...Or that A5 is Ripley8's dreams? Would make more sense.

Naw it wouldn't though, because for that to be the case Alien V would have to be bad enough for them to say so and we don't know that yet.

Immortan Jonesy

I think Alien Resurrection, AVP films and Prometheus are Morse's dreams (and maybe at the same time, Jonesy is dreaming with Morse). Think about it  :-*

At best this movie will be on par with A:R, or even ALIENS if he gets things right. But it'll never get close to ALIEN or A3. Blomkamp just doesn't have it in him. He is great with designs and concepts and simplistic but very engaging characters, just like Cameron, but that's about it. He would be a great Alien video game director.

Aliens is a great film, because it wasn't great in the same way A3 & Alien are (Which are my preferred films actually)- doesn't negate how brilliant Aliens is.

Plus you can't see the future, don't be so arrogant to say it's going to be "this, that and the other."

On a par with Aliens, the best film in the series? I'll take it... :)

I don't like Blomkamp's way of directing. Visually and conceptually it's fine but other than that it kind of blows.

Oh, I do. F**king awesome movie, same as the first one. Very little between them, although Aliens edges it for me. Just a shame that the quality of the series dipped sharply from the third one onwards...

I have to agree.  There is a REASON so many films and video games have copied Aliens over the decades.  Its a classic itself, just like the first Alien film.  Way better than any modern action movie, superb pacing, and tense as hell.

Thats why I disagree with some who think Aliens was mindless action.  In fact, the movie spends the first half or so establishing characters and motivations.  THEN, when the shit hits the fan its not "badass" marines blowing apart aliens with pulse rifles.   The aliens and marines only fight TWICE in the movie.  First when the marines find the colonists cocooned and get their asses kicked, and the second when the aliens cut the power and get inside the barricade and kick the marines' asses AGAIN.  Aliens is not about meat-heads killing aliens, it about a group of people trapped and surviving with their backs up against the wall.   Only later movies and games made the marines "badass" meat-heads.

Thats why I want a true sequel to Aliens besides Alien 3.

Wow. That is a scary thought. When thinking NB it's hard not to think A|R. Eww... he should just do an A|R sequel and be done with it. Don't make this harder than it needs to be. :P

Why are you people so blind that you can't see Fox came to Neill because of his concept?
It's not going to change, Christ I remember why I left in the first place.

From all the bits and pieces revealed so far, it seems NB only has a rough idea of what he wants to do/ apitch and some general concept art, that's not indicative in anyway of the final movie. Fox saw what he did, contacted him, listened to his pitch and they agreed to let him do  an Alien movie. There still isn't aany script, and we can't be even sure Ripley will make it to the movie. Also some sites reported that from talks with insiders, this Alien movie will follow Prometheus 2 chronologically and possibly even plot wise. Plus Ridley Scott is producing.

So who knows, they are probably just started discussions about what the movie will actually be and where it will actually be set in the timeline. We only have Neils intention for now. No doubt the producers are following these boards like before and other media outlets to see how we reacted to the news and these few details. Another importyant part if Alien5 comes after Prometheus 2 is how will they aproach the story. If P2 has and Alien 1 tone, claustrophobic horror, then they will distance A5 tonally from it. If P2 is still some sort of space opera, man vs god things, then A5 can go with the more simple horror aproach.

Thus things are still early, with only a pitch in a place(no script), some business stuff agreed upon between the director, Ridley and the studio and some early talks. It will take a while for a script to take shape with several drafts completed, all players involved to agree on whatever concept they'll have. Till then we have nothing to go on, just endless bickering. Probably a whole year from now on of endless arguing and contradictions and whatever true or false rumors will come up. They should have kept their mouth shut and just announce they signed the deal and refrain from other comments

So many games etc. copied it because it is so damn easy to copy because it is so generic and formula based. Doesnt take a genius. It's like porn.

SiL

It wasn't generic when it was made. People made a formula out of it.
