AvPGalaxy have been given the chance to visit
Rebellion at Oxford (UK) today; our editorial staff member Corporal Hicks and some friends will cover the event, they will share almost 4 intensive hours with Rebellion and their upcoming game
Aliens vs Predator.
The visit will go as follows:
- 12.30pm AVP Galaxy arrive at station
- 12.30pm – 2.00pm LUNCH at 4500 miles from Dehli
- 2.00pm – 3.30pm Playthrough of first level of each species.
- 3.30pm – 4.30pm Interviews (2 x 30 mins)
- 4.30pm – 4.45pm Studio tour
We will have the chance to interview Alex Moore (Lead designer), Paul Mackman (Producer), Dave Brickley (Senior Producer), Tim Jones (Project Lead) and many more.

I doubt it's a demo, really early and very short notice, it's probably a single player preview or something. What puzzles me though is that Ikarop didn't make such a big deal about any other trailers so far... So I guess we just have to wait and see ;)

New MP Maps/Skins Reveal - no that's not either, we have passed that fase. Almost all of us here knows everything about skins, and mp (at least basic info), so i don't think that would be worth of avatar modification.
Exclusive Interview - we got Lance, Rebbelion and dozen more interviews. I can't guess any more important people worth of interviewing.
Complete Multiplayer and/or Single Player Preview - well this one is probable. But it would only make sense if it will be video demonstrated - e.g. first 15 minutes of Alien or Marine, but i am going for the alien, since most latest reports came to us about beginning of alien and predator campaign, and since we already saw some of Predators, Alien only remains.
My conclusion - Video gameplay of first 10-15minutes of Alien campaign.
Am i right? ;D

They already official announced the EURO release date so why not the US one? The system requirements are gonna need to be shown eventually. A release date for the demo will tell people to wait for the game or try the game first with the demo. I don't see any of those things being too early.

They haven't announce it officially yet, not even the limited editions but they will do it very soon obviously.
I think last week I posted somewhere on the
Release speculation thread SEGA usually releases their games on Friday for EUR. For the US they usually release them on Tuesday so that would be Feb 16.

Theirs already been demonstrations of the single-player modes, as well as a preview at the multiplayer feature. Going by this, it very might be a short playable demo.

far cry 2 mouse was ok for me, shell shock 2 had bad mouse movement. and Fallout 3..

It annoys me when devs say that "The PC version won't be a direct port, we have nice graphics!" and they forget about the core features like dedicated servers, server browser and mod tools.

Will be interesting to see the trailer. The game is in a much more complete state now compared to when the previous trailers were released, in particular the Predator and Marine trailers.
If the game comes out on the planned date of February 19th, it will no doubt be gold 2 months from now. Definately need to start seeing more of it to get hype train in motion.

The Survivor Edition will be no more than 10 dollars extra compared to the standard edition.
It's really worth it considering each of the extra maps takes more than 10 dollars to make.
At least with the survivor edition, people don't need to buy the more expensive hunter edition for
the maps.
And they will more than likely be sold as buyable DLC in the future. But smart shoppers save their
money now so they can get at least the Survivor Edition. I mean look at these maps.

Yeah and doesn't answer many of the questions I mentioned that are still up in the air. I mean its wonderful that they are supporting DX 11 for those that will be running Windows 7. And Dedicated Server support being confirmed probably saved this version of the game from ending up in the bargain bin. It's just almost every time we see a gameplay vid or get some news its always PS3 or 360 version related. I mean if the PC version looks so spectacular why don't they want to show it off some? An were like barely 2 months from launch and I don't know if the game will require Steam or support it out of the retail box. And no pics of a special PC edition. Just kind of makes you feel like the kid that gets forgotten an left at the gas station.

Sifer2 got the point. We all hear is how PC version spectacular look and work so far...but all we got is 40 seconds of 3D scene. So I say there will be no huge difference with dx11. It's all marketing...remember crysis "exclusive" dx10 features? Screen resolution is a different topic and yes it will make pc version look better in any way. I really hope for PC trailer, but i guess it won't be any, because in action you couldn't say if its a pc or consoles graphics.

The game has never worried me. Ive been excited since the announcement. Rebellion are the Daddy when it comes to AvP. I enjoyed the multiplayer at eurogamer and I loved the Sp. I didn't want to leave Rebellion. We're in for a treat.

Well sorry to say this, but DX11 looks like DX9 done in a bit different way. AMD payed for DX11 promotion, but rebellion won't change graphics a LOT. If you look at that trailer, you'll see that textures are flat and low res. No bump mapping or displacement mapping. Look @ the environment - low mipmap levels, bad texture filtering....oh my.... A console port with tessellation.
But still, can't wait! ;D
AVP 1 and 2 graphics are old now, but they did such a great job - it's still very fun to play!

I'm really anticipating that new trailer. Ikarop, did you ever tell us what that blurry image was that you posted? Was it nothing or was it actually something substantial. For a while I thought it was a pic of the tube the chestburster gets caught in, from the chestburster's perspective.
These things take their time. The important thing is that there's shinny light at the end of the corridor as well as the stuff will be AVPG's exclusive. Cool thing, indeed! =)

Theres a mod for it on avp2 and for some reason it makes gameplay so much more satisfying.
As does creeping around as a drone on the chestburster level.

No such thing. Darkness and shadows are lighter for the alien from what I know, and there is some form of indication on how well "hidden" you are in darkness.

You see far better than anyone in darkness by default. I believe Aliens enjoy a certain level of ambient light no matter where they are. But don't quote me on that.

Monolith did many bad things to AvP but anyway AvP 2 had a big comunnity as well
I just Rage allways when every one says "Oh i hope it gets as cool as AvP 2" most people didnt know AvP/ AvP Gold well what ever The Masters from Rebellion AvP Team are back to it makes me happy and i have faith they will not f**k it up

wow, i suggested the head turning stealth kill for 180 degrees, and the person that got their head turned can look at their killer. is rebellion actually doing cool things that i suggest? if so.....please read all of what i wrote :D. here's another one, stealth kill where species grabs marine's head with left and places rite hand on its head. the head will be squeezed. the player getting stealth killed sees the edges of the screen getting hazy and their controller is rumbling, and the screen is shaking, until u hear a satsifying *CRUNCH* and either the head is completely eviserated (if its easier) or u see a shriveled malformed head (better but will be harder to pull off). =D i have more rebellion!! curbstomp for human vs human execution kills :D READ IT!

K good. lol. yeah the other one was the pred decloaking every 2 seconds and i suggested that when the predator gets hit, the cloak should "warp" with electrical bits moving throughout his body. That way the marine knows where the pred is and the pred doesnt have to press cloak again. I added a compromise, even though the whole community pleaded the same cry. I'm just happy rite now. I really hope that they HAVE read all my ideas and at least consider them. Everyone LOVED my alien boss idea for the marine SP missions. (Think berserker from gears of war, but its a preatorian or predalien, cant kill it, gotta get away) I also thought my stealth kill ideas were awesome as well. I heard about the "marine choke slamming an alien" so i decided to present and idea where a marine can have an "execution kill" that fits, and i thought of the marine curbstomping another marine, pretty brutal. so its fits. :) at any rate, Rebellion, your doing amazing, thank you for receiving feedback from the community and seeing what we have to say. Constructive criticism is always best to make an amazing game. We are all looking forward to this title.

I like how Rebellion are true to the concept of the Alien.
I also enjoy the way they slant it as a kind of daemon. There's this one kill animation where you make your foe kneel before you before putting out their eyes with your tail.
It's an incredibly creepy combination of merciless efficiency and animal gratification. A small liberty, perhaps, but one that contributes to the horror.
Gore is nice.

The hole in the head asset looks awesome. The other picture shows the predalien's point of view, that seems to be a fact. What I did not understand well is the height of the predalien, although that is just an screenshot thus no solid conclusions can be formed from it.

Well... no... I think the head is off backwards...
Lol I wonder if you rip the head clean off then put it back on backwards... :D too cheesy for an alien though haha, and that first pic looks like the Alien made a new fleshlight for himself...
She just had her neck snapped, that's probably the end of the trophy kill animation and the Alien's drawing it's hands back.

Why would you be disturbed? It s a freaking game.. i say more gore the better as long as its that type of game and done well..
I doubt I'll be able to look at that in game without laughing because of the pick further up where someone turned it into a smiley face lol.

i hated how in far cry 2 and stalker you could see bulletholes for about a second after shooting someone but they magically dissapeared as if everyone was F-ing wolverine.
and nobody knew how to mod it to make those bulletholes last.
