I had the pleasure of interviewing Yaphet for hours on the phone last year. He had bitten his tongue but was in great spirits. Very feisty, opinionated, and he really went into detail on how he crafted Parker (with a literary reference or two!) I was hoping to talk to him again and follow-up, but alas....

RIP, Yaphet.
The tongue thing caught me eye. He always spoke like his tongue was too big for his mouth. Looking forward to seeing the gleanings from that interview...

I never had the pleasure of meeting him, though it certainly sounded like he was an interesting person. It's always sad to see a member of the family leave us and this was no different.  :'(

I had no idea he passed. He was great as Parker (bonus situation) and on Homocide LIfe on the Streets.

R.I.P. sir.

Great username, thanks for the giggle in these trying times.  :)

Maybe off topic but in one scene where parker and brett is repairing the ship and have ripley there and Parker have the steam running as they talk and it ends with ripley going to the bridge and then Parker turns off the steam and becomes silent, being disapointed/upset and brett asking whats wrong? Then Parker turns on the steam again. What was that about? Seen some say it was him hitting on ripley and she turned it down but I dont see that but then again what was that scene about? :P

He's not convinced the company isn't gonna find a way to screw him and Brett out of their shares.

Man, the cast of Alien have basically been my family since 1979. This hurts. :'(

Sigourney Weaver Pays Tribute to 'Alien' Co-Star Yaphet Kotto

Quote"Every day Yaphet Kotto blew me away on the set of 'Alien,'" Weaver wrote. "He just went for it in every scene, making the stakes higher and higher and giving each scene a terrifying reality. It was a nonstop master class for me and I will always be grateful to him. Rest In Peace Parker...Over and out, Ripley."

Didnt ridley made him to be an ass to Sigourney at times to make the acting more real or something like that?
Also loved how he argued with ridley to change his parts and trying to make his charachter to survive or die differently and coming with ideas all the time :P
