Post by: ikarop on May 09, 2012, 02:39:25 PM

Prometheus is the cover story of the latest issue of Entertaining Weekly. In the new promotional image you can see Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace as their respective characters. This post will be updated as soon as the scans become available.

Update: Scans of the article have been added. A special thanks to magnolia20 for the images.

Nice read.

...Mm-mm... Photoshop.

I hate when they do that to already attractive actors and actresses. They look so clean and ... FAKE.

*insert Romulan "It's a fake" meme here*

Going by the creepy-smooth airbrushing, it looks like David isn't the only android in the cast. :P

Charlize isn't afraid to get dirty either when a role or specific scenes call for it - Monster, North Country, Head in the Clouds off the top of my head.  Pretty brutal scenes in all of those.

It's actually blowing my mind that all this stuff is from a movie. For like, 20 years now, this stuff has only lived on in drawn art and video gaming...

I'd put that in the sexy category... sexy lighting.  ;)

It is quite visually satisfying way to do practical (in the film sense, haha) lighting, gives a very unique look. Apparently there are actually screens in there, too, so it'll be cool to see how those work into it.

There's one bit of wording in the article that I don't understand. When they're taking about the trailers released they used the term 'head fakes' what does that mean?

Dear Charlize,

I too have a helmet, but it has NEVER looked as shiny as yours.
Care to come around my gaff so I can witness, first-hand, a craftswoman at work on the lost art of helmet-polishing?

Thanks in advance!

Glaive

Charlize isn't afraid to get dirty either when a role or specific scenes call for it - Monster, North Country, Head in the Clouds off the top of my head.  Pretty brutal scenes in all of those.

Oh no, no you're right I wasn't saying she wasn't... But Noomi has prettier hair.

Again.....what does the term 'head fakes' mean?

From Wikipedia:

"Head Fake is a sports term used when a player moves their head to fake a change in direction.

In market trading a head fake is where the market appears to be moving in one direction but ends up moving in the opposite direction. For example, the price of a stock may appear to move up, and all indications prior to that are that it will move up, but shortly after reverses direction and starts moving down.

Head fakes are often caused by market makers who place bids and asks in such a way that they cause the apparent (fake) trend in order to later profit from it."

Or the alternate definition, from ever-classy Urban Dictionary...
Spoiler
"when person A proceeds to give what person B thinks is a b***job, then simply holds the head of the p***s in her/his mouth and proceeds to j**k person A off without actually doing anything with their mouth but holding the p***s in it.

'I was so happy that chick was finally gonna s**k my d**k then the bitch pulled a head fake on me.'"

Generally I tire of Lindelof and the Abrams gang very, very fast, or have in the past, but I don't see anything wrong with what he's saying he did. From what we have here I think they were on the right track with the rewrite.  We really didn't need more of the same schtick from the franchise presented in the same way.  So, good on them.  I've seen a lot of those Abrams guys do better work when the work is either a) self-contained, like a film or a comic or b) carefully constructed, as this appears to be, as opposed to letting all the crap ooze out in viral marketing.  While there has been ancillary viral work here, it has not been where the bulk of the concept has ended up, as happened in crap like Drew Goddard's Cloverfield.  So thus far I'm happy.

Interesting that these three are paired together?

Scheduling famous actors for publicity is difficult. They were probably the only ones who happened to be able to set that day aside. :)

Not even past the first page and he'd already referred to himself as a fanboy for the umpteenth time in the last few months ::)
Sorry to say this, but the same can be said about you. Every time his name get's mentioned, in with the snarky comments. You are like a broken record on this guy, along with  2 other members on this forum. Everybody gets it- he is a dork, a fanboy, a douche, he wears hats in the summer trying to look cool, you think his show was shit and he's a pretentious asshole.

The same with LGM . i agree to you on that, but the constant repetition about his bad acting every day, on every article or mention of his name is tiring.

Opinions are opinions and are to be respected, but what is the point in repeating them every day for months and months?

For people who can't see the pictures, here's a little trick.  Quote somebody when posting a reply and look at the urls between the img tags.  You're welcome. ;)
Nope, it doesn't work.
Thanks anyway ;)

Strange, it worked for me.  I didn't see the pictures so I copied and pasted the urls inbetween the image tags and they showed up just fine. *shrug*

Lindelof is fully aware of how he is perceived. He's a smart guy. He has more hits to his name then misses. I'm also sick to death of the 'I hate Lindelof' train that keeps its momentum. I think he's a worthy writer and hopefully his contribution makes the film stronger.

IMHO, to certain extent, when somebody hates your work, it means you're doing it good.

I apologize if this has been touched upon already, reading the new Entertainment Weekly issue there is the one picture with David walking on the surface of the planet with the group, all who are wearing helmets including David. David being an android why would he need a helmet? Is he a hidden android like Ash or am i completly missing something?

I don't think anyone hates Lindelof's work...and to use his words......"I get the disappointment." There's a sense of collective disappointment when it came to the series finally of LOST. It was never going to live up to anyone's expectations, especially as the imagination came up with a dozen scenarios for what was actually going on. Again, Lindelof concedes this and talks about disappointment is also a very real when it comes to Prometheus, and he goes on to further realize that if the film fails, everyone will blame the writer.

That all being said..what the fukc more do people want from him? I say we root for him until we have cause not to.
