Comic-Con have just released part of the programme for this year's convention which starts July 21st in San Diego.
As reported earlier there are rumors that Fox will be showing something from Prometheus this year. This could be in the form of posters, images or maybe even a little teaser trailer if we're very lucky.
According to the Comic-Con programme, Fox will be presenting in Hall H at 3.15PM local time on Thursday July 21st.

There HAS to be some kind of imagery (no there technically doesn't) but I REALLY hope there is. I also hope there is a detailed report posted here.
If there will be footage shown, it's almost guaranteed that someone will record it and post it online.
If this will be on comic con and the movie will be out in June 2012 or what? you really think you gonna see something like action clips you will only see the letter Prometheus and maybe a voice speaking over some alien things or ancient things.
They have a whole year of work so dont get your hopes up.
The Dark Knight and Spiderman are being released a month after Prometheus, and they already have full-blown trailers which will emerge online any day now.
And that's pretty much what I'm expecting to see, and I'm excited for it.

Why the HELL do they release trailers so bloody early? The film is 11 months away, for Christ's
sake. A healthy time for a Prometheus trailer should be December or January 2012 at the earliest.
All good things................
Looks like Damon Lindelof will be doing the talking while Ridley is out in Iceland.

Why do you want to wait 6 more months for the trailer? I certainly don't feel like waiting that long.
super 8 had a teaser a whole year earlier. this is quite normal. bring on the trailer.
Fox are taking their time with prometheus, and i'm happy with that, theyre not rushing anything and letting Ridley do things at his pace. I'm happy waiting, when a trailer arrives it will be awesome.
I kinda get the feeling that absolutely nothing will be shown in the form of pics or a trailer but rather they will prob just have that teaser poster on show again.
We've already heard the buzzwords "first-look" and "preview" so there will be at least some images. Definitely more than a poster though.
I hope so, it would be truly awesome if there was some footage shown or images!
Hope they show footage, I will be waiting outside the Hall H, and if I get into the panel I will let you know.
That's great man. Hope you get in.
will be interesting to see if we get any footage of a living breathing space jockey in the trailer in the suit, even though , the odds are slim
I'm just looking to see the cast, that's all.
I want to see the cast, some costumes, sets, maybe a ship or some tech stuff. All of the above A+ but something at least. I actually dont want to see any creature design at all. I want them to hold that off as long as is possible. If not completely. Actuall what I really want to see more than anything are landscapes and sets. I want to see the world the film occupies.
I figure it will look something like the trailer to Alien 1979. Format wise, like the way it's cut, and the music. Hopefully they wont show any alien shots. Keep it a mystery, let your imagination fill in the gaps like in Alien.

They won't be showing any of the creatures. Remember this IS a creature film. The Jockeys and the original and Jockey form of the alien. We won't see those until the film premieres methinks.

This sounds reasonable. I dare to say I hope they dont show any creature this soon, I don't want to have anything spoiled . But it would be cool to see something of the movie's universe, specially the spaceship.
I hope this movie will be huge. I'm usually not easily teased by rumors and vague news, but Prometheus is driving me crazy. I simply
need to check the internet everyday for news. Its becoming a addiction :P.
Don't be so sure of that. This is 21st Century Hollywood, they like to tell the audience everything in press releases and trailers these days. It would be very shocking and a breathe of fresh air, if somehow Scott was able to keep it all close to the chest and not show us any of those amazing things, so they would be truly shocking when seen in the film. Just like Alien.
But i'm not gonna hold my breath on that, honestly.
Considering The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and Spiderman trailers are all now "out there" I would be very suprised if nothing from Prometheus is shown.
Even The Hobbit has been releasing a shit ton of official photos and that film is like 18 months away from release. Surely we will see something soon.
The thing about all those other films you mentioned are that we roughly know what to expect with them, regarding look and designs etc... Prometheus we know next to nothing, and therefore the powers that be may choose to hold their cards close to their chest for longer to build up the anticipation...
I think Prometheus is with the same boat with TDKR, and that movie already has a teaser out.
If teaser will be something minimalist like The Derelict flying past shot, I will be happy :)
I don't want to see anything that has to do with the aliens/jockeys. I just want to see the human side in the trailer. See Cain's post.
Yeah I'd be happy if all we saw was a bit of the cast and a look at the interior of the ship. Creature stuff can come later ;)

This thread is depressing for two reasons. 1- It makes me realize how difficult it will be for there to NOT be some leak of the creature design, as the premier approaches, and 2- It makes me realize how difficult it will be to intentionally NOT look at that type of spoiler.
Maybe they can be smart and leak one of the designs, that doesn't spoil too much and leave 'something far more dangerous that we haven't yet seen' for the premiere? I hope its not all spoiled before hand, but nowadays...for a movie like this...it's gonna be hard to pull that off.
I'm still looking forward to the info at the comic con even if we still don't know if it's a Alien film or not. I still think the movie will be link to Alien similar how Violence Jack is to Devilman. VJ is a sequel to Devilman and feels like a stand alone manga then a sequel or prequel.
I've been watching the behind the scenes of Alien Resurrection and I'm just flabbergasted atbhow many people used the term 'amazing script'. On retrospect and as we look forward to more information coming out at CominCon I am just so excited that this saga is firmly in the hands of capable people. Even the music for AR was horrible.
its funny how none of you wishes to see the creatures of the film this early, but me I just want them to show aliens, space jockeys, planets and more at the Con. A hard-core fan wet dream.
Its called 'the element of surprise' I like a tiny bit of spoilers but I want to be scared a little.

Fair point but aside from people like us who frequent film forums etc the average person, at this stage, has probably not even heard of Prometheus or be aware of any connection to Alien etc.
At some point Fox etc are going to have address this and promote the connection to Alien or they may be dissapointed with the box office returns.
It is worth noting that this film is really up against "the big boys" in terms of competition over the summer months.
As with all things Hollywood these days - It does not matter how good the film actually is - even if the fans and critics etc adore it- if it fails money wise...I cant see anymore happening for a long, long time.

I posted a schedule a page back with who's gonna be there. But footage confirmation is great.
20th Century Fox (Thursday, 3:15-4:30 p.m., Hall H) – The studio is tight-lipped about what upcoming films will be presented here, but look for Ridley Scott's highly-anticipated sci-fi film "Prometheus" to be among them. In which case, Charlize Theron will be there as well.

It's been shooting there for over a week so it seems like it.
I was rewatching Lindelof's interview with Kevin Pollack yesterday, and he said there was like three weeks left of filming. That was a few weeks ago.
Somehow I was under the impression that they would be shooting until the end of August.
If they do only have a week left, there's no reason we shouldn't see some footage, I don't think.
I think they still have one week left to shoot in the Scottish Highlands.
But I really do hope that footage is a trailer, because that means it will be released online.
So it's the 21st, at least for me. So not long.
Hope to wake up tomorrow to see some news!

Timberlake?
For another scifi film... not Prometheus.
The great mystery about the Alien revealed. It's Timberlake underneath...that would make the Space Jockey...(make up your own mind to pass the time)
The Fu€k! where are the news and updates about what's going on at ComiCon????????
Still a couple of hours before the panel/ footage.

Looks like Fassbender I think.
Awesome
Not much of an official first photo but it feels like ALIEN. Looks like Fassbender is skipping.
I think it's legit. One of the props looks exactly like one from the recent leaked pics.

Looks like the stuff we saw from the Iceland set... seems legit... black sand... the mechanical "leg"....
Aliens are back in space madafaka! :D
That picture has an '80 vibe to it...I don't know why.
Which is good btw

They say they are about to interview the cast.
Guy Pierce is there too apparently.
Has anyone got a live update of the panel?
QuoteEarlier today, Comic Con audiences got their first look at Ridley Scott's Prometheus and the director himself showed up, via satellie from Iceland, to join in the fun. Part of the news is that Scott is, in fact, shooting Prometheus in 3D and to that point he made the following shocking statement.
I'll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes.
Is the man behind Blade Runner, Gladiator and Alien really leaving two dimensions behind? How is he using 3D in Prometheus? And what does his screenwriter Damon Lindelof think about it? Read Scott's full quote and more after the jump.
Here's what Scott said during the panel.
3D has been a wonderful exercise but I was brought up as a camera operator so its really about lensing and all that kind of stuff. So with the help I've had from a wonderful cameraman and his technical team its been, for me, a pretty straight forward ride. That said I'll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes. I love the whole process. 3D opens up the universe of even a small dialogue scene so I've been very impressed with that.
To add that that, earlier in the day at the Prometheus press conference, co-screenwriter Damon Lindelof – who found himself as the mouthpiece for the movie since Scott was still shooting in Iceland – described a bit more about Scott's choice and how Prometheus is doing things a little different:
When Ridley decided to film in 3D, he understood [lighting] was going to be one of the profound challenges and I think one of the things that was important to him was, in terms of the constructions of the sets, that the movie was shot on sound stages in Pinewood. Just these humongous, expansive sets. Everything is built. If you're building a ship, he just built the ship.....I've never been on the set of a movie that's actually shooting 3D before. Anytime you walk into video village there are essentially five massive video screens. You walk in, get a pair of glasses and you can see the shot and suddenly you understood, even on the production design level – the movie was designed by this guy Arthur Max who did Fight Club – 'Oh my god, they actually designed this movie for 3D.' Ridley is a shot maker. He makes beautiful art. So the idea of going in post and putting things in there digitally is not going to happen in this movie. Therefore, I feel any movie that's going to be in 3D has to answer the question, 'Can you justify this being in 3D? Why should it be in 3D?' I think the answer to that question for Prometheus is it creates a very immersive environment. The idea that you're in sometimes very confined spaces, sometimes very wide open spaces. But the only way to trick your brain into feeling you're in the movie, going through these experiences with these characters, is that the 3D helps bring you into that immersive environment and just based on what ive seen so far I think probably one the most visionary and visual directors in the world is finally using this medium, I think its going to be pretty special.
Do you agree? And do you think Scott will stand by that word?
slashfilm.
He understands the immersive potential of the new tool. :-*
So Squid hasn't gotten back to us yet. This has me worried....has he been caught or what? If he did or did not record the footage he would have told us by now.
Sorry guys for the waiting, unfortunately I wasn't able to record any footage. I wanted post everything I saw on the panel (which looks stunning!) but the wireless connection at the panel was really slow and with all the descriptions that are now available, I can't really say nothing that may be actually new. I feel bad for not bringing anything to you. The only thing I can share is answers, if you want to ask me anything about the panel, please feel free to ask.
QuoteI wasn't able to record any footage
Explain this.
Oh, and what designs did you see in the clip that looked modern and futuristic? Did you see any holography in the ship interiors? Or was everything akin to what we saw in the Nostromo? Or was it a blend of both?

Can you describe in as vivid detail as you can remember exactly how the creature being incinerated by a flamethower looked? I've heard reports that it appeared extremely similar to the xeno we know, complete with the same tail. Is this true?
Oh, and did the logo at the end of the footage look like this?:

Did you see any, WY( weyland yutani )logo?
Did you see any, reference to H. R. Giger, who tells of the creatures?
The atmosphere of the film is similar to the original?

Everything was futuristic, the human ship's interior looked a lot like the Nostromo, with lots of yellow lights and really greyish. it was a little bit of both, there was even a comparison of the dining room of the Nostromo and a room in the ship that was almost identical in design

I remember the scene, but I don't remember seeing a creature. only like a man in a dark space suit( maybe it was that) it was a quick-shot.

No WY logos as far as I can remember.
There were no creatures, just a giant head like the one Giger made.
The atmosphere is the same, it was like if you were looking into deleted scenes from the original alien.
Thanks so much for your valuable information.
I'd like to know how exactly Micheal Fassbender was "stylised" to look slightly inhuman, as described in some sites from the footage shown - are we talking Jude Law in A.I or something else?
hey squidlovez, can you elaborate any at all on the green/goop/jelly substance in the footage? and the urns/jars?
thanks dude

I don't know much about it, but I did found it interesting. On the clip, an index finger is shown with some weird gray liquid (just to give an example kinda like the spiderman3 venom black thingy http://digitalcontentproducer.com/mil/features/gt02t_comp_v39_200.jpg (http://digitalcontentproducer.com/mil/features/gt02t_comp_v39_200.jpg)) that is like expanding into the finger. In some sites it is said that is blood, I don't think it was blood at all because it was like moving, If I had to guess form the leaked plots I would say is maybe the terraforming stolen tech... oh, and it is also shown first in a big container. that's what think it can be.

To be honest, I don't remember. sorry for that.
cheers dude, I found the mention of the jelly substance to be very interesting, I suspect it COULD be the 'Alien DNA' that has been mentioned a few times.

Awww yeah
Another thing that made me speechless in the footage and that I don't think no one has talked about it is that, like in the middle of the footage a quickshot of something that actually looked like this was seen(https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdo-while.com%2Fimg%2Fweird%2Fbiomechanic-by-h-r-giger%2Fbiomechanic-by-h-r-giger44.jpg&hash=c17bc59c9ecd85b57ed7e2a5ed022352926b5a2d) It wasn't really clear, the background was all white and the "facehugger " color was yellow. Maybe it was something else, but for me it was exactly that.
Also footage inside this caves was shown (https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.prometheus-movie.com%2Fuploads%2Fset_pic_1.jpg&hash=7abb063b93e24144e0a2dd74beb3afef34eec895) first there were 3 people with spacesuits walking and then it changed to the first-person view perspective of one of them.

verrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting
Weird grey substance = nanotech?
could be. also Squid, was wondering why no-one has mentioned this before, but what was the music like during the footage? I think I heard someone say that it was music from the original Alien that was playing during it?

There are many things that no one has said, about facehugger scene which for me reflected that same drawing of giger, I really dont know has no one said it! I mean, I wont confirm that it was a facehugger (but rigth now I will call it the facehugger shot ;D) Even my brothers said it to me, that the drawing looked like the scene in the footage, the screen was blurry, it was more like something was behind a white screen. And it looked in shape, exactly like the facehugger in that photo. The music played was from the original Alien, but there were more sound effects than soundtrack, mostly of the sounds were form the original film also.
Did you hear any of the music from the trailer for Alien?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oYNvmNZP2o (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oYNvmNZP2o)
And still no g_d damn footage of the actual reel shown....what gives. Lame.
I've already moved on from that. I'm comfortably numb.

From the soundtrack I think only the beginning soundtrack was in ,just after the scream. the only part of soundtrack I do remember were the classic ones 2:03-2:14, 4:40-4:55.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaT-JX5r8i8# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaT-JX5r8i8#)
thanks dude. its pretty awesome how they used the music from the original alien for the footage. I read that the title appeared in the same way that the title appeared in the original Alien film - that too is awesome. the footage sounds great, hopefully they release it in the form of a teaser before Planet of the Apes, however I am, for some reason, getting the feeling that they won't.
