I've been doing it for years, but not because anyone told me to.  I just got tired of wiping my floor of piss droplets that splash out of the toilet whenever I do it standing up.

As a bonus, I seem to wring more urine out of Old One Eye in the seated position so I have less shaking to do when I'm finished.

I also have a Squatty Potty to elevate my feet when taking a dump, which simulates squatting instead of just sitting.  It makes pooping easier.
