This should happen! Anyone else agree with me? Remake it from scratch basically upgraded graphics on UE5,
Yeah, sure, why not. It's not like we get a lot new AvP stuff anyway
Remake it in the Source engine.
I'd want a full on remake. Like, a new game, same storyline/concept, but completely new execution. I don't want it to be dated by walking the same 1999 halls and corridors. That form of level design and accompanying game play mechanics are not what a modern interpretation of the game should be stifled with.
No, I would rather have them to remake Jaguar's AvP which they made with Atari hired people.
To bad that game came out on a junky console.

AVP (Jaguar) is a relic of the early FPS "Doom-clone" days. What from that game is unique, and hasn't been improved upon in latter AVP FPS titles?

It seems that you do not have a clue what it really is. It is closer to Resident Evil (1996) than Doom (1993). Its open worldness, survival-horror aspects, atmosphere are not to be found in latter games. Did you play it in 1994/1995?

There's nothing open world about AVP, OR Resident Evil. And AVP is nothing like the original RE, either.

Lol, you have not played it at all. Jaguar's AvP is an open world game, not structured by levels to progress further. And like in RE you have to tactically manage your resources, acquire access cards, find computer terminals, choose routes, etc. as the Marine. The Predator has to earn honor points to unlock better weaponry which it can loose also. And the Alien has to cocoon marines which are its life system. Also it has a seed system for spawning consumables and enemies.

None of that makes it an open world game. Like RE, which is also linear and not an open world game.
Grand Theft Auto is an Open World game. These games are not.
And for the record, I have played it. Decades ago. You just don't know what an Open World game is.
I think he means ''open world'' as in it's less linear than games like AVP classic.

Lol, you do not know what an open world game is. Perhaps you mistake it with a sandbox game. And I am pretty sure you have not played it in 1994/1995. In Jag's AvP you have an access to the whole base and ships. It is not linear. Similar with RE but it is on a smaller scale.

Are you sure? Lol
I'd say it's more Metroid/Castlevania in that you can technically explore the whole station at your whim but access to certain areas is restricted and needs to be opened by finding appropriate keys. However there is no linear structure and it's possible to complete the game without accessing all areas. There's a single overarching goal and as many ways to complete that as you choose within reason.
I'd rather AvP2, but it's in eternal rights-limbo.

I can agree with that assessment. The main point however, is it's not open world. That is a specific description of a specific type of game. There needs to be more than non linear game progression to designate a game as 'open world'.
There isn't a single respectable place or group of people that would lable a mid 90s corridor shooter as an open world game. By nature, a corridor shooter cannot be an open world game, literally because there's nothing open about it to begin with.

I like high speed gameplay of AvP Gold.
AvP2 has a better plot, but hey - it a game - so the gameplay is more important. AvP Gold out of competition.
I've noticed that the speed decreases with every game.
AvP - FTL.
AvP2 - slow.
AvP2010 - slower than a snail.

Lol, it is not a corridor shooter and it fits an open world definition perfectly. The whole base with its airducts and space ships is available for you. The only thing you cannot do is explore outer space. It is the same with GTA games.
The problem you have is a scale of the game. Then compare your GTA games with No Man's Sky which makes them a joke.

Who knows? CDProject/GOG-team work miracles. Perhaps one day they will pull AvP2 out of rights-hell. As far as I know they have already done this with BR and some other games.
p.s But WTF, doesn't all the rights ultimately belong to the ultimate owner of the franchise? Fox, Disney?

You are literally the only person on the planet calling AVP on the Atari Jaguar, and Resident Evil (1996), open world.
You do know that, right?
Yea. You know what. You "win". LMFAO

Closest thing we've got to a remake is the Redux and master effects mods.
Do Rebellion still have the rights?

To compensate for the aging fans of each installment :P
So by the speed of that progression no AVP4 because everyone's dead?

I would like to know this too. I tried AVP Gold Multiplayer back when you could find people (Not sure if that is the case now) But it was fun and frantic lol.
There's groups on Steam that will announce games every now and then. They used to hold tournaments, not sure if they still do or not.
I'm up for a game at some point. Haven't actually played it in ages.
