Quote from: Oasis Nadrama on Nov 10, 2024, 11:13:01 AMIt still surprises me how many franchises, to this day, have trouble with the idea of multiple, parallel canons. It works pretty well for Marvel and DC since decades.
Don't forget Godzilla, Halloween and Robocop.
I think having multiple canons would be a good thing.
Great thing, really.
Quote from: SM on Nov 10, 2024, 12:26:12 PMBecause anything goes in Marvel and DC like time travel and other dimensions or universes. Ditto Star Trek.
We're decades in to Alien and those things haven't ever been established.
Except that now, Alien-Predator is now in the hands of Marvel and both are owned by the same parent company. So these crossovers aren't just your typical inter-company publication that can be handwaved as they're in-house now.
And the idea of an Alien-Predator multiverse doesn't really have to be explicitly stated or narratively shown. There's plenty of franchises that do this, the earlier ones I mentioned do that and they don't deal with dimension hopping or time travel.
Would it be bad if we wound up with multiple canons?
