I agree if you're talking about the part where Wolf is standing there with all the bombs? going off around him and he does that thing with his hands, pure awesomeness.  8) ;)

Because you saw that in AVP? Well that is just Anderson BS.
A predator can make sounds with mask on, but a Predator cant roar with mask ON.

And why wouldn't a Predator be able to roar with his mask on? If he can cry out in pain, roaring shouldn't be a problem. That's like saying a guy wearing a motorcycle helmet can't scream.

say what u want, I just dont think a Predator are able to roar with his mask on.

As I said before, He can make sounds, but to be able to ROAR he needs to take off his mask (expand the mandible).
Thats what I think and thats what we saw in Predator 1 in the end scene.

A human doesn't have great big bloody mandibals that need to flex to roar. Duh.

Post by: Dusk on Dec 17, 2007, 10:21:08 PM
Yeah, and why do you think that? Is his mouth suddenly sealed shut with his helmet on? We see the first Predator treating his wound with his helmet on, and then waking up the whole jungle with his scream. So what is it, that makes you think because he's got his helmet on, he wouldn't be able to roar?

Ok, I will say it again, He can make sound and scream or what ever with mask on. But he cant do the BIG ROAR like he did at the end scene with his god damn mask on.

It depends of the roaring, the big fury roaring can be done only if the pred doesn't wear his mask, like front of Dutch , or just after Harrigan removes the mask.

And you're still avoiding to answer my question. Why wouldn't he be able to roar with his mask ON? If it's because of the mandibles? They are on his face, they aren't jammed down his throat and part of his vocal cords or anything.

because he needs to open his mouth to do the BIG ROAR as seen at the end scene in P1. With mask on he cant open his mouth wide and that means, he cant do the BIG ROAR.

Why all this argument? Predators can clearly roar with their masks on. He screams/roars with it on in Predator 1, roars with it on in Predator 2 and Celtic does 'the roar' with it on in AVP.

Case closed.

Seems they stretched the budget just that little bit extra by using a shot from another film...the overhead shot of the city going dark is from Die Hard 4, if I'm not mistaken.

P1, he screamed twice: Medi-Kit scene, and in the scene where he got trapped in the net.

P2, I think he screamed twice. Lightining scene and where he rips off Jerry's head

It's one hell of a shriek then, and a shriek still requires the same movement a roar does. He also laughs with his mask on, which is seen to use his mandibles at the end. He doesn't need to use them though.

QuoteWhen does he roar in predator 2?

When he kills the Columbians, when he kills Danny, when he own the train and definitely when he get hit by lightening whilst celebrating. All Shrieks and Roars.

Not necessarily, it doesn't contradict the past films. Anyway, it's still canon.

Gaghhh!

NO!

We mean the huge ROAR.

I think we can mark Celtics mandibal flexing roar alongside the 2 minute chestbursters, the broken pyramid system and antartica being tropical.

How do we know?

Seriously how do we know they require the same motion?  ???

Because when the Predator shrieks in Predator 2 without his mask on he makes the same movements as he does when roaring.

But does it really matter? The AVPR scene looks badass.

Yes it does matter for me, When I saw Celtic do the Big Roar with his mask on, That did ruin alot for me, and I bet for many other fans aswell.
Celtic's roar ruined stuff for you? i've heard of picky but thats just insane lol

Wow, we Predator fanboys sure are a different breed.

We went from talking about a cool looking gif, to, arguing over whether or not a Predator can roar with his mask on. BRILLIANT.

On another note, I think Predators CAN roar with their masks on. Hell I can roar with a mask on, why can't they?

As I said, Predator 2 shows roaring and screeching/shrieking require the same movement. The Predator screeches/shrieks many times in both moves.

And none the less, AVP is canon, so accept it.

He comes close. But it's mainly just shrieking.

The closest would probably be when he's just de-spined Billy in the tree. That gets fairly 'Roarsh.'

Either way, he has to open his mandibles to shriek, so AVP did not "f**k up" by having Celtic roar with his mask on.

I just watched it again they used the same "roaring" sound effect from the first film. Which means it is wrong because with that roar he had his mandibles open.

He can shriek with the mask on, which opens his mandibles when it's not on. It's no different with roaring.

maybe their mask helps amplify the sounds they mak, so they can coordinate while hunting, or mimic 2 attract prey, while still having their masks on.

Actually the Predator "roars" in the original when hes patching himself up, specifically when he applies the clamp to his leg. You can call it a shriek, but the sheer volume of the sound he makes would require a level of articulation like that of the roar when he's unmaksed, so he can roar with his mask on.

it's a pretty cool shot no less, whether its iconic or not depend on the beholder the end shot of WOLF standing does remind me just a tad bit of the scene in PREDATOR when PREDATOR was firing off rounds from his plasma cannon

Seriously how do we know they require the same motion?  ???

How do you know they need to open there mouths?

Its simple people its the same deal with ta human yell. When people yell they usually open there mouths wide and yell either in pain or fear or if they are idiots :P. "BUT" you don't have to open ur mouth wide to do just as loud of a scream. Its the way you balance your vocal cords! So just because his mask is on doesn't  mean he cant let out a "Huge Roar" as you are calling it. Its that simple.
