Question:
Do you like the name "The Predator?"
Option 1: Yes
Option 2: No
Option 3: Indifferent
...title is just not strong enough? I'm really not sold on "The Predator." The prior 2 sequels had smart naming choices. This one, which aims to revitalize, wants to show a strong connection to the first film. I get it. But to throw a "The" in front of the original title? Why not do what FOX is doing with Alien by using colons and subtitles? Alien: Covenant.....Predator: Concrete Jungle (for example), like all the comics have done?
I realize this is just speculation and opinion, but I would really like to know how many of you are cool with the new title and how many are not.
I got used to it. Though the title will cause a lot of confusion when we talk about the movie, especially to casual fans.
We would just resort to nicknaming it Predator 4.
The title doesnt matter too much to me, only if the movie is quality or not.
I feel it is the correct title, in line with him wanting the movie to be an 'event'.
How I miss the times when sequels had numbers. Seriously I`d pick Predator III or IV anyday insted Predators or The Predator.
I like the title, pretty bold.
I think it will surely be changed. It's just so lazy and uncreative. There's a million subtitles that you could use.

Agreed.

Why does every single movie need a subtitle these days? I miss when film's just had simple, straightforward titles.
I love it.it sounds like a strong statement .
Like John woos The Killer.
The Predator works for me. Simple and to the point. Although I guess the title could be mistaken for a Bill Cosby movie.
A lot of languages don't have the English article "The", so there's no way to differentiate between Predator or The Predator. Those translations will have to resort to an improvised subtitle.

Yeah this thought crossed my mind. Although, like the Godzilla films, what with 3 of them called "Godzilla," fans will often add the year or the film company that made it to differentiate.

That's why I think it's so weak. When you have a book series, don't they usually have different names? Harry Potter AND THE...(whatever) or Star Wars Episode (number): (whatever)... etc. None of these names are lazy, they actually help emphasize something important to the story.
I know plenty of people are used to it now. However, we got used to Prometheus 2...then Paradise Lost...names can be changed to better suit the film. I'm not condemning anyone, if you like it, that's cool.
I must admit I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me. Depending on where Black and Dekker go with the story, it could be quite as apt as Predators. I don't think every film needs to have a numbered or subtitled title.

 Still can't believe I missed that first time around.
I had to resist adding the tongue face when I was writing that.

That's too funny.
Black & Dekker... The Predator (You know the Drill)
 Why hasn't the marketing department hired you?!
I actually kinda like the title. Makes it feel ominous, almost threatening, but in a flashy kinda way... makes me feel nostalgic for the late 80's movies. I get why some of you think it's lazy or uncreative, though. But, then again, I've always been a fan of minimalism. :D
All in all - March 8 will be judgement day. A movie's title alone isn't enough to determine whether it'll be good or not.
The Predator
I like it.
Just adding "The" doesn't work for me. It needs something more.
Considering that it is a direct sequel, Predator 3: "subtitle here" would be nicer. Oh hell, just Predator 3. :)
Predator 3? A colon? Lame. No one even knows or cares that there's a Predator 2. A movie that bombed 26 years ago...please. The Predator is a perfect title.
Ok. you don't like Predator 2, we get it. Still Predator 3 is perfect title for direct sequel of first two, plain and simple. Another thing is, in many languages including mine there is no definite articles which makes translation of The Predator awkward.
Woo hoo it's called The Predator!
Yea I like Predator 3. It's just so easy to know the order in which to watch the movies.
And I'm glad The Predator is the official title. ;D

Wouldn't it come with its own title in that case? Like Alien and things like The 8th Passenger.

But this would be Predator 4.
Chronologically, Black believes it to be Predator 3 and Predators to be 4. I really hope someone corrects him on that.
It'll probably be titled Predator 3 or 4 here or some dumb subtitle will be made. There is small possibility it just won't be translated, but I hardly believe it.
I was thinking about what Black was saying. It may be the case The Predator is set before Predators. That's why he is saying Predators are set in future.
He believes it was in the future because it was set on another planet. I wonder if he actually watched it or is misremembering.
Honestly I kind of have Predators as a separate entity. The sequel for that should be Predators 2. Oh man... now it's all f**ked up.
In any case I think the title will be The Predator. It'll have a few taglines probably.
There will never be a sequel to Predators.
Especially since Fox wants a new trilogy out of The Predator.
I think they should remake/reboot Alien and call it The Alien.

HA. Point well taken. However the Predator does have more swag than the Alien. Actually wasn't there a rumor earlier that the new movie would have more of a detective theme. The Predator would work in that case. A film noir feel.

When did Fox say they wanted to make a new trilogy?

Can you specify where you read this? Or is it just a hunch?
It's pretty self evident that if The Predator does well, there will be sequels.
Everybody wants to "Marvel-it-up" these days.
The A/P/AVP cinematic universe!
Oi... I remember the days when they'd just make good movies and not get so obsessed with continuity and cross continuity, and making a "saga" out of the whole damn thing.
I wouldn't mind sequels, but I'd hate the film to be full of obvious, jarring sequel set-up like Jurassic World or Batman v Superman were.
Fortunately, that doesn't strike me as something Shane Black would do. He'll focus on making it a great movie in and of itself, then worry about any sequels later (if they happen).
I wonder if the title is in reference to the actual Predator creature, or someone/something hunting it.
Could be both, like Predators.
Yeah, that idea goes back to even the first film: "what the hell are YOU?"
Not to spam but I wanted to spread the word that I made a new video talking about the recent Predator news articles that have appeared on the front page here! Take a look, let me know what you think!
Glad to see you talked about the ADI news. I'm really curious about folk's opinions on that one. I'm with you on that one - I'm happy about ADI's involvement though I would have been happy with any of the 3 studios. I just hope they get the face and skin right, that's my only real concern.
I personally don't mind it.
Sure you could have a subtitle but then you risk it sounding cheesy,
"Predator:We're back bitches"
:P i jest, but seriously im more concerned about the actual story of the film than what the films called.
Sounds serious. Like all those other alien hunters were just Predators, but this one is THE Predator and means business. :P
I like it though. It's simple and effective. It does give it more of an event feel.
I almost feel like the title, along with the tagline "you'll never see him coming," may be a clue. I wonder if there will be a twist where the hunter becomes the hunted, similar to P2.

Or at this point, with the idea of a mystery element, it might be the idea of 2 Preds, one hunting the other. That's the reference of the line, or at least one man's opinion.
