Wow,  the Predators look bad ass...the celtic predator blades are huge!!! as always I'm impressed by the sculpts, unfortunately the quality of McFarlane toys in materials, design, package and poseability gets worse by the minute...that's what happens when your company becomes a monster and the CEO a greedy bastard.... I'd prefer this guys sculpted and produeced by the Four Horsemen studios....too late....  And congratulations to Darkness this site si the BEST!!!!

The Palisades sculpts look great!!! The queen is amazing, the only bad thing about them is the price! hehe!! Palisades Rocks!!!

Is this suggesting that Lex will become a Predator like the Machiko Naguchi (sp?) chick in the books?   Spawn.Com's press release on the AVP figures:  "The premise of the film -- that debuts Aug. 13 -- is this: Upon discovering a tunnel leading to an ancient, massive underground pyramid, Lex, a female adventurer/environmentalist, leads a team of explorers on a quest 2,000 feet below the Antarctic surface. The pyramid is a 5,000-year-old training ground for Predators, where they earn their "warrior status" by killing the Aliens, using humans as sacrificial bait. It is here, in the maze of chambers and shifting walls, where she partners with a doomed Predator, becoming a "hunter" herself, when her team is caught up in a fierce battle between the Predators and Aliens."

Wow, the blades this suckers use are rediculously huge as are the plsma casters,they look kind of goofy and yet wicked at the same time to me but mabey its because seeing them like that is a new experience for me.I'll just have to let it sink in a bit I guess.What I am pissed about is the fact that the aliens are like I said just the ones from Alien Resurection but black,I hate that design.They should have used the ones from ALIENS.But I cant wait to see those side arm blades disembowel anything that comes close to them and I also cant wait to see the QUEEN in action again.On the SPAWN web site it has a little statment from Anderson saying that the queen in his movie has double the articulation of the Jurassic Park T-Rex and that is such a leap forward from Camerons Queen that it's the most sophisticated animatronic ever to grace the screen.Damn!As for what it says about Lex becoming a hunter herself I think it just means shell be killing some Alien scum to not that shell be turned into a Predator, But you never know.Now back to looking at these pics.P.S to EL DEMONIO I don't think the Mcfarlane toys are that shit,Thay may not be crazy poseable because there not f**king G I JOEs or somthing like that there made to be displayed not played with like a damn ninja turtle.There like posable models/statues so admire them for what they are not for what they are not there junior.     :D  

If the toys are a true 100% representation of their movie counterparts, it looks that all three Predators have the "ceremonial" dagger that we have seen (the prop.)  Just look down near their ankles and you'll see them sheethed.  Another thing people seem to be missing, is that the Elder Predator does infact come with a mask. Just look at his shoulder and you'll see that it is attached there.

I love the Elder Pred statue. It symbolizes honor and extreme coolness. I want it.

In the second featurette the things they show be fore they show the celtic predators mask are the foot wear that the predator's use    (look on the figures feet and you'llsee what i mean.

To Bringer of Death,  I agree and believe me I don't want them for playing, I am a huge action figure collector, and i've been collecting McFarlane's figures over the years but I've really noticed the decrease in quality just to get more licenses, to get a broader market, they don't care anymore about materials and casting, molding and all that shit, I mean, the sculpts are OK but eventhough they are for display they still are action figures, not statues, not busts, but action figures, the Four Horsemen are former McFarlane's sculptors, they actually did the Crow which is one of my favorites, and lately they did Batman an He-man figures wich are the best because eventhough they work great as display and the materials are great, casting and atriculation, even the Palisades Muppets are BETTER action figures than McFarlane's, I mean, the Alien vs Predator boxed set from Movie Maniacs was pretty good, but the whole Alien and Predator series is really crappy, and again I believe the sculpts are OK but as action figures they suck, even as statues, they suck....Palisades or Neca stuff is better, but i'm still happy they're being produced, I just hope they're better quality than the Movie Maniacs series....  by the way I hate GI Joe....it's too lame.... Hehe so there Junior!    :)  

lol i beat you to that news by about 2 or 3 minutes, lol.  They are bery cool figures, love the other stands that come with them!

I think the new Alien figure looks very cool and will look good in the film, i prefer the original Giger one but think this suit looks quite sweet. Anderson obviously likes it because it's based onn his request. The queen looks real badass and looks even mor evil than last time we seen her, you can tell her head has been tweaked with too. I wonder if they will release a Hybird figure?

Still keeping the PredAlien a secret I see.  They better make a figure for that beast too.  Maybe they did.  Just keeping it secret till the movie release.

These avp stuff looks Freakin cool, I also like to see the new queen as a action figure chained till the bone and the figures are very cool, as well as the statues from Palisades. I cant wait to hav them all. And also a Predalien Figure.

I don't know why but every time I come to this website and see these kinds of pictures I just become an even bigger fan of predators.   :)     :)  

the queen bust shows a biomechanical queen!!??? but the aliens look like alien/human crossed from ressurection. little depressed that i'll be seeing alien resurection style aliens in the movie & toy line but hey i just will have to live with it.  I would also like to note the predators are the best design yet!! Hold on a minute... I personally think these Spawn toys are a little wrong... the massive extra blades attacked to the wrist blades... I think not! And the Celtik and scar predator are almost identical apart from having different masks.... and "celtic" predator... that's not in AVP... is it? Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to why these toys aren't quite right. (perhaps i've missed something somewhere... but the scar pred is the only one that I can see that fits into the AVP movie... the celtic and elder are something else I think.) I also think that extra long blade they've put on is just for the toys too. What do you guys think? Cool toys... but a bit wrong.   >:D

In one of the many interviews (can't remeber which, sorry... maybe Jo-Blos) the reporter said he saw a box labelled "hybrid". Now, either he was lying or Fox labelled it on purpouse for him to see it and actually there was nothing in it.... or there is a predalien. Because why would they waste time and money on making a hybrid costume if they weren't going to use it. Tell me what you guys think/know on that subject.   8) 

to olopolip::  McFarlane designs the movie figures to the "T", so the huge blades you see on the figures is AVP movie related.  Now to my own knowlegde, i think this the first time McFarlene made movie action figures before the movie was even released.  All the other Movie Maniacs figures were created way after their movie was released.  So evidently, McFarlane appears to be as big of a fan to AVP as we are.  As to the simularities of the Scar and Celtic figures, yeah you're just about right.  There are differences of the 2, but their armor is relatively the same.  Scar has armor over his stomach, while Celtic does not.  Celtic has a trophy necklace, while Scar does not.  Scar looks like he has spikes on his armor from his right arm, while Celtic appears to lack armor on his left leg (possibly detachable?).  Looks like Celtic has more weapons than Scar by their feet.  It could be possible they left out Scar's wepons so that it doesn't appear cluttered by his feet.  The detachable arm lengthed blades do look a little bit out of place.  I feel the same about the shoulder cannons able to to adjust into a firing position over the predators head.  That definately doesn't look right at all.  At least the good thing is the arm length blades can be taken off if desired, and i personally don't mind them too much anyways.  That gun still bothers me though.  To have a cannon THAT big, I'd go with a hand held rather than shoulder positioned.  I'm confused by that gun though since the "original" Predator shoulder cannon was featured in the Making of the Creatures featurette.  So what size shoulder gun is going to be used here people?  I think the Elder Predator has an admirable feel to his look.  I also noticed the scar on his forehead.  Nice comic book reference there.  Makes me wonder if Scar predator was given that name because he possibly survives with Lex all the way and earns the ceremonial scar of an Alien hunt.  And the Elder arrives at the end of the movie to intiate the short ceremony to both Scar and Lex.  Although personally i don't think that a human should ever earn the scar.  It should be just among Predators.  If the movie stays related to the comic though, Lex will get the ceremonial scar as well.  I could be all wrong though.  The Elder's scar might be there from one of his battles in his younger years.  It's just to me, with so many simularities between the film and the comics, the "scar" is purely ceremonial.  I would like to see McFarlane create a figure for Lex, the captured Queen, facehuggers, hmmm a chestburster emerging from a Predator?  And of course as I have mentioned previously, the Pred Alien.  All which i think will more than likely appear after the release of the film.  They better.  Damn it.    >:D  

Thanks for clearing that up... and yeah... the extra long blades and massive cannons do look a bit out of place... but hay... they still look cool. And actually, the bigger the gun, the less likely it is to be hand held... like bazookas.... you have to rest them on your shoulders... so maybe thats why its on their shoulders. And cool theory on the scar. Thanks m8.

I already have all of the mcfarlane alien and predator figures, and these new ones look extrealmy cool.  I love how each one comes will a little setting (temple, dead body) And they all look very cool.  I wish they would have made an entirely new figure for the alien and not just a repaint of the AR figure.  How ever if we are lucky. Anderson has told Mcfarlane not to show some secret stuff, like the predalien, or if were REALLY lucky a new queen.  but I am perfectley satisfied with my movie maniacs 6 queen.  and the new hicks figure will be cool too.  WHICH LOOKS BETTER? THE AVP MOVIE FIGURES? OR THE ALIEN AND PREDATOR UPDATED MM6 FIGURES?

****PLEASE READ*****  i would like to clear something up, the blades on the celtic predator are NORMAL size (perhaps slightly longer), you just have to look very closely in that the large blade is not one of the wrist blades, its a SEPARATE blade attached to the wrist unit. you can see this on the scar and eldar predator also.  take care my friends  Forte Fortuna Adjuvat.......-real pred

Good question AdamJZ.  I have the all of McFarlane's Alien and Predator MM series except the "12 figures, the Dog Alien and the Resurection Alien.   Not to mention the new ones being released in June.  The Alien warrior from Aliens.  All the rest are just a new version of the MM6.  Look for yourself.  http://www.spawn.com/toys/series.aspx?series=1   I definately like the original Alien, rather than the AR look.  I can't say which queen i like better because we haven't seen if McFarlane even produced an AVP Queen.  The original queen though is also a favorite.    As for the Predators, I'm rather stumped.  My favorite would have to be the original Predator.  I'm not a big fan of the Predator 2 figure.  But now i have the get the June 2004 version just because he comes with the 1715 gun, med kit, and a skull trophy..... GRRRR!  Looking at the AVP Predators, they come in second to the original.  So that's where i stand.  It's was a tough one to answer.  Maybe Darkness should do a pole on your question as to what figures are better.    ;)  

Way to go Growler...I was just about to point out the scar on the Elder's forehead. That is a great reference that all the fanboys and girls (like my girlfriend) would get.  As for the large forearm blades, they do look a little silly but I guess we will just have to see them in action to really judge. Remember these are aliens and not just normal human opponents, so they need more hardcore weapons.  SEE YA.

I would love to know where those blades are coming from?  Even the one from their wrists, where the hell does those 4 foot blades fit in that gauntlet?   Also plasma casters are so damn UGLY!  and now looking at the alien i just cant stand the clear dome alien head.  It doesnt go with the rest of the alien!  its like all off!  man the alien from aliens is ten times better!  smooth heads looks so damn shit.

WTF! Aliens head design sucked, the clear smooth heads are the best, the alien looks fine to me, and the blades have diffrent stages, thay can retract into the diffrent sections of the blade itself, the designs are the best yet.

Loved the statues! Awesome detail! I'm also wondering, since there is an "elder" predator in the statues, could there prehaps be one in the AvP movie?

the other thing we must remember about the large blades is that the predators are not hunting humans, they are hunting aliens, with acid blood, the further away they are yet while still in hand to hand combat benefits them from the spraying acidic blood  Forte Fortuna Adjuvat.........-real pred

to YautjaWarrior:: If McFarlane made an Elder Predator figure, then certainly he will be in the movie.  Also, in one of the featurettes, you can see the Elder's helmet being worked on by one of the designers.  I'm guessing he'll make his appearance at the end of AVP when he comes to see the results of the young predator's Alien hunt.

I think the new preds and aliens look there best yet, did you see that seen in the featuret with the alien behind one of the guys helping lex ready to bite his head off. that alien looked super cool. the guns for the preds will take a little getting use to but paul anderson has done a stand up job so far so there's no reason to doubt him now, i know in the movie things are going to look a whole lot better and make a whole lot more sence. AVP RULES.....

Im sorry but i hate how the aliens look.  And the original pred is so much better then this comic style pred crap.  They look so fake and unrealistic. I absolutly hate every alien design but for aliens.. alien is second best and wouldnt mind that one over others.  But aliens is by far the best and more realistic.  Head goes with rest of body and they look like they have exoskeleton design.   Non creative bastards these days.  ANd i hate how poeple have such different tasts... but i guess the world would suck if every one was the same.   grrr

i think the designs of the alien and predator to make the film work and give the audience an idea of what they are capible to do

If ne of you guys wanna see a real one off predator bust then add me to your msn and ill show you the one off bust that i have.I brought it at a sci-fi show about 5 and a half yrs ago. The guy had hand sculpted the bust,air brushed and has real glass eyes. He had it on show lookin for a reaction then was going to do a limited kit of the original  . SO i brought the origanl off him, i left my details so i could be sent a plack saying i had the original   but it turned out he broke the cast or what ever (im not into art stuff i got no clue) so he was going to have to basicaly re-make a whole new one then do the kits from that. So i have a original   one off. If ne of you want to see it my msn is piercedandtattooedlad@hotmail.com I think the predator figs look cool, dont like the huge blades tho and the elder predators face looks to much like a womens private parts.

McFarlane r experienced in this type of thing so ud expect alot from them. Palisades looks good 2 but id still stick with McFarlane.  Who could not like MM VI figurines?!

I think Amalgamated Dynamics basically did what they want, as they have done for quite some time, because Anderson probably doesn't know exactly what he want, unlike designers like Cameron and Scott. Just watch Resident Evil and listen to his commentary

Bit harsh to say Anderson is an idiot Andrew David, remember it's his film and he got Amalgamated Dynamics on board because he has been impressed with what they have done in the past on the films (even though the majority of US havent). I know that the Alien isnt as good as the original design, F**k that, most of us do but we'll just have to live with it. And it is guarrented they wont look as bad as Resurrection because he is on about keeping the creature in the dark and revealing less of it than the previous two instalmants. I still think its the scariest creature on the screen no matter how much they have degraded it, at least its back to black.

I agree with Izzet... Even though the new ALien design seems 'off' by the original... The good thing is the alien would more likely be unseen in the cover of the darkness rather then showing itself... especially not to show its entire self for more then one second. And in resposne to finches mum... SOme thigns are better left unsaid.

i dont mind the new aliens except the tails WTF ? I personally like the original and would have loved to see it done with some modern technology but these ones arnt bad i think they ruined the pred i mean the whole superman cape on elder next he will be wearing jocks over his pant. O wait he doesnt wear pants technically advanced species my ass they are just Alien cave men with intersteller travelling capabilities.

Hi Izzet. Well lets hope they do keep 'em in the dark, and yes, if they're black as opposed to brown they should look better. Giger said in a documentary that they looked literally like 'turds' in A4, brown and overslimed. I thought that was pretty funny. Chris Symes, the line producer in Prague told me that Anderson didn't choose Amalgamated Dynamics, and interestingly they where actually the first people hired by the producers. They're brought on board because they've done so much of this stuff already and get on well the said producers, and they're cheap. Anderson probably didn't get a say in the matter, but I don't think he would have been bothered about changing them anyway. You need a really strong director to either convince the producers to go elsewhere to get back to the essence of the design (which in my opinion has been lost). Or more agreeably, actually have a director with a vision which is more in keeping with Gigers/Scotts/Camerons Alien and get them to stick to it. I have a problem with Woodruff & Gillis

Every time i look at the Alien face to face with the Predator in shots for this movie, it really dissapoints me that Gigers visionary monster isnt stareing right back at it. After three sequals the Alien's appearance was bound to change due to differant directors and crew but it is still a thrill to see it back on the big screen after 7years. Here's the thing though, IF there is an Alien 5, Scott has already stated he will have some part on it, will he change the design of the Alien?

If Scott's part on the movie has any weight, then yeah, i would expect the Alien to go back to it's original appearance weather he hires ADI or not.  Ultimately it's the director's call to choose from a series of Alien designs drawn for him.  So if Scott doesn't pull any weight, who knows what the next alien will look like.
