Yeah boi.

Time for a new argument then, eaten or accelerated decay? obviously a few of the fresher corpses are VERY recent if any of them look like this after two and a half weeks max, so how'd these ones get so funky?

Perhaps an Alien Hive is a multicellular organism, like Slime mold...

QuoteSlime mold or slime mould is an informal name given to several kinds of unrelated eukaryotic organisms that can live freely as single cells, but can aggregate together to form multicellular reproductive structures.

Or like Zerg creep

So the thing needs nutrients to grow and expand.

Always liked the fungal/mold hive concept but that pesky "secreted resin" line makes it a bit of a challenge to sell, especially with how fast Newt gets gunked up.

Still Collating...

Maybe it's a combination of both?

Immortan Jonesy

Yeah. Also, there may be a symbiosis of some sort. Something like:

1. An Alien secretes the resin.

2. In such resin inhabit microorganisms that can accelerate the growth of the hive.

3. Both, the Alien and the multi-cellular organism, need victims wrapped in cocoons (the first one to use them as hosts and the second one to use them as food).

4. More Aliens are born.

5. which makes the swarm grow...and so on.

Still Collating...

Exactly. Seems plausible to me.

Kradan

I like that in Resurrection it was implied that Hive itself literally alive.

Gosh I love the Space Jockey...

Giger did a lot of the sculpting and most of the airbrushing himself. In addition to designing it as well of course.

The first artbook my Father bought me was "Giger's Alien" so, I know the SJ intimately.  ;D

It does explain a lot.
