They'll wheel out a guy in a suit sooner than cut some footage.

In the beginning I wasn't too excited for this, mostly because the whole premise of the story but now... F*ck it, I have been an Alien fan my whole life. I'm full exited and waiting for this

It's weird that like 99.99% of anyone that watches TV will barely have a clue this show even exists.

I think this is pretty cool, but only if you've got some kind of momentum behind the campaign.

I remember when Shogun, another FX property, was being promoted. The hype behind that was palpable. For this? I did some rough estimates and If you look at the officially released video viewer counts on YouTube, including those released through IGN and not just FX, interest (and this is a rough metric) sits somewhere north of 10 million views. For comparison, the teaser for Badlands, again, released through official sources online, are also north of 10 million views. This isn't to say discussions aren't being had on reddit, X, and other fandoms. I think it's easy to be myopic given that we tend to be more hardcore fans here. That being said, the lack of trailer makes me hesitant to throw my weight behind it (especially after the stellar Romulus). What I have seen doesn't quite feel like 'Alien', but we have very little to go on. I think that the earth setting is risky from a thematic and also practical perspective. But, if you don't take risks... you risk stagnation. I guess we will just have to continue to wait.

I think the Earth setting is simply bums on seats - how do we get a lot of people to watch this show? Let's put the Alien on Earth.

Fandom isn't enough , they are trying to pull more numbers in.

Id be surprised if it works , the show will have to have high quality, like Andor.

the Earth setting and timeline choice is probably because at the time this went into production they didn't want to interfere with the chances of Weaver returning to Ripley. (no post Alien3 stories as of yet).
