Doesnt bother me at all, as an alien film some gore is to be expected. I myself prefer a certain level of gore, at least similar to the amounts seen in the first 3 films. Like everyone else has said, as long as its not gore porn then there shouldnt be a problem. It's not like Scott is known for crazy amounts of gore in his films anyway.

Alien had gore. Kain bursts open, and the filmmakers literally use gore taken from an abattoir. At one point, in the movie, they tried using bones fro ma abattoir for the derelict scenes, according to Giger. Brett and Parker's heads are both bit into, and in Parker's case, you can see the skull come open and the brains pop out. Ash's head gets knocked off with a baseball bat. They used "Nottingham lace" for the inside of the alien egg, as well. It's a violent, gory film.

Gore can be used to great thematic effect. For example, the on-screen violence was one of the great qualities in Alien 3, IMO. The shot of the Alien after it kills Boggs and the blood sprays Golic.. the look of the alien was one of the best shots of the creature in the entire series. The way the alien picked apart some of the prisoners was intense (Jude being an example). I think that if done well, and I think the focus in Covenant seems to be on intensity, then it very well may be a good quality to have.

True, this will probably have smart gore like in Alien & Aliens...not that disgusting shyte from AR..Whenever I think of AR I think of Piss Puss or worse.

I'm sure any gore will be handled well with Scott at the helm, he isnt really a gore hound.

On that note, I want it to have some gore, visceral, like in Alien. Obviously we don't want slasher flick gore, and I wouldnt think we would get that from scott.

I'm of the same thoughts. Alien had gore but it was intense gore, not gore porn. I'm hoping that's the same way that he'll be handling it here. Not gore for the sake of it but as a punctuation.

I hope the gore is more practical... that cgi stuff still doesn't get the job done. So straight up horror movie... I guess that mean less exploring and more a-killing. Although I wonder how much body horror vs bloody horror he is speaking about.

He'll definitely be exploring. That's the whole point to his prequels.

Gore used right.  Alien had gore, but some of the horror came through suggestion, Lambert's death occurs off camera, but it makes you wonder what happened when you see her swaying off the ground

Pause the sceen of a dead Lambert and Parker. Lambert has no trousers on and one of her big toes is dislocated. Factor that in with what Riply hears over the Tannoy.

Haha see, you have to pause the scene in order to process all the gore. Otherwise it's just quick flashes i.e. classy gore.
