Your station logo faded out after the commercial break? Damn, here in America we just got it through the entire runtime!

I think most free to air channels here do it too. Not sure they did in the old days though. Have to break out my TV version of the Aliens SE and check.

I watched it on Channel Ten late at night and I don't remember the logo being in it; it might've been a white, transparent watermark in the corner.

Remember sometimes they would do special outros for a film just before a commercial break. The Alien one for TV here in Australia had a screenshot of Muthur's screen with the words `What is it Muthur?' and then blinking words would appear saying `Alien' or something like that. Crazy how I remember these stupid things. I remember my elder brother re-recording the TV edition and trying to edit out those bits by using two VCRS hooked up!

I know, I was making a point on how they could still give a classic feel with digital/blu ray, the example being black and white.

That version you're talking about is the only version I had for a very long time.

I'm finding Aliens' little embracing of the analogue for collector's to be quite charming. Not something to be taken seriously. I've ended up getting the cassette for Isolation's soundtrack and a copy of Romulus for VHS. It's made me go rebuy the old VHS copy of Aliens I first had.

I first saw all four Alien films on VHS; I remember going through Alien and Aliens and trying to pick out all of the background details.

Then the Special Edition DVDs happened, and it became a lot less of an effort. I couldn't believe how clear Aliens was in particular.

My first copy of any of the movies was the 20th anniversary release of the VHS of ALIEN. Still have it, and put it next to the 40th anniversary 4K blu-ray for contrast.

the same here.
The only thing that made the enthusiasm wane a little was the fact that in the attack scene on DVD you could see much more clearly that the warrior costumes were spandex suits with parts glued on.
and that Alien still has a much better picture than the later AlienS.

Can't argue with that. Television broadcasts use the Blu-Ray transfers, and Alien is unbelievably clear. But then it always was a brighter film. I do like Aliens' typically Cameron-blue industrial look, though; it really fits the franchise.

It's also the stock, and just being uglier.

Indeed. Alien had that used-future look, but it was carried out with a certain elegance. Aliens is all harsh angles and grey steel.
