QuoteSEGA and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchangising Announce New Aliens vs. Predator Game
SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (February 11, 2009) – SEGA of America Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox L&M) today reveals exciting new details of their increasing portfolio of upcoming games based on Twentieth Century Fox's Aliens universe.
SEGA will publish an all-new Aliens vs. Predator (working title) game in early 2010. The game is currently in development with independent developer Rebellion, creators of the original 1999 Aliens versus Predator; a legendary title that went on to define an entire generation of multiplayer gaming.
With the opportunity to publish what promises to be a landmark game, SEGA has strategically updated the release of the other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio.
"The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us," says CEO of SEGA West, Naoya Tsurumi, "It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming's most cherished iconic titles. By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it, SEGA will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans."
"SEGA continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful track record," said Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media for Fox L&M.
SEGA will announce further details of the new Aliens vs. Predator very soon.

Hah, beat me to it. :)
At IGN they say that A:CM and the RPG are being pushed back and that this game will release first, in 2010. So it's safe to say A:CM ain't comin' out anytime soon.

Finally
music too my ears :D
Wow that's really bad, is there any point in releasing A:CM that late. Surely any interest outside of the hardcore fanbase has fizzled out now already, and now we have another year to go?
....But yay for new AvP.
That's nice.. let's get excited when we see some gameplay video or pictures at least.
I've already been pumped up for this since I played AvP2 back in 2006/2007
well funcroc just commented this on the news article

It sucks that we have to wait for another year for a new game.
That would depend entirely on whether or not they intend to make something like A:CM or something like Iron Man. Sometimes you get exactly what you ask for... (though not the way you want it)
Sounds good! Hopefully it'll live up to the hype.
It's good to have a new AvP game..but that doesn't mean we need Colonial Marines pushed back for it..it's stupid.
The new AvP better blow my goddamn mind. I've been waiting since I beat AvP 2 oh so long ago.
Great day to be at work. ::) Got this gem from Sega to two different email addresses. Lol. I'm excited about it. It's about time we got a new AvP for the next-gen. I wonder what it'll be like though. Disappointed by them pointing CM back though.
FIRST FOX NOW SEGA
AWW f**k!!!!

AvP has and always will be an important part of our online community. The PC games were legendary and astounding.
Probably the best things to come out besides some of the comics.
Thats....thats f**kING AWESOME!
but why push back Aliens:CM,to make people lose interest on purpose?
I never had a PC good enough to run the AVP games until now.
Can't wait to fire up a game on a console. Should have some awesome multiplayer experiences.
Wouldnt be surprised if they actually cancel ACM given all the layoffs that sega had done recently but we"ll see.
I for one am more intersted in this avp game it willl probably take some actual screen or a trailer to get me hyped.
I'm interested to hear which engine they use to power it. The Crytek engine would make it look f**king sik.
I just jizzed in my pants from that news! :D
Some of the most exciting news I have read on here for awhile!
It's about time. For years we have waited for a new Aliens vs. Predator game, ever since the masterful PC versions I have longed for a modern console release, & I couldn't be more ecstatic that it's finally going to happen. I'll hold off my excitement until they release some physical evidence though; a trailer, screenshots, anything. For all we know, this game might not even play like the old PC titles. Let's hope Rebellion can once again deliver us an experience that is worthy of the Alien & Predator legacy.
Must... get... now...
Well since Rebellion is working on it I've got a lot of hope; they've got a solid track record for AvP games.
I just wish it was Monolith making it - they've gotten REALLY good at doing super-atmospheric, dark, scary games (Condemned, FEAR).
^^^^ Exactly what I was thinking when I was playing the FEAR 2 demo.
Not to mention Monolith has experience making AvP games - they did AvP2 :P
My favorite one.
I dont even know what i would do if Monolith was creating this game :o
Jump for joy
TBH I'm more excited about Rebellion doing it. AvP1 was far more atmospheric than AvP2 and still makes me play cautiously to this day.
I never had much fun with AvP1...but I only played it for a short time though and I had to return it to my friend.

I love AvP1, the gameplay is a lot more fun for me than AvP2 (which is still kickass, mind you). I wouldn't say I play "cautiously", but it can still make me jump sometimes.
I haven't really been on avp1 that much but i love the other games :D

Ya...you make pretty good movies with it too ;)
I'm actually looking at starting Let's Play AvP2 videos in the next day or so. I want to record my first one TONIGHT. :D
Do it up homie.

Wait did you do those Lets Play War of the Monsters on Youtube?
Oh no, I've only done some "Let's Play AvP games" videos on Viddler.com. I've done all of AvP Gold's main campaign and some of the bonus levels, and I'm going to start on AvP2.
"Let's Play" is sort of a big thing on other forums -- lots of people do lots of different games; it's not all done by the same person.
Oh my bad then. Anyway it sounds cool!
I have been waiting for a new AVP game for ages now. This makes me happy now :)!
But how do we know this new AVP will actually come out? Maybe it will be caned like the other two Aliens games.
I wonder what the storyline will be like? I'm hoping it will be something original, but true to the movies. Not a complete disaster like the previous two AvP film storylines. Sure, AvP had a pretty decent story to it but it wasn't played out correctly. I hope they do it right...
I imagine it'd be like the previous games. Marines are working on terraforming colonies, Aliens emerge as a result, and Predators want a piece of the action.
I hope not. I want something original but, as I stated above, true to the movies.

They are not canned yet.
Heh, funny that you did say "yet"....
Well it might or might not be
I'm don't get why people want this new avp game to be like avp2...I thought avp2 was a big let down and in a way a step back from the first avp game...
In what way? The second game had better graphics and smoother gameplay.

AvP felt, however limited by the tech by then, more like a enjoyable techdemo than a complete game.
It's pro's:
-Unique character gameplay
-proper soundengine
-proper lighting engine (realtime per pixel lighting, 1999 baby!)
-atmosphere (though if I'd play it today, 2009, I find it too much Doom3, no lights that seem to really effect the surroundings and if they do, the whole atmosphere is gone)
It's con's:
-poor polishing of models, sounds, levels and what story?
-poor support/MP options (though coop was cool as hell), not really a problem seen it was made in 1999 and both Q3 and UT99 battled for best MP title...
-poor leveldesign (IMO)
-poor marketing
AvP 2 on the other hand felt more like a proper game, it had the story, it had the characters, there was humor and drama. It had polishing and more varied enviroments aswell as outdoor enviroments, without losing it's fearfactor. It had semi-pro multiplayer support (though limited in size and gameplay options, just like AvP99) and finally added mod-support to the community.
Pro's:
-complete game where all components had the same weight
-full and detailed storyline
-better MP gameplay/support
-variation in enviroment
Con's:
-animation of characters
-stylized graphics/character design (Monolith was and to some degree still is notorious to clinging to conceptart)
-arena-like MP (something along the lines of RTCW: Enemy Territory would fit better, or at least be an option, just like BF2 type conquest)
-too scripted in SP, lowering replay value.
Both were good games, but it's 2009, we might expect something better today.
Maybe you should edit the original post like it says in the rules instead of making 3 seperate posts that could have been one...
^ What he said. Double and triple posting is against the rules.

AvP3 in next PC Gamer (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=210065).
YAY!
Oh baby oh baby oh baby! I WANT!
I seriously hope it's more than a snippet...
I edited your post so the link works, Croc.
It's probably just an announcement or the news of Sega's idiotic reshuffling, now putting AvP3 at the top.
I hope they give us something we don't already know.
Meesa drool on computer! Meesa a'wantin diz sh***********t!
Not sure where to put this. Sega mentioned AvP in an interview:
QuoteAliens Vs. Predator is a big name next-gen FPS. Could this be Segas answer to Halo or Call of Duty?
AP: We are really excited about this product. Its a superb licence and we are working with a world class developer, so watch this space.
JC: There has been a great level of coverage in the press so far for this title since its initial announcement, which is really encouraging. Obviously we will be supporting Alien vs. Predator with a triple-A campaign.
Source: http://www.mcvuk.com/features/476/Segas-new-Euro-dream-team
If the game is an intense as these screenshots indicate, it could definitely go toe-to-toe with CoD. D-Day on Normandy Beach ain't got nothing on an infirmary charged by Warriors ;D
btw, triple-A means the other two alien games at E3?, or It,s just the three species campaign from avp3
Triple A = very high standard of quality in game developers terms.

They mean that the license is awesome and that they are really handling it well and carefully.
Is the new AVP game for consoles only, or PC too?
It's for all platforms, save the Wii.
There wasn't really all that much in the PC Gamer article. There's one Predator picture I don't remember seeing anywhere, but it's concept art. The only new details are sparse and not in quotes, meaning that they could easily be speculation.
