The SW Prequels I love because I grew up on them. I feel TPM was epic, AOTC recaptured some of that SW retro futurism, and ROTS despite having too many duels did give us the dark lord.

Paul W.S Anderson I find incapable of making good art or entertainment.
In fairness, he's got a good eye for visuals right across the board. I've always said he should be behind the camera but not running the show. AvP is like a gallery of cool shots and it's generally how I remember the film. i.e. looks awesome but ultimately shallow.

Can someone explain the general disdain for the AVP films? I personally really liked the first one and honestly felt it was just slightly below Predator 2.

Probably just high expectations. I was disappointed by Godzilla vs Kong, and then I realized versus movies are never going to be the best, they can't be, combining franchises is frought With pitfalls, you are going to offend one fan base or the other.

😂 Honestly you're so right, that's a perfect synopsis of Andersons stuff. But I do really think AVP is a bit of an outlier, I really liked it but yes I don't think by any metric it was "Good" art or entertainment and Mortal Kombat is kinda a classic but even that wasn't anything super special.
