break anytime soon featuring this iconic and one of my most favorite characters ever. Predator and Terminator are my 2 favorites forever. 2 of the most Badass characters ever featured in movie history.
All of these I seen in the Theater.

I,Robot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Man of Steel, X-Men: The Last Stand, First Blood... just to name a couple of these "flops" ::)
Vancouver will be fine and can pass for pretty much anywhere, but maybe they are going for a small town feeling? We'll see, but i'm not worried about this.
Vancouver had it`s fair share of flops, but how the hell it is relevant? It`s all about script, direction and performance. Vancover is good enough.
Of course it matters. You know folks like to...

It's july and still no cast announcement? That's normal for a film that starts shooting in september?
It isn't. It usually happens months in advance.
We didn't get news of Covenant's castings until 2/3 months before filming start. Assuming everything is still on track for filming in September (and hasn't been pushed back until October), we'll probably start seeing some casting news this month and next.

Spider-Man Homecoming just started filming a week ago, and they're still announcing cast.
Fingers crossed they get an amazing, Marvel-tier ensemble. No reason why Shane Black couldn't. No has-beens like Adrien Brody or second fiddles like Danny Glover.
You realise both of them are top tire A list actors? Why I even bother...
Uh no.
Brody was the youngest actor to win an Oscar for Best Actor. Glover was well known for working on a series that Shane Black kicked off. I really wouldn't have called them poor choices. Personally I loved both of them.
They were nowhere near poor choices. But at the time of their respective Predator movies, they weren't A-list actors though. Brody was once upon a time, but only briefly and that was for a couple of years after his Oscar win. He's been struggling ever since and he needed Predators more than it needed him. And all Glover had was two Lethal Weapons(second fiddle to Mad Max), and supporting roles in Witness and The Color Purple. Great movies, great roles, but... He hadn't proven himself as someone that could open a movie. And Predator 2's box office didn't help his cause. Now if Fox had chosen Bruce Willis or Mel Gibson for the role, then that would've been an A-list choice. But we know they wanted to keep costs down, because they were also contemplating using Seagal.
An A-list choice would be someone like, well, Affleck or Cooper. An actor who doesn't need the movie but stars in the movie. Both of these men have shown they have the capacity to open a movie, provided the movie is good. The Town, Argo, American Sniper, etc.
Let's even look at the first Predator. Arnold didn't need Predator, he already had Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator. He was a Golden Globe winner. But yes, Glover and Brody are fine actors. There's no denying that. But they're character actors, not leading men. So it's not a question of being a great actor, but being an A-lister.
The Predator might be filming elsewhere too, such as Brazil or Australia.
If it's going to be set all over (Black said something to this effect, I believe), I'd expect to see it film in quite a few places. Judging from the length of the shoot though, Vancouver might be where the bulk of it is shot though.

Didn't he also say it was going to be set on Earth too?
IIRC yeah. No off-world locations.
Which is great. Means no gimmicks, and that it'll be all about the story and characters. Wouldn't mind a quick scene on their planet though.
New Vancouver filming dates

Shane, please keep hounding Affleck. Do it! Do it Affleck! You know you want to work with Shane.
I can't help but feel the rewrites and the push back are due to someone's availability. I remember Shane talking about it before but I can't find the source.
Maybe Ben needed some rest after JL? I'm so optimistic for him lol.

So far only 50 Cent have been confirmed as one of actors for this movie?
The original shooting was supposed to be from September to December. Now it's October to February. That means there's an additional month of shooting now. I guess that's good news. More time to get it right.
Well as a secret codename Ollie doesnt work anymore. I would have called it "HeadShot, Bitch".

Let them take all the time they want to get this right.
Start filming on my birthday. What a wonderful present.
I guess maybe they waiting for Ryan Gosling to finish shooting Blade Runner sequel. :)
I wouldn't be surprised to see Gosling in this. He's not a massive name but I think he's a damn good actor. It'd be fine by me.
He's pretty big, and he'll only be bigger after Blade Runner 2.
Unless it bombs, here's hoping it doesn't though
