Mike’s Monsters

Just pointing out that Aliens: Colonial Marines was considered official canon and lore upon it's release, until it wasn't anymore. I personally only stick to what the films show and tell us as canon.

I imagine the Predator franchise has the same approach as the Alien franchise - none of what they call canon is going to matter if a film comes and the filmmakers want to do something else.

Yes, my logic exactly.

Exactly that's why I just follow, Atleast when it comes to Predator, the original films because those I know will never be circumvented, disregarded or overlooked.

One day people will maybe understand that movies can shit on everything else if people making them want to. No matter how you love one game or one comic, that's not relevant.

We have gone off topic here and we should get back to the threads original discussion. This will be my last response regarding our side conversation.

Yes, that's right, my head canon. If you want to consider Incredible Hulk-Upgrade Predators, Super Predators (because the original predators weren't enough), Predator Ironman suits, Predator-dogs with dreds and massive teenage Predators - to name just some of the ridiculousness over the years while taking that all literally as canon because those are "proven details of a story", which films purposefully were clearly overlooked by the next filmmaker - partly because of how bad those films are, then my friend that is your choice.

Imo the Predator franchise has been treated with such disrespect and disregard by studios for many reasons over the years with a couple being, due to poor oversight and the clearly obvious cash grabs in lieu of putting a true Predator film on screen. Therefore the results are movies so extraordinarily bad and so poorly received by audiences that they have devalued any true canon and for years hurt the Predator brand.

For me the original two films are what I consider the true canon as they established Predator lore, structure and the Predator itself. I also consider Prey apart of that, which successfully connected P2 and because Dan created a coherent Predator film. - And that is even with the fact that I am personally not a fan of Feral's design.

Absolutely agree with you and unfortunately for years, imo that's been the case with the Predator franchise. (Until now, I hope.)

RoguePred1987

The films take precedent and are THE canon. EU material; books, comics, video games, are soft canon if at all.

I mean to be fair, unlike PHG, ACM was universally hated as a game and story for the Aliens universe. Also, films aren't above from dislodging from what other films have been established before. If they say its canon, it is until it isn't, that's what I go by, even if I strongly dislike it like the Ridley prequels.

Hell, there are movies that will just contradict moves that happened before too. It shouldn't be new to anyone for sure.
