Wow... I was literally just watching The Fifth Element and wondering how old he is now. f**k.

Incredibly sad news.

I solicited him to contribute to my AvP Let's Play years ago and while he could have told me to go f**k myself, he was exceedingly polite in declining. Class act all around.

Rest in Peace, Sir.

I've loved him in everything I've seen him in. Brilliant actor, and he seems to have left a great impression on everyone who met him.

It's regrettable that he and Yaphet Kotto didn't participate in the 2003 documentary: The Beast Within: The Making of ALIEN.

Per CdL, Ian politely declined (through his agent). Kotto wanted very much to be involved, but the schedules just never worked out.

Sad to see another great go. In Kenneth Branagh's autobiography, he talked about how all the English stage actors would joke about the Ian Holm: 'Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Less Of' School of Acting.  :D Funny, but also true.

Clear skies, Ian.

From memory he was going through a messy divorce at the time of Alien and doesn't seem to particularly enjoy recalling that period all that much. I don't think it even gets much of a mention in his biography.

All the more regrettable in Kotto's case.

I believe he also suffered a nervous breakdown in 1980?
