I am not surprised than an American is struggling with the idea America is not the most important country to every country :P

QuoteWould Australia accept an immigrant from the US? I sure as heck prefer your heathcare system. Hahaha.
We're actively trying to adopt your system.

You mean China as your alternative trade partner? Hehe. They sanctioned Australia didn't they over your former PM calling for a Covid investigation? And then who did Australia turn to? America baby!  ;D

Quote from: SM on Today at 10:17:54 AMOur four biggest trading partners are in Asia.  We don't have a very big presence in terms of trade facilitation in the US.  It's focused on China and India, the latter due to trade diversification during Covid.  The US is hardly going to put any pressure on them.

Actually America has been putting pressure (whether it will work is another thing I should add). Trump did warn BRICS nations (including India and China), if they come up with an alternative currency to avoid the US dollar, they will be hit with 100% tariffs.

Anybody else catch the Holiday Special easter egg in there?

Giger wanted the Alien to be sensual, not monstrous. The guy probably imagined it walking towards you like a female model on a catwalk seducing you.

Since it was mentioned very early on that the xenos take on characteristics of their hosts, the depiction in Alien and Aliens does not pose a problem.
If they really wanted it to be different, they would have done it.
After all, the queen also has a completely different way of moving.
the chestburster is like a snake. A fully grown alien could easily have looked like a giant snake.

I think the movement was as expected.

I think the only thing "wrong" or unalien about the xenomorph is the human legs and human hips. Esp A1.

Isolation did a great job with the digitigrade legs but it looked a little too weird. I think Romulus got it right with an in between look. Also the double fingers look a bit gimmicky.

I think a good redesign would be an original 100% HR Giger design without the limitations of 1979 bodysuit filming. As I believe a lot of the modern aspects of XX121 that we accept as canon today come from the fact that in 1979 they simply couldn't do any better.

I think it's probably 60-40 look / movement. If we could look into Gigers mind these things probably didn't move in a human way at all (hips/pelvis/legs/knees/shoulders/elbows). But VERY alien like. Maybe part snake/reptile like smooth movements, part very sharp unnatural insect like movements of certain appendages, and some very slight human like movements.

What we got in the movies is (understandably) 90% human like movements.

Quote from: fluffyfists on Nov 23, 2024, 06:10:06 AMI am surprised there is no mention of Aliens Expanded, one of the best movie documentaries ever made.

Absolutely, Aliens Expanded is awesome 4hrs of pure Aliens.

In Search of Tomorrow is also incredible. It's 5-6 hrs. We are so lucky to have these great documentaries.

I think there are several versions of it. probably also made of different materials.
I was at an exhibition where the piece was hanging vertically on the wall.
however, it was brown, bronze-like in color.
