I'm going to guess that that is just fun imagery for the shirt design and not actually representative of anything in the film (plus, Resurrection technically beat it to the punch there ), but it is really good imagery for a design in this art style. Some incredibly good work on this one, Dane. 

I echo the statement that I'd very much wear something like this, and I can't wait to start seeing more of Dane Hallett's art for this project in general.

All this skull buster talk has inspired me to watch Resurrection after dinner tonight! It's been years, let the goofiness ensue!

Update

I asked Tristan Jones about this exodus one-shot.
It turns out that's not Newt drowning in her cryotube (it totally looked like that to me too). It was a flashback sequence from an original story he was working on years ago in which a young girl wakes up in the middle of cryo sleep and witnesses her mother being torn in half after their ship is hit by debris from a nearby asteroid that exploded due to a mining accident.
Visually, it's heavily inspired by alien so it really does look like Newt in cryo right before she drowned.
