Quote from: PAS on Jul 16, 2024, 06:53:14 PMThese are literally ALL the products that aren't toys or literature made under Disney, not "just a few". We haven't had a single bad game or movie under Disney so far and even if that changes in one month the track record will still be mostly positive. And this is a literal presentation done by the DEVS, not Disney, THE DEVS. They are presenting it to Disney so Disney can review and demand changes, as it happens in licensed games constantly. You are blaming Disney for something the devs themselves came up with in a presentation done before the game has even begun it's dev cycle.

There has been plenty of bad disney products going on for the last few years or so now, kind of hard to miss.

I'm not blaming disney as true enough this could be down to the devs, but given disney's recent M.O, it would not be surprising for them to add their own crap to a product since they do seem to meddle a lot these.  Fox did it and the franchise suffered for it.

If the crap like zombie aliens was the devs ideas, they might want to remember what franchise they are working on. sci-fi, not supernatural. Either way, regardless of the sources of these bad ideas, its definitely looking like something that I will avoid.

Hopefully they will go back to the drawing board and try to keep it a bit more grounded. While FTE wasn't exactly something to take too seriously, it at least didn't go into zombie territory.
Disney is a gigantic company and their other departments are moot to Alien and Predator.
This is not a "could", this IS from the Devs. It's their game pitch presentation.

Exactly, I knew it seemed like a game pitch. Also seems like they needed to add some points to get studio heads on board by using and mentioning other video games as a way to say this will sell. Or maybe I'm just hoping.

I downloaded FTE ps5 version last night for a second attempt at the game to see if I could complete it. I even downloaded the alien 3 ape suit skin to make my experience more enjoyable.
I've not even located dr Honiker and already I'm bored.

I was right the first time, this game wasn't made more me.
Will delete tonight, safe in the knowledge that I tried my best.

I know a few people who didn't really enjoy it. I personally was lucky enough to find it to be a solid experience. I love the vibe and music and the way your forced to work as a team on the higher levels. A lot I would have liked differently, such as the less of a grind feeling and a story with cutscenes, character development but overall I'll take it.

It was the closest game to give me the AvP2 vibes.

But it is very surface level.  Some of the ancient RPG tropes they used for an action game annoyed me.  Like the old background characters not moving their mouths when they spoke.  That's like late 90's stuff.

We've also gotten to the point where in gaming if you see it, you should be able to go to it.  So not being able to explore the homebase was also kinda lame.

So as soon as I'd done the action stuff, and completed the campaigns, which I thought were fun while they lasted, there was little else to do.  Playing the very limited campaigns over and over again to get new customizations and to level up, just wasn't my thing.

6/10.  Solid while it lasted.  Didn't last long enough.

Honestly well said. They really did miss the boat with this aspect for sure. There should have been more interactive, Lore content, realistic NPC interactions and exploration allowed at home base.

It wasn't a triple A game though if I recall correctly, I might be wrong.

It wasn't, and for that being said a 6/10 was pretty good imo.  It wasn't absolute dogshit there just wasn't enough to keep me engaged personally.

That said, if people loved the game, I don't knock other people's taste.

In hindsight 6/10 seems accurate. I really enjoyed the first play through but after that it just bores me to tears.

I think it was an interesting experiment but that style of game doesn't quite fit the IP imo.

I did feel the same way, actually led me to putting the game down for a bit. Though when I came back to it, I found that the game on nightmare difficulty with good players was a lot of fun. Forcing each of us to play together as one unit. Triggering a wave and retreating back down corridors and holding together. In its nature it is not an Alien isolation or obviously anything near it but imo on those harder difficulties, I had a great time.

After Romulus I can see some of the more outlandish things in this leak being true.

This really does feel like an old 80-90s Aliens Expanded Universe themed game compared to Dark Descent (which is more keeping strictly to Aliens with some added features).  The hybrid cultists through Royal Jelly is straight out of one of the pre-Disney comics if I remember right.  I feel ok with this, since its pretty clearly an EU themed game.

All of the details in this are still canon to the RPG which seems to be treated by Fox's execs as the 'official lore' now.

If Engineers end up being in the game or dlc I'll definitely pick it up.

Either way I'll more than likely be picking it up but... I do agree that would be interesting.
