Well, here it is, apparently the first new addition to the cast for the next film. I don't know a lot about Rik Barnett but what I have seen of him, I'd say he's a decent actor, there's a few examples of his work on YouTube to judge for yourself. As for who he's most likely to play I think it could very well be, as suggested on the P2 thread below, Shaw's brother.... though how that would pan out we'll just have to see. Enjoy!

Ridley's not meeting anyone, people are coming to RSA. It's a production company, there's somebody notable all the time.
Remember how Jon Spaiths described how he got the writing job for Prometheus? Actors, cinematographers, writers, various kind of artists are having meetings at the Ridley Scott Associates ALL THE TIME, about various projects, in various stages of development..

Thanks Chris, don't mean to step on your toes on this one, guess I can take out the "rumor control" tag. First I knew of this was on Facebook, then saw it on Prometheus2-movie.com (through you I assume) as most people probably know by now. exactly - summer 2014 would be best as theres nothing seemingly huge SF wise like star wars
xmas 2014 you have Hobbit 2 and Interstellar so that might be a risky time. (competeing with Nolans SF film i mean)
and obvious summer 2015 its Episode VII, Avengers 2 etc (with Avatar 2 at xmas)
The first casting rumor, which was for Charlize Theron, and went online April 2nd, 2011. So, a little over as year before Prometheus came out.
Now I hope people actually read the article, cause I do mention that Rik's role is completely dependant on what the final script draft recommends. The script is NOT complete yet, but Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof, had ideas in development for Prometheus 2 well before Prometheus 1 hit theaters last June. And Ridley himself has met with Rik, according to my sources. So, there must be a role in mind, if they're already considering casting possibilities. The role in question - is apparently somehow linked to Shaw. Whether it be in a flashback scene, or her son, that I don't know. I was not able to get info on who is writing the script, at the moment, things will be very hush hush for a while. Secrecy is key with this franchise and they will be trying to hide as much as they can.
But Prometheus 2 is happening and it's progressing well behind closed doors.

Shaw is gone for so long her enterprising/worried brother sets off to look for her. Follows her to jockey homeworld. Begins to piece together what happens.
Could very well lead to a "changed" Shaw that everybody is seemingly wanting to see.

That's what I've been thinking. I know the initial rumour suggests Shaw's brother, but that's just f**king stupid for the above reasons and more. I guess a half-brother could

Highly doubt it's her son. I mentioned that idea to just say I have no clue what his role will be in relation to Shaw. Brother, it's possible. Son - maybe if an Engineer and Shaw get it on, or in another way, somehow she's exposed to more of the Engineer's "bio-former" and it somehow restarts her fertility cycle?
Another thought - there are very strong biblical symbols throughout Prometheus, what if Shaw represents the virgin Mary? She is given the ability to procreate by God (ie. in this case the Engineers) and ends up having a child who is part Human part Engineer, and somehow, has some important role in stopping the evil which was awakened on LV223 - Deacon perhaps?

just hire Aronofsky as a writer/and well as a director/ (and make it Noah as a canon :laugh:) but seriously he can write great characters (all of his movie) and imagine beautiful visuals (Fountain) and now he is already into the theme religion (Noah) wich is also a great part of Prometheus, should have potential ideas, but as we can see from ridley we will get a bunch of new characters who we dont give a F, why not develop the tension between Shaw, David, Father, Mother, Holloway, Gods and make it a great spiritual space drama where etc Shaw had to make decisions after a great character build up like the Gods bring back all his loved ones if Shaw helps destroying Earth(after the Gods convince Shaw that humanity is the greatest threat to all the galaxy because Earth is paradise but we made hell from it)?
too bad ridley stucked between the genres space horror, adventure, romance, religion and couldnt make a good movie from it, and honestly i suppose promi 2 will be the same

Here's a sketchy idea that would likely sell:
PROMETHEUS 2 takes place b/w ALIEN and ALIENS - as Lindeloff stated (something I always thought would work actually) - making the PROMETHEUS films run parallel to the ALIEN films, or better yet, as midquels to them.
It's 10 years after ALIEN and Shaw's 39 year old son who barely remembers his mother delves deep into the corporate conspiracy he believes is responsible for covering up his mother's disappearance. This is all triggered after finding all kinds of files about her theories in his late teens.
So then, he joins WEYLAND CORP - NOW, rechristened 'WEYLAND-YUTANI' and weaves his way into a position as some sort of case manager where he can access date files on company employees.
That's how and when he finds information about another possible cover-up - the events on board the Nostromo - and (HERE'S THE CLINCHER) he reaches out to someone else he believes may be in a similar situation - AMANDA RIPLEY McCLAREN and possibly her father, as well. Together they team up and either a) Combat the Company in a film with very little Alien or Engineer content or B) Stowaway on some sort of follow-up mission to LV-223 or LV-426 or better yet, some other planetoid in the Zeta-Reticuli system that reveals another component of just what the Engineers were up to there.
Eventually, it turns out that AMANDA RIPLEY MCCLAREN was killed by the company to 'silence' her knowledge.
You know, I wrote this thinking it was bad, but the more I consider what we might ACTUALLY get, this doesn't sound that terrible. I mean, I know if my parents dissapeared in space during some shady operation, I would certainly investigate for years if need be and it adds a relatable human angle PROMETHEUS lacked. Plus, putting off finding out what happened to SHAW and DAVID,...might add mystery.
You know what, this is just making it all too clear to me that I don't really care to see what happens to those two. Maybe its just me, but some things are better left unsaid and I think keeping what the Engineers are up to, a secret is probably better than explaining it.

you'd think she would have been less likely to want to go on a one way trip to the Engineer homeworld with David's head at the end of the movie if she had a brother back on Earth that would miss her.
It was her ORPHANED child, born so premature and sickly that it could only survive on a moon orphanage where it could be administered adavanced space drugs, possibly in her dreams. What's more the complicated pregnancy and childbirth which ends up being precisely what rendered Shaw unable to have children. DUN DUN!

Screenwriters are good, the problem are notes given to the writer by various people from the production.
